Vanlife isn't always easy and you need to allow for some difficult days that can throw up problems.

Albir or Altea are definitely worth a visit and you can get the tram from either to Benidorm.

Have you been to moriara round the bend from Javea ?
The free car park in middle of town allows Campervans and Motorhome for free.
The town is beautiful and lots of bars restaurants and live music even in the winter.
Try Saxo for live music every night except Tuesday 😂(off grid only)
Hi Tracy ! Thanks for the recommendation, we walked into town today and noticed new height barriers at 2.1 M so that stops most motorhomes , was it there when you visited ? We tend to have quiet nights with the dogs 🐩🐩🐾🐾 thanks so much for sharing xx

We spent a lot of time in Javea in Nov/Dev and were able to park on the pebbly beach. However, the counçil put a stop to it and put in height barriers. Another fantastic park-up is on the cliff by the lighthouse, that overlooks Javea. Room for about a dozen vans. Fantastic views!
We got water from the same place as you, but we had a connector from Leroy Merlins.
There's a big UK supermarket in Javea. Expensive though!

Hi "Reds" camping Almafra is my fav in Benidorm area, it's close enough to hop on bus into main town . Lovely friendly site, dog friendly and very clean facilities

Fascinating stuff. We love these sort of days cos we learn a lot about how to go about European travel.
We had an issue with the LPG last week in sub zero. Apparently there’s different mixes of Propane/Butane in different countries. Spain will have more Butane in the mix which freezes quicker than Propane. In the end we think it was our regulator that had the problem, so not the mix
Thanks for sharing the fuel up - we do now have hopefully the correct gas adaptors.
Intriguing to see how you find the park ups. We wouldn’t like some of the Park4night sites but that one looked fine 👍

That strange tap you couldn't connect to - someone has just unscrewed from the opening at the bottom of the tap and stolen the nozzle that would have been there. It would have been a normal hosepipe connection. Maybe worth nipping into Leroy Merlin/Brico Mart/Depot to get one for a couple of Euros to add to your collection.
By the way, you know not to eat the oranges. They are not edible oranges.

Hi Corrin Paul Dolly and Pippa. Thank you for your latest blog. It’s good to see both sides to van life. Pierre seems to have the same kind of days where he fixes stuff and super glue is usually somewhere in the process. Corrin thanks for the steer on laundromats. I have not used the laundromat other than in the campsites we have been staying at. Just enjoyed a couple of days in Los Albaricoques in the Cabo de Gata park. The camp was called Camper Park Olivares. It felt like we were in Mexico. They have a claim to fame being the village where two of the spaghetti westerns had scenes filmed there, and you can definitely see why. Little cooler as we were about 15km inland but very different from other places we stayed. We are now at a camp for services in Roquetas de Mar. Very busy. We are heading towards Motril, then up to Granada. I’m looking forward to seeing the Alhambra. We drove through Benidorm and decided it wasn’t for us. Far too touristy and way too many people and traffic. We ended up staying further down the coast past Alicante at a beach stop called El Altet for free. Nice stop lovely sunrise. There are two One called El Altet and one called El de Altet. We didn’t like the El de Altet it was a park ground away from the beach. I look forward to your next instalment where ever you end up. Just thought of something important. I think it was you that said about the processary caterpillars in the Pyrennes. We have known about them for yrs. We had them in the pines near us but the Andulucian government now sprays in lived in areas. What I wanted to say is are you aware they have spread to the UK and are in oaks. I read this 2 yrs back and have had a good look at the photos and they do appear to be the same. They certainly do the same harm. Not sure if you are aware.

If you’ve got time go to Moraira. Also I can recommend a vet in Javier or Xavia (whatever one you want to call it) if you need one. Hopefully you won’t. We got Rolo’s passport there, lovely lady.

Must admit , the weather has been brilliant since the rain last Friday . Have you tried Vilasol not far from the outdoor market and easy walk into Benidorm . We've always been able to get in . Great vlo both , love from the old Redders's .

Hi, I don't claim to be an expert on orange trees but I do have several in Portugal and if you can pick an orange off a tree so easily, it is ready to eat. They otherwise put up quite a fight to get them off. If it feels hard it's because it's fresh and has a thick pith. Once it's picked the pith starts to shrink over time and the orange won't feels as hard.

Hi both wevisited that area back in October last year we found a nice new site in Finestrat just outside Benidorm called camping live.Excellent facilities and very friendly staff. Bus stop just down the road straight into Benidorm. If you get stuck try there. There is a Chinese warehouse, a maccies, and restaurant. By the way enjoy your Fajitas 😋

Hi Corrin and Paul, thank you for this vlog which is of interest to us as some of these practical things we haven’t done in our van yet. Can I ask, when doing the laundry, do the facilities always provide the washing detergent within the price? If so, is there an option for non-bio washing powder?

Thanks for that, really useful for us! We are the newbies, van arriving March 1st and we are planning on travelling around Europe with our two spaniels. My husband has concerns about weight. Not his 🤣🤣. After your MIRO and optional equipment how much remaining mass do you have and do you find it adequate for your travels?
We actually did a vlog when we visited a weighbridge a number of videos back 🙂 we do have some spare capacity, but not much , we are considering up plating which will give us over 200 kg more , our van is under 3.5 ton , so the payload is quite limited , vans over 3.5 t do have a better load capacity xx hope that’s of use 🙂❤️ safe travels for the exciting times ahead with your dogs and hubby xx
18kg wash? That’s a whole lot of smalls there mrs Redders! Adaptors and strange fittings, nothings more certain that what you have will not fit when you are in desperate need.🤷♂️ Nice to see you are blessed with decent weather. 👍 Are rock hard oranges not juicable?

Just looking at your gas adapters and wondering what metal they’re made from? Ours are brass but yours look like steel or aluminium? We were advised brass as it can’t cause a spark when disconnecting from the pump head and ignite gas which steel could do and aluminium being softer could wear causing a loose fit on the pump connector.
Hi Ian , thanks for the question , they are aluminium, had them for 2 years now, and have had no problems at all , if there is any leak or lack of seal , the lpg pump won’t work , brass is probably the better option as it’s hard wearing , but aluminium is fine but needs to be cared for a bit more as it’s softer 👍❤️ great question and advice, Thankyou

Lovely weather, I could do with some of that 😂 when did you decide to do van life and do you think there is an age cut off when you shouldn't do it? I'm 51 and would love to do it but the wife's not keen so I just watch you and the many other van lifer's travels with a lump in my throat 🥹
Good evening ! 🥰❤️ Redders retired from the fire service in 2020 at 50 , Covid interrupted plans and we’ve been travelling in the motorhome home since late 2021 , so a similar age as yourself ! It’s never too late ❤️ 🙂 and the sun is lovely xx

Mattwestby1169. Age limit. ? Get a grip! I'm a young'un at 68. I think at your age you'd be in the minority. Large percentage are retired. I've recently spent some time with another Brit, messing about on our motorbikes. And he's 84....!
