Beautiful setup! Can you clarify the comment you made about the PMM mag release and the Stryker trigger module requiring some type of modification for them to work? Wasn't sure if you had to trim the mag release, the lower, or both for it function properly.
Yes the lower had to be milled to fit the mag release.

I'm looking to SBR my 17S and would love to run something shorter than the standard 13", what size gas get are you running in this 10" configuration and were there any others modifications you did to tune it to run reliably at 10"?
Great looking Scar! Very nice! I heard cutting the barrel can fuck with the accuracy (or something else... Cant remember lol). Is that true? Or should I just buy a 10.5 in barrel kit instead?

What did you do to the front sling mount that allowed you to mount that Surefire?
Nothing.
do u get baffle strikes using a surpressor i have a 11 inch scar 17 with a surefire surpressor and had 3 baffle strikes already wornding if its the short barrel
No baffle strikes, the rifle would never be allowed to leave our shop.

They're custom blends like most of the colors I use.
How did you mount the muzzle device. Any collar, shoulder, or adapter needed ?
It's the Q cherry bomb. We threaded the barrel to 5/8X24.

Have you had any dificulity with rear bolt cant with the kdg stock? I really love the acr stock but im scared to break my scar 17 by putting one on it
I'm not a fan of the 17 in this short configuration.
The acr stock will cant the screws. It can be mitigated with longer replacement screws and smaller gas jet but it will still happen eventually.

Without the suppressor, how much would this actually run as an sbr?
First you need the SCAR. A SCAR is running around 3.5k atm. Then you need that short barrel. I won't go into the prices for a barrel other than the one I have. It's a 13 in FN barrel from FN; it's complete, gas block, front sight etc; all I do is drop the original, and install the 13 inch; price 1.5. Waiting for my tax stamp now, shouldn't be to much longer. Mine will be the same length his is but without the suppressor, while his is being suppressed. I can't tell exactly what Elcan that is if it's 1-4 or 1.5-6, either way they are the same price pretty much; 2k. So my SCAR 3.5, plus the barrel 1.5, plus the optic, I have the 1.5-6x42 Elcan 2.2k = 7.2, and trigger is 375, so 7,575. If you add the Cerakote job he got, to the public that would be around 1k, give or take; he said five colors if I heard correctly. That brings it 8,575. One nice weapon to be sure!

I’ve looked into it in the past and always find myself looking at this particular rifle in the SBR form and as much as the price scares me, I would love to own one.. Here in NYC it’s impossible with all the hun restrictions but maybe I’ll move just to have one.. I appreciate the full break down on pricing.. 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼

At the moment our books are closed to general gun smithing. Once we get caught up on our backlog of custom Hi- Power builds we’ll offer general again.
When I did an SBR on my 17 my smith told me not to shoot .308 thru it; only the NATO round of 7.62x51. A barrel shorter than 13 inches pretty much cuts the nuts off the weapon. Again, my smith advised against it saying if you want something like that build it or buy it don't trash YOURS. I love my smith, and I listen to him when he tells me what time it is. You should save up your nickels and BUY the 13 in barrel from FN. It comes complete with gas, front sight, the whole shebang. You may want to go back to the long barrel, or you might sell the weapon, God forbid! Have a good one.

To cut it this short you'll have to tune the gas block.

I'm trying to understand the utility of a 1.5-6x optic on a .308 rifle with a 10.5 inch barrel...
It was on there before the rifle was cut.

Maybe. Might be the 7.62x54r. the Russians and chinese sure used that round alot. Same with 8mm mauser. There's probably several cartridges that could claim that from the first half of the 20th century. Those combat deaths were way larger than any war since, and 7.62x39 didn't exist.
