Although I have lived in California for many years, I was born and raised in Knox County. If it is your first time in Indianapolis and you are walking around the Soldiers and Sailors monument, remember you are walking in a circle. My first time I did not realize I was (That it was named, "the Circle" should have been a clue.). I was surprised when I passed the same stores more than once. It is a BIG circle. One must view it from above to appreciate that.

Question, I am in the bay area and love the weather here. Realize this is not CA and there are four seasons. I lived in Boston and NY for 9 years and could not take it or the weather any longer. Is winter super cloudy and depressing for four months. How did you do when you moved from CA with the change and dreariness? Thanks for the feedback!

I have been watching peoples videos on Indy to see what has been said about this place. One thing everyone forgets to mention is that this is a great place for families, but not single people. The dating scene in Indy is not the greatest.

I have a a job offer on the table. I am reluctant since I don't know much about indy. I hate dilemmas
I feel like in every state everyone dislikes their summer and winters. Here in Nevada I dislike the fall because there is no fall. In California we had fall for a couple weeks and then it was Christmas time. I like how your seasons sound.
Hey there! I should be appreciative of having all 4 seasons lol what a blessing! This winter was VERYYY mild though so I really didn't have much to complain about ;) This spring has been amazing so far with a lot of early blooms!
Indianapolis needs their own NHL & MLB teams.
That would be awesome. We have those minor league teams... but with it being the sports capital you'd think we'd have pro teams!

Yeah, with this being such a big city it's hard to escape crime as a whole. But like you said, there's a lot to make up for it! Hopefully some more peaceful times will be ahead!
Cons; Mike and Greg Pence, total absence of a meaningful art and music scene, ubiquitous racism, 5 churches on every block, low wages (unless you work for Lily or Purdue), Trump fanaticism, lousy weather, over-policed North side, judgmental people, low graduation rates, meth and heroin are in every neighborhood and everybody blames minorities, but nobody blames Purdue Pharma, lousy tax subsidized sports franchises, and holy cow...are the restaurants in Indianapolis awful. Once you have eaten in almost ANY other state, you will realize just how bad the food is in Indianapolis. Yuck.
I'm thinking about moving there, but I'm not sure about the crime, can you tell me a little bit more about it? is the city dangerous, or is that a cliché?

Of course! We have a great police force throughout Indiana- and funding has risen to help our city and surrounding areas continue towards safety for all.
Races Fr I got a video of the vA police illegally arrested and searched I beat the case but my care was also toll even in Speedway
Because of crime, I exercise my 2nd amendment whenever I go out in public. Unlike blue democrat states, is it relatively easy to get a conceal carry permit in Indiana? I’m guessing it would because Indiana is mostly a red republican state but I don’t know, just thinking of moving there.
It’s a Constitutional Carry state

Is there a lot of crime people are saying it is as bad as Detroit
As a very large city it's hard to completely escape crime. I don't have the research to answer your question- but I'm sure there's data available. Hopefully there are some more peaceful times in the future!
I'm from Detroit and I go to indy all the time and noooo it's not as Bad as Detroit trust me 😆
On the East and West side (somewhat North and South) the crime is spotty. But in the crime ridden areas, the crime is pretty consistent. But, the further you go in any direction, the less crime you'll see. As far as the East side goes, the crime is relentless. I lived in Indianapolis for 30 years, all over, and I can honestly say, the Eastside was the worse. Just stay tf away and don't test that part of Indy.
@Troy Ehnisz Just stay away from the far eastside (Post Road) and you'll be good
The property crime is quite bad and the cops don't do much to deter it, but violent crime is mostly contained to certain parts of the city and drugs. We do have a lot of drug users, tho, of all backgrounds.
Yeah we just had a 14 year old shoot 7 people in our mall downtown. Our potholes are terrible, weather sucks, and our violent crime here per capita is worse than Chicago. if any of you are thinking of moving here don't, move to Geist, Carmel, or Fishers instead its cleaner, better schools, the roads are maintained, crime in these areas are practically nonexistent, somehow more affordable housing, and it overall just has a better feel and sense of community!
Hey Ryan, I appreciate your input. With it being such a dense city it is hard to escape all crime. I hope you understand my being a licensed REALTOR, I am unable to report on crime statistics, etc. I always want to keep my business ethical an do not want to cause any steering or redlining- but ALWAYS suggest my clients look up their areas of concern :) Additionally, I LOVE living in Hamilton County!

California is racist in some places. I'm saying this to let you know that hate is everywhere. The thing is to not let it be inside of you. My daughter lives in indianapolis, and she loves it. She moved there from California.

Well, the White River does run through the heart of the city. So.....
Not really of course you may bump into a few but that's any state you go to and not just white people

@@erejo3274 I think people exagerrate that stuff, I'm also black and had a similar experience of people telling me not to go to cities in red states because they were racist. I've actually had the opposite experience. I haven't had any issues I've be more welcomed here by both black and white people then in my old city
