- By the Progressive Rock Symphonic Orchestra (Conductor Mark Emanuele). Video editing by D. Winstone, and featuring a tribute to Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers and footage of Sir Edward Elgar. Modern orchestral arrangement (with vocals) of classic Genesis tracks from the album 'Selling England by The Pound'.
We love this video. My wife and I have watched it countless times now. Extremely well done!!!!
Glad you enjoyed it. Thank you.
The most amazing the great dancing to the music of the great
Danny Winstone, the lead vocalist did the fantastic video in this.
Great All is there !
This is my favorite song of all Genesis’ work - my favorite band. I know every beat, every bar, every note, every nuance of it. I’ve played it countless times on my drums, trying my best to imitate Phil’s masterful playing.
This rendition does far more than merely get it right. It is utterly brilliant. The instrumental crescendo literally brought tears to my eyes. Even the voice - and it’s so hard to match Peter’s plaintive tone - is perfect.
The video accompaniment is a lovely bonus, especially given the care taken to link the action on screen to prominent cues and changes in the 7/8 section. Once again-masterfully done.
This is an amazing labor of love by someone who loves the song even more than I, and I didn’t think that was possible.
I can’t thank you enough for this.
Rob, I am the Arranger - Conductor of the orchestra. Thank you for your very kind words. I am glad you liked it. I have a few more Genesis arrangements that I have done with Mr. Winstone on my CZcams channel, along with many of my recordings of classical works with the ORSO.
Rob, just to let you know, I am working on a blockbuster of an arrangement of "Supper's Ready" for Band, Large Symphony Orchestra, Chorus, & Pipe Organ. It will probably be done sometime next year. There may even be some live performances of it in the EU if all goes well.
I also have tears...
Descreceu perfeitamente!
@FatherTiresias1, Agree wholeheartedly. Mark Emanuele did a stupendous job of this, and kudos. If I had to pick a favorite song in all the world, my perspective being that of a Boomer, I'd pick this one, just because it makes me feel more majestic than probably any other sonic experience I've ever had, and I've had most of the best. It's the moment for me that Tony, Phil, and Mike, perched at the pinnacle of the zeitgeist, melded into The Three that and then there were. :^ ]
The only way it is possible to dance to this suite! The synchronization was practically dead-on, and the arrangement was lovely. Thanks for posting!
Yes, Denny did a Spot On Job on both the vocals AND the video! Thanks for the kind words on the arrangement.
Wow! Wonderful! Magnific! Congratulations and thank you, from Argentina!! Genesis for ever!!!!
Gracias por sus amables palabras. Son muy apreciados.
Thank You for your kind words. They are much appreciated.
The dance sequences were spectacular! Together with the Genesis music the marriage was for heaven.
The Lead vocalist, D. Winstone edited the video, and did a real bang-up job on it!!! I'm glad you liked it.
Christmas Eve 2019...
Still come back to listen & watch this !
I appreciate that. I come back to it too, often last thing at night. I did the vocals and video, and sent it to Mark in the States from Uk where I am based. I was surprised how well the video worked out - I feel some unseen hand was helping with the synchronisation, because it only took maybe 10 hours spread over a few days,
Denny Winstone
@@dennywinstone5666 Superb job on both accounts. This is pure heroin to me, or at least how I imagine heroin feels one feel. I can only hope that when I am in a nursing home that someone will be kind enough to play this for me.
How great to revisit a very old friend from a different viewpoint . Bravo!
Love Genesis ❤️
WOW!!!.. this is amazing!
Obra prima!

Absolutley beautiful arrangement!!! Flawless!!! It manages to be both the spirit and letter of Genesis all at the same time.
Yup, Corona quarantine 2020 binge listening !!!
Magnifique. Splendid hommage to both talents.
Excellent no more worlds.
Christmas 2022.....

This is FANTASTIC, Mark! I also have a version of this on CZcams...just voice and piano, but this!? JESUS! I am Humbled! Congrats! Great Work!
Thanks for your kind words, Mark. There will be (hopefully) an album of many Genesis tunes coming out 1Q 2019 (or when I fully recover from a medical issue that happened this February (I am finally home from the hospital but I am still in Physical Therapy)). We have already recorded most of the album, there are still a couple of tweaks we need to "fix in the mix".
Really perfect version and images linked together.
Thank You
Speachless...fantastico!!!

