  • I decided to cut open the after market brand Catinbow Transmission Filter and compare it to the OEM Honda filter. No bypass valve on Catinbow filter.

Thanks for the video, it is very informative. To me it looks like just two different by pass valve design, for OEM one the fluid flow from filter outside to inside and then through outlet. On pressure when filter clogged, it go through the inside directly. For the other filters, the fluid flow from the inside to outside and then through the outlet. On pressure, the filter would be pushed down, and fluid would flow through the outside directly and by pass the clogged filter. The only question is if the pressure level is certified.

There is no bypass valve on the other filter. Honda make a bracket where if you install this filter backward, you will not able to install the bracket in so the filter only fit in one way. I have looks at all the filters selling on eBay, none of them have it. Only the OEM. I also contacted the OEM ship from China and even the Seller doesn't know if the filter they are selling have this bypass valve. So use the OEM, or change it every year if you use the after market.

Damn, none of the after market filter on EBay have it. I better stick with the OEM. Some Sellers told me that they're not aware that their filter don't have one.

Do you know the inside diameter of the hose on the transmission line? 3/8” or 1/2”?
