This is a fantastic garment! Great tutorial! Thank you!
Fascinating video and very useful thank you for uploading this. Do you sell the pattern by any chance?
we sell completed gambesons)
Heya, what is the wadding you are using? Could you share a link by any chance? That would be so helpful, thank you so much!
We use the natural cotton wadding that we buy from our local supplier.
Would this also be sufficient for hema/saber fencing? I do both SCA and Saber and was hoping to find something that could fill both roles. i.e. padding under my plate armor but also could serve as durable padding for saber like a fencing jacket.
I’ve seen people using it for hema but I’m not sure how legal it is in hema and fencing depends on the regulations . I’m not an expert In the regulations and they depend, my opinion is that it would be adequate for fencing at least.
@@samnathan1677 Thank you. I'm not a member of a hema club as we don't even have one in my area. Just me and a friend doing poly saber work in parks. So I'm not worried about regulation gear right now, just want to be protected and hoping to not have to buy two jackets
@@nicholasw777 in that case this should be fine, but do note it doesn’t have as much padding as hems specific gear, I would recommend the red dragon hema helmet since it has greate padding for hema with the look and visor for fencing so that would fit both very well apart from the gambeson.
@@samnathan1677 awesome thank you for the recommendation. I see the red dragon doesn’t have full back of head /neck protection. How important is that? It might also get used for kali.
Padded Arming Doublet - it's equipment that normally should be worn under the steel armors. HMB padding is not sick, it should provide maximum movability. So we advise you to find the HEMA club and ask them.
Super Mega like greath Work ....!!!
Is it stab proof
Hi! About what era and nationality is this particular doublet based upon? German? Italian? 14th or 15th or 16th Century? And are your materials period accurate. Thank you
late XIV century, west Europe
Did you think about making it with historical pattern instead of making with a modern one?
Yes, it's possible for the new model/project of padded gambeson
OH, so it's not linen or horse hair that's been used as padding, but polyester?!
It does removes swett faster and better... Perhaps that's what they wanted
@@JanterCyrano Yeah... makes sense
