3 things to know if you’re building a home in the winter months: 🏠 It takes a nice warm, sunny day to make the adhesive on the roof and siding to totally adhere. If you have a crazy windy day before it is able to totally seal and a shingle comes loose just use your warranty line and it should be easily fixed. 🌾 If the ground has already frozen or it’s very cold- sod production has probably alre...

Yeah we just had a 14 year old shoot 7 people in our mall downtown. Our potholes are terrible, weather sucks, and our violent crime here per capita is worse than Chicago. if any of you are thinking of moving here don't, move to Geist, Carmel, or Fishers instead its cleaner, better schools, the roads are maintained, crime in these areas are practically nonexistent, somehow more affordable housing, and it overall just has a better feel and sense of community!
Hey Ryan, I appreciate your input. With it being such a dense city it is hard to escape all crime. I hope you understand my being a licensed REALTOR, I am unable to report on crime statistics, etc. I always want to keep my business ethical an do not want to cause any steering or redlining- but ALWAYS suggest my clients look up their areas of concern :) Additionally, I LOVE living in Hamilton County!
I feel like in every state everyone dislikes their summer and winters. Here in Nevada I dislike the fall because there is no fall. In California we had fall for a couple weeks and then it was Christmas time. I like how your seasons sound.
Hey there! I should be appreciative of having all 4 seasons lol what a blessing! This winter was VERYYY mild though so I really didn't have much to complain about ;) This spring has been amazing so far with a lot of early blooms!
I’m so glad your loved one got home safely!
Thank you so much!!! We are so happy
As a kid, there is nothing better than seeing your parent again. So happy.
What SouthWest? How the hell did they get those wings?
What do you mean? When they came home from over seas they did their demob in TX then flew southwest back to IN.
@@theIndyHomeGirl I was just curious as how they got southwest. I did 4 trips and all our planes were white except the tail numbers. lol.
I'm thinking about moving there, but I'm not sure about the crime, can you tell me a little bit more about it? is the city dangerous, or is that a cliché?
'Promo SM' 🌹
I'd prefer to be dead in San Francisco than live there, I am not a farmer
Doesn't fit everyone's style! What does being a farmer have to do with it?

Hello. Found your channel by accident. Do you help with finding rentals?
Hey, my bad for my ignorance but is there any program that help 22 year olds that have nothing to there name as afresh start I’m from California born n raised but I’ve been looking to move and get a fresh start away from California
Hey! There’s a lot of options. Send me an email paige@homegirlindy.com We can see if we can get you qualified!
Indianapolis needs their own NHL & MLB teams.
That would be awesome. We have those minor league teams... but with it being the sports capital you'd think we'd have pro teams!
If you wanna live by some of the rudest, fake rich people move here. im serious, never in my life have i seen so many just awful rude people in one place. its really bad guys, go there if you dont believe me
I'm sorry to hear that feedback!
Dang, you certainly had some bad experiences. I grew up here, school and everything. I’ve only had one bad experience. The only rude person that I could think of was this fake, rich looking, white Middle Aged woman, probably some kid’s mom, (you could probably call her a Karen in this situation idk) who scolded and raised her voice in a rude tone to me and my Mexican and black friends for talking and laughing at a row behind her in a Westfield high school graduation ceremony that DIDN’T even start yet. We were just killing time. She had the audacity to ask us if we were even here at the graduation for someone graduating and that was the first time I realized there are people like that here in Westfield. She kind of got under my skin when she said that as we were there for my older brother graduating. She basically told us to shut up and that we shouldn’t be allowed to talk at all. Everyone else around was loud, (not to mention everyone else around us was white) so idk why she picked on us, maybe because we were hs teens at the time or maybe because we were having a good time and she was jealous? 🤷♀️ I suggest staying away from living in the gated communities in Westfield. That’s usually where the entitled rich people live and that’s usually where the drama happens to both adults and kids.
in ALL honesty i did do and will have really really GREAT memories of indianapolis including the indianapolis motor speedway and EVEN more so just BARELY st francis hospital
Hey paige, do you think you can make a video about Brownsburg, Indiana?
Great idea! I'll get to work and let you know when it's done!
@@theIndyHomeGirl great! When do you think you will have the video posted?
Hey paige, do you think you can make a video about Brownsburg, Indiana?
haha right now you have 317 subscribers :) whoops!
Yes! So excited for the growth of my channel. Thanks for watching!
