I’m way ahead on payments just from doing that, but I REFUSE to still be in debt this time next year. I won’t have it!

There is no financial education in this country so how do you expect 18 year olds to understand things like compound interests, capitalization, inflation, wage growth, time value of money, and demand for their particular degree after graduation to be able to accurately calculate their chance of being able to pay back their loans? Most people's parents aren't even financially literate and we as a country push college as the something every teenager should aspire to. Then we're surprised when we're in a student loan crisis.

I have the $0 repayment. I still plan on paying tho. I called my servicer to get an understanding on the interest and to see if I’d be penalized for paying on the $0 payment plan. So if you use that to benefit your budget then you can stay on top of your interest. Still work it into the debt snowball. I think it’s only bad if you don’t pay anything more than just the interest. Make sure you’re paying down on the principal too

Never had student debt myself. The Navy paid 75% of my tuition for my Bachelors and Master degrees. I am currently working a second job, making $500/week, so we can pay for our daughters college in cash. She lives at home and goes to community college for the first two years. That will be $10k + books. Year 3 and 4 will be at the local state college. It will be $12k a year plus books. I made our daughter get her drivers license at 17. She commutes to college 25 miles away twice a week. We bought her an $8k car. 2013 Nissan Altima with a salvage title due to hail damage. 32k miles and fully loaded. Runs like new. I am guessing with tuition and books we will pay less than $40k for a four year education. We are paying for college not the college experience. Now just imagine if our daughter had applied for scholarships. Please don't tell me that college can't be paid for in cash. You have to be creative and patient.

Watching this special episode of the ramsey show makes me even more blessed that i myself dont have anymore student loan debt. And pretty much i can move on from that crazy chapter if my past life. If i can do it so can you all do the very same. Pay off your debts. You build a character inside of u that u never knew u could become. And u for sure will look at money a very different way.

The PSLF program was fixed last year. Many of those people waiting to be forgiven have been forgiven at this point. It's a legitimate plan for those who work in public service.

    • @RetroGamer20109

One of the challenges is that some people are so committed to PSLF that they more than pay for the loans in lower income at a qualified job, when they could have paid it off faster earning more at a nonqualified job

As of 8/2023…804,000 student loans were forgiven equaling $39 billion of debt relief. Shame on Dave Ramsey for speaking in hyperbole and making it sound like President Biden didn’t come through on multi-levels for those with student loan debt. Freaking people out by saying they’ll need to work 5 jobs by October to start paying their debt back. Why not mention Biden’s S.A.V.E. Program, which will allow repayment based on how much you claim you earn on your taxes? Word has it, under SAVE - Most students will be paying 1/2 what they had to pay under Trump. Some who make less than $32,00/year will be asked to pay $0.00/month. Also Under the SAVE Program, interest can not compound. So don’t panic. As of August, 2023 Everyone The 10k-20k loan forgiveness program got torpedoed due to anti-lower and middle class Republican politics, Big Student loan lenders like Mohela, and the Republican conservative Supreme Court. Dave forgets to mention this. Shame on Dave and his right wing conservative politics. Stop the hysteria for click bait.

Do I stop church ministry so I can do the side hustles? And what do you do with having to pay the taxes for self employment. Plus when you file taxes…you need to pay more when filing taxes because of your side income…how do you plan for this?