Thanks. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
lights out, apply New sound system (this could cost me - but absolutely worth it), sit back & enjoy.
tempted to revisit the old J, not something I've done in 30 years. compelling, uplifting !

Muchas gracias
Genial, precioso !!!
¡Gracias por tus amables palabras!
Sounds like the EWQL Orchestra plugin... that trumpet sound is distinct c: If so very impressive with the programming and arrangement!!! I've tired to do a similar thing with Fly on a Windshield and Hairless Heart
Dammy! I almost passed this by. Brilliant.
👏
I like how at czcams.com/video/txtmD-dLf-I/video.html the lower bass synth line is reharmonized to be the top line. It's really hard to hear, even on the remastered version of the original unless you are listening for it. And Banks never played that part when they performed it live
+plod Thank You, I'm glad someone noticed it... It is a great counter-melody and it worked very well in the 1st Violins.
there is more earth than sea if you count the soil below the water.
Yes, indeed 8^)...
My favorite version. Keep finding myself coming here to listen... especially instrumental pt.2.
Would like to hear more details of how this was done... DAW used, samples? Live?
Thanks for the compliment. This and The Musical Box czcams.com/video/HqzXqGln3tw/video.html
were done as a proof of concept project. Denny and I have recorded quite a few more works of Genesis to be released (hopefully) on an album titled "The Genesis Project". Some of the numbers in the works are Watcher of the Skies, One for the Vine, Eleventh Earl of Mar, Firth of Fifth, and SUPPER'S READY!!!
I transcribed the music to MIDI in Cubase to produce the score and parts. I used samples for Guitar and some of the drum kit. The Keyboard was an ARP 2600. The Orchestra and Chorus were recorded in Philadelphia, the lead vocal was recorded in the UK, and the final mix and mastering were done in Philadelphia using Steinberg Nuendo with Waves Plugins.
I am currently in a physical rehabilitation hospital recovering from a severe loss of blood due to ulcers so it will be at least the end of the year before this project has a release date.
Again, I am glad you enjoyed Cinema Show / Isle. This has been something I have dreamed of doing since the 1970s when I was in college. I have always felt that the music of Genesis needed a full orchestra backing the band.
Mark Emanuele
I hope you've recovered from you health problems... ouch !
Being an old guy, I wanted to let you know that your version of Cinema Show has largely prompted me to take up the piano / keyboards again after a 30+ year layoff... looking forward to your future works !
It's frustrating as a non-musician to not know the tech terms for some things, ( the "bells", "wood blocky sounding thingies" "flipped parts in a harmony" ...my ignorance shines through.... but listening to the many, sometimes subtle things you've done here literally put a smile on my face the first time I heard it. Your love & respect for the music shows.
Thanks, I am still in the physical therapy hospital, but plan to be back home sometime this month. I am glad that you are getting back into performing music. I know I get so much joy from writing and performing. Check out my CZcams channel for some of the recordings I have made of a few classical works by Copland, Brahms, Barber & Holst (I have a recording of my orchestration of the Second Suite in F). There is also an early recording of my arrangement of Keith Emerson and Greg Lake's Endless Enigma which I orchestrated for Pipe Organ and Orchestra. I have a recording that will be released later this year (or early next year) of the Keith Emerson Piano Concerto #1 with me conducting The Progressive Rock Symphonic Orchestra and Michael Palschakov (our resident guy on keyboards) on Piano. The recording was made earlier this year at studios in Philadelphia, and we are just waiting for all the paperwork to be done.
No problem. The "wood blocky things" as you put it is a marimba (which is like a wooden xylophone) The "Bells" are Orchestra Chimes. The very high pitched "bells" are a glockenspiel and a celeste (the celeste is like a piano, only instead of strings it has the keyboard strike metal bars).
😂😂😂😂😃😂😃😃
Personne ne peut surpasser GENESIS 😂 ! Vous ne comprenez pas la musique progressive 😂
Strange, it sounds like a midi-file .....nevertheless, well done!
+Tuurke01 Actually some of it IS sequenced (The keyboards and Guitars). The entire thing was transcribed into MIDI for producing the score.
There are lots of aspects of this arrangement that are lovely and inspired. I just wish the bass, and especially the drums, had been close-mic'ed to give them more presense and attack. The kick drum sounds particularly anemic. Otherwise an enjoyable rendition.
All the subtleties and beauty of the original is lost, sorry. All that's left is notes without the soul.
Mauvais.uniquement Banks peut.