Dang. Those property taxes suck. Other than that, prices aren't too bad.
Amazing house but expensive
At least use pictures of Indianapolis when maligning it. I feel as though you're picking at scabs. Also, you do realize Indianapolis and Indiana are not the same things, right? Which one was the subject of this video?
You do realize this is just a fun video, right? #5 is an actual joke. However, I help a lot of families move across the country to our great state. It's important to know what you're getting into with such a big move. But if these 4 things are the worst I could come up with- I think we are doing a good job. Thanks for the feedback.
Hey I’m 21 and want to relocate but have no idea nor do I really have and idea of where to start and what I need and need to do a-swell
hey there, send me an email at paige@homegirlindy.com and we can discuss what options you have and I'll help!
Why the fuck would I do this if I make 80,000 a year.
I'm not sure what your implication is? Indiana continues to be a an area in the midwest for families to go with lower cost of living. If someone is a remote worker and has the ability to move- this is an incentive. That's the point.
@@theIndyHomeGirl so they pay people that already make more than the average salary in America, more money to move somewhere when they already have the money to move in the first place? Yeah I hate peoples like you 👍🏽 kma
I was born in Indianapolis. Dying to move my family there.
Hey Amy! I'd love to help make that happen. When the time is right, send me an email or text!

Is the city racist, I am Asian and plan to move there!?
California is racist in some places. I'm saying this to let you know that hate is everywhere. The thing is to not let it be inside of you. My daughter lives in indianapolis, and she loves it. She moved there from California.
Don't forget local tax. Every county in IN had local taxes as of 2014, and that rate varies. States have to get their money from somewhere, but it doesn't always balance out it's important for an individual to look at their own circumstance and calculate it all, not based on national averages. I live in FL, no income tax but our state sales tax is 6% with counties adding .5 or so. My area is 7% total. IN is 7% statewide, but they also have some other ancillary taxes in certain counties on food and such. You not only need to look at the sales tax rate, but the types of things that are taxed. FL has a lot of items, like services and most food, that aren't taxed. You look at TN with no income tax and their super high approximately 10% rate and you may think 3% isn't that big of a deal on sales tax, but that also includes your food. They don't give breaks on sales tax like FL does. However, the food cost is lower, so you might spend less or about the same at the end of the day. Shipping isn't the only thing brings up cost of groceries. I used to be able to go to IN & KY to visit family and I paid a third of the price for OJ that was actually made where I live. However, the overhead cost to the grocery stores was higher, so they pass that one. FL has fairly low property tax, for the most part but you wouldn't think that if you looked at national averages because so many homes are so high here, especially in the coastal area. You can get better prices inland, but it's not desirable. FL gets a lot of income from businesses and sales tax but there's a lot of money coming because of tourist industry. You get a state that doesn't generate a of income and they have to get the funding from residents. I'm looking to move out of FL because it's the insurance that's pushing me out, and the horrible summer heat which doesn't get a winter break every year. It's costing too much to live here. 80% of my mortgage payment is insurance now. We're having a crisis because of it. Even though my property tax is low, and after 14 years in my home the equity is really good on my house, but insurance doubled two years ago and last year tripled. It's unaffordable. I'm working on trying to figuring out the actual variances in all cost of living for myself to see how much of a difference it really is, but it's not just about that. I want to live in an area with a better quality of life. I'm originally from IN, but have lived in FL since I was a kid. I'm looking in IN and MN at this point despite the income tax. Years ago it was TX & TN to avoid income tax and have a nice quality of life, but I want somewhere I'd be happier long term.
Great video Paige this was fun to do! Thanks for having us!
That children meuseum in the middle of the hood.. be careful. The race track is not downtown... located southwest of the circle.
Races Fr I got a video of the vA police illegally arrested and searched I beat the case but my care was also toll even in Speedway
GOP supermajority leaders have promulgated bigotry and fascism with their legislation. If you support common sense gun safety laws and equality for ALL people, then please boycott Indianapolis and all of Indiana. We have unconscionable recent laws making one of the already most lax gun laws more lax, therefore more deadly. We Hoosiers oppose the no permit open carry proliferation of more unnecessary murders and accidental child deaths by gun shots. The open ideologies rooted in fascism, racism and other bigotry have attacked our children's rights to learn in our public schools and libraries. Please boycott, unless participating in organized actions to support our demands for equal human rights for all of us. Our children especially have rights to obtain a quality education without oppression and unnecessary risk of murder. Tennessee Three, Mom's for Common Sense Gun Safety, ACLU, etc., we Hoosiers are with you and thank you.
