  • Hey guys! In this video, we wanted to show you how we made the gambeson for Geralt’s Master Crafted Ursine Armor from the Witcher 3. This one took us a while and we are really happy with the way the costume turned out. Stay tuned for even more Witcher 3 armor. Molly has to make the corset for Ciri’s costume and Brian has the rest of the chainmail leather and steel armor to make for this one. We have lots of stuff planned and just need time… oh, do we need time...
    Materials:
    …. There are a lot on this one, mostly acquired from a multitude of places including Mood Fabrics, Amazon, Joann’s…. The list goes on. If you want to know about anything in particular, just ask! We would be happy to share!

    Honestly, this could be used for even rougher wear like actual LARP, though not HEMA.
    All in all, this is a FANTASTIC build project! 🖤🖤🖤

      How many layers do you think would be enough for HEMA??

    • @christopherjones7191
      @christopherjones7191 Před 9 měsíci

      @@sofiabezanilla9649depends on if you are just relying on this. But generally three layers is good for the bit of padding it gives, much more if it's all you are wearing.

    Awesome work! It inspired me to try to make similar one as well. Where can I find the fabric used in the video? Is it linen, cotton or something else? Thanks a lot in advance!

    Amazing work! Beautiful gambeson, that looks crisp but still has that "old" feel to it.

    Hi! Could you please tell me the size and length of the rivets you used? Im also sewing a gambeson, and I don't know if I should use a 5mm one or an 8mm one. Could you please help me with this? Thanks in advance! 🥰

    Amazing video, the finished product looks so cool!
    What would you recommend using for the padding?

    • @wisebeyondourshears2167
      @wisebeyondourshears2167  Před 2 lety +1

      Thank you so much! I would recommend a cotton batting if you are able to find that, if not try to find a batting with a high percentage of cotton or other natural fibers in it. Regardless of what you choose it will be warm, but the more natural fibers breathe more that way you don't overheat too much in your gambeson.

    This so amazing, such gorgeous work! Did you have to manually extend the pattern to have the front cross the chest to fasten to the side, or did the pattern come with it?

    • @wisebeyondourshears2167
      @wisebeyondourshears2167  Před 3 lety +2

      Thank you so much! I altered the pattern myself so that it would look more like the ursine gambeson from the game. The original pattern is just a straight opening.

    Hi, you did a wonderful job. So professional! I'm actually trying to make a gambeson myself and I was wondering if you had any advice about the kind of fabric to use.

    • @wisebeyondourshears2167
      @wisebeyondourshears2167  Před 2 lety +5

      I actually followed the recommendations from the pattern I used! It suggested a duck, broadcloth, poplin, twill, linen, or lightweight canvas. So I had those in mind when I went to the fabric store and found something that I liked the feel of. The lightweight canvas was my favorite for the exterior fabric and the twill worked for the lining. I would definitely recommend picking something that is 100% natural fibers so that it is actually breathable, and something that feels very sturdy and durable. Hopefully that helps and if you have any more questions let me know! I'm more than happy to help. :)
