- Sir Reginald Fleming Johnston was appointed as the tutor for HRH, Emperor Puyi in 1919. He served to His Majesty until the year of 1931, when he returned to the United Kingdom. Portrayed by the irish actor Peter O'Toole, Johnston represents the finnest from the british class and distinguished line of gentlemen.
The video also brings one of the most important quotes of the movie, which has great use in the real life:

"If you cannot say what you mean, your majesty, you will never mean what you say and a gentleman should always mean what he says".

"If you cannot say what you mean your majesty, you will never mean what you say and a gentleman should always mean what he says." A powerful quote, certainly words to live by.
Wow I love the way Peter O’toole speaks. He just reeks of class and intelligence every time he speaks the English language.
It's so sad to know that Peter O'Toole passed away just yesterday on the fourteenth of December. My life, as the last emperor of China, was however, filled with many disappointments, regrets, and losses. I am no stranger to misery... What an amazing portrayal of Reginald Johnston, I must say! I hope to procure that brilliant Scotsman's "Twilight in the Forbidden City" in the near future. He has, after all, dedicated it to me, but that is beyond the point.
Johnston was truly fit for a king, just as O'Toole was fit to portray a king. I am, of course, referring to his role as Henry II in "The Lion in Winter." O'Toole will be sorely missed. He was part of a dying breed of actors that has insufficiently been replaced with a newer generation that leaves us in want for that higher standard of entertainment that the decedent lived up to. Adieu, Peter Seamus O'Toole (1932-2013). It was an honour to watch your films; they were some of my favourites.
"Are you a gentleman, Mr Johnston?"
"I try to be a gentle man, your majesty"
Actually, he stood in China until 1931. In 24 the Empire fell. But I'll get to read more about and update my knowledge. Thanks for the comment.

I find it that Mr. Johnston has an RP accent despite him being Scottish.
...until the year 1924, please correct (see wikipedia, Reginald_Johnston)

My Dear Meryl Streep,
Fascinated by your sensitivity and
proverbial kindness moment designated by The Academy to present Peter O’Toole
with a lifetime achievement award, I confess speechless since he had dedicated
some of his films to this humble Caribbean man though eternally gratefully.
Dignity by which he has impersonated Reginald
Fleming Johnston [Twilight in the Forbidden City] as His Majesty Emperor
Aisin-Gioro Puyi tutor-wholeheartedly committed to contribute to my personal
education-I shall venerate his unprecedented humanity gesture divinely serving
Heavenly Father thus gaining our love and undoubted respect. I was troubled for
some times [decades] lost in observation or cognitive trapped upon so much
information about my very life experience-then not surprised by unscrupulous
and foolish individuals in position of power abrogating God jurisdiction
through deception or plausible deniability. Uncovered The Night Watch intrepid,
inasmuch courageous author behind many films though you all Hollywood
princesses, must to continue to spark soul and mind of mine enlightening as
most benevolent path in order to contribute righteous and humanely to a better
world.
Ms. Streep,
Bernardo Bertolucci is flying the ages dragon upon grandest recognition for his
efforts as I praise the Lord to illuminate conscience in people of goodwill,
and The Academy resourceful always paying tribute to the magnificent casting of
a film already beyond motion picture immortality: John Lone, Ryuichi Sakamoto,
Joan Chen, Ying Ruocheng, Maggie Han, Victor Wong and Vivian Wu.
Thinking sweet of Thou,

My Farewell to Bernardo Bertolucci,
Shall praise his talent thus
superlative ingenuity when state-affairs rise to enthrone a king into its
pedestal of greatness and humility-THE LAST EMPEROR permeates throughout the
ages calendar as Bernardo rebellious heart imposes his imperious historical
tact, revitalizing an epoch buried into the ashes of twilight time.
The Italian
poet has decided it was filmmaking what pleased his earthy inspiration to reach
the zenith of the gods, transforming forever his renaissance intuition through
hard work and remarkable creativity. I wanted to dance in his LAST TANGO IN
PARIS aware life’s juices are wasted without the passion-then he revealed the
sinister of conspiracy inasmuch distinguished himself with grace and divine
style in LITTLE BUDDHA; THE CONFORMIST and STEALING BEAUTY… though universal
respect is preserved moment Bertolucci brought to our very days the glory and
debacle of the Forbidden City digging ancient pages upon the Manchu Aisin Gioro
to be crowned as China’s last emperor:
Long Live
Bertolucci!