When comes to the city being spread out. My solution is this. I just live and work in the same town. I have just about everything need on this side of town.
Thank you for the input! I am able to do the same thing for the most part.
@@theIndyHomeGirl As a former highrise resident who lived down in Miami area I had everything I need from grocery store, movie theater, shops, restaurants and beach boardwalk only a 40 sec elevator ride down. All literally at my door step. When I look at a town I look for convenience and how everything is connected (ie sidewalks, trails etc)
Paige, Can you tell us about the seasons? Avg rain, snow, etc Thanks!
Hey Cynthia! I did a deep dive on the [sometimes] crazy weather! You can watch that here: czcams.com/video/JVeUwGsBP3w/video.html Let me know what you think!
Are there any police stations?!'
Of course! We have a great police force throughout Indiana- and funding has risen to help our city and surrounding areas continue towards safety for all.
On your list of Indy cons you forgot the crime! How much? Where it ranks nationally? And how bad? Besides the drug crime. Include those very important cons next time. How bad is the drug issue there?
Hey there. As a licensed Realtor though, that is a very thin line to walk. I would never want to redline anyone or give skewed information that could be perceived as my opinion and violate fair housing laws. There’s crime everywhere, but if you want more specific info on it I have to direct you to do your own research. I hope you can understand :)
@@theIndyHomeGirl Thanks. I titally understand. As a realtor, if you gave out facts, truthful facts, as a realtor you would not sell, folks would go elsewhere to buy and you would lose out on sales. Granted you cannot indicated racial makeup of the crime, but generally speaking, if said Indy is OPIOD infested, no sales in that area. But compared to L.A. or N.Y. Indy is better. Thanks again. Peace!
Dont go anywhere near 38th street ..it stretches from west to east across the city. Thats one area.. im not from there but i have family who lives there and they told me that while i was visiting.
hi paige! im looking at a job in noblesville, where should i rent nearby thats more affordable?
Hey Abbigail! If you're looking to rent I know there are a ton of new apartment buildings going up around town. If you're not wanting to be right in downtown Noblesville though you could look right outside in Cicero, Lapel, Fortville, McCordsville, Pendleton. The drive won't be too far. Let me know if I can help with anything else! paige@bestlifeindianapolis.com
ive heard nothing but terrible things about westfield. they're not too fond of dark skinned people there.
Not true.
rudest people ive ever been around. complete culture shock for me
??? I’m black and have never experienced any rude or racial problems in Westfield. I spent my whole life there. I guess people have different experiences.
please change the video settings to have subtitles.
Hey Educa, you're able to click the CC at the bottom of the video and they'll be generated. Hope that helps!

Love it
I swear Indianapolis has the most pro and con videos on youtube lol. I love my city
haha! I guess we just really want the people to know 😁
What’s the crime like?
Tornados in the Indianapolis area do happen but are not common I have lived in Indy for 58 years and never seen a Tornado. Different parts of the country have their own issues. The southeast and Gulf coast have the hurricanes. California and the west have fires and occasional earthquakes and droughts The Northeast has lots of snow and blizzards in the winter much more than Indianapolis Compared to other parts of the country weather in Indianapolis is pretty moderate. Winters are cold but not usually bitter Winter temperatures can vary widely. I have seen some February and March days have 70 degree weather. Usually, winter is gray and cool with temperatures in the upper 30's-40's with a few times a year it does get into the single digits and we have a couple of snowstorms but rarely blizzards or snowfalls of over a foot Fall and spring are nice but Paige is correct Indy has 4 definite seasons
A few oof the Cons mentioned are Cons you will find in any large city. Bad Traffic Not real walkable. Some areas not safe One real Con for living in Indianapolis is poor public transportation. Indy is a car town and if you do not have a car getting around can be a challenge especially if you live in one of the suburban areas outside of Marion County.
Public transportation is definitely a con to being in Indy. If you need to get anywhere outside of the immediate downtown you'll need other transportation options. Thank you for your input!
Winters are short ??? Have you been to Indiana before ???
i live in indianapolis and i'm COMPLETELY fine with having all four seasons because i did do and will stick with my really really STRONG interests/hobbies
Can do the cost of living for a single person
