Noëlle's elemental burst is also 15sec long (base) for 15sec CD. It's just less noticeable since she have big energy issues.
yea and only her stan use her since her best team is Geo which is not very popular especially after Itto cuz she take the same role as him, just with better survivability cuz of her heal but no one care about that sadly. Oh and on mobbing she can take up to 10 second bonus up time at C6 by killing enemies so afaik she is the only one with higher burst duration to cooldown
Favonius Greatsword helps with her energy issues and since Noelle scales most her damage from def the lower base attack of the Favonius Greatsword isn't a big drop in damage, but i use Favonius with my Noelle and I can get 100% or close to 100% uptime with her burst.
ah the days when i used geo traveler, noelle, zhongli, ningguang.
now i use albedo, itto, zhongli and gorou.
go all energy recharge in the over world and go for half energy/half damage or just go all damage if you are full geo
sorry if this is toxic, but i laugh at people who still use full damage artifacts on the over world even with energy recharge build you can do so much damage :U
if you are too lazy or don't got enough time i guess it's fine keeping full damage artifacts
I use noelle with albedo and some ER substats. She literally gets her ult back within seconds sometimes… it’s crazy how little her energy cost matters with good supports and batteries

Me, from the future: so about that...
Me from the present (semi-quit player) confirming my Ganyu with old build deletes enemies on floor 12 abyss to help me get 36 stars. Raiden's raw damage carrying the other half of abyss. I tried Nadia but didn't work so I gave up, but I'm sure Nadia works too. But Ganyu just deleted everything so fast I didn't need to try with dendro.
@@tor13128Nahida herself doesn't get very far, but put her on a team w/ Alhaitham DPS, Xingqiu support, and Kuki support/healer, and I bet you your Hyperbloom team will delete everything just as fast as ur other two teams 🥰

Ganyu is one of the characters that really made me want an Artifact Loadout feature in Genshin.
While her main playstyle of charged attacking enemies to death is bonkers on its own, using her as burst support in cryo teams is really strong too because of the cryo bonus passive inside her burst is huge and 100% uptime on her burst is achievable if kitted for ER with the extra cherry added on top is that it has high scaling + quadratic scaling go brrr when there are multiple enemies.
One kit I use on her for burst support is the 4pc EoSF with R5 Fav Bow which works well into her support and even a sub-dps role. The artifact 2pc and 4pc works well with the weapon and cryo resonance means you'll ALWAYS proc fav passive every E cast.
I put 2 blizzard + 2 noblesse because she doesnt really need much ER (around 160% because I bring her with shenhe)
and I don't think emblem set would be that effective
@@Masfugo That's great to hear. In my case, my 4PC Emblem substats combined with Fav Bow's ER pushes my overall ER to around ~220 which helps significantly with Emblem's 4pc passive. This makes an ideal cryo support 100% burst uptime battery Ganyu kit. This works very well for MY use cases.
I do think a 2pc Blizz x 2pc Noblesse with good substats might out-DPS a 4pc Emblem set with similar substats (not sure, I did not check calcd on this) but farming Emblem is much more Resin efficient so many people might just have surplus pcs they can use on other units. Just putting it out there, maybe they can also try it, idk.
I think this just reinforces that Ganyu is such a versatile unit AND hyv should already add that artifact loaout feature.

I currently go with skyward harp and can deal around 8-10k without buff
but now that I think about it stringless would probably better , but I dunno havent tried it yet

I think a highly underrated part of an Aim-shot DPS is the fact that there is no stamina cost, which really gives her already high uptime kit even more presence.
There is something extremely satisfying in the Absolute Control her playstyle provides you with. Attacks of other characters are guided by autotargeting, which is helpful, but sometimes can get annoying even in melee characters and especially with ults/skills (Venty, Ayaka, Diluc, hi). Ganyu's charged shots are aimed by you 100% and it feels like nothing else.
Exactly! She’s so powerful she’s considered easy to use but everything you shoot is manually aimed at which is more interactive than melee auto targeting.
4:34 I still think that you're misunderstanding Childe here. He's seen as a weak DPS before not because of Polar Star is yet to be released but because of lack of artifact set that can cater to his playstyle. I played Childe with Rust before getting the Harp & Polar Star and I didn't think his weapon option was the problem, it was completing his set and pairing him with good off-field pyro unit (which you stated in the video, is Xiangling which a lot of people slept upon d/t her being a free unit from 3-3 abyss).
Childe is still a mediocre DPS tho.
On the other hand he's a very good driver/enabler.
@@jakkubus accurate, Childe is a fairly niche char imo, but he's very good at what he does.
I think the other big thing to consider is what was considered meta at the time of his release. Genshin was still in its baby stages and most of the best damage dealers were units who could dish out consistent high damage themselves and not have to rely on other units to help increase your total damage input or even deal the most damage for you. Because the game was hardly out there wasn't enough time for players to build up multiple units in a team, best players could do was build 1 unit up to as high level as they could and everyone else just gets mediocre artifacts and weapons because there's only so much mora, artifacts, and weapons to go around. So viewing Childe as just a main DPS with not much help from other teammates made him look not as good. People saw his potential into cases where theres a lot of enemy units because of his Riptide passive but as a single main dps unit, his numbers weren't very impressive, and players didn't really see him for his true potential as a driver/enabler. Compared to someone like Diluc, who could deal a lot of damage on his own for example, Childe's long cooldowns and the requirement to play around it wasn't looked upon too favorably. Fast forward one more year and now we see Childe's true capabilities as a fast hydro applicator with incredibly high damage potential against multiple units and his ability to maximize on International comps. Artifacts and weapon releases for him definitely help but I think the key thing that made everyone change their opinion of him as a very expensive whale character that needs C6 to a C0 hydro driving monster is what really matters
@@kyubey4743 I remember his initial discussions as well. The complaints on his cd on the skill still persist as well. I can understand the argument but I personally don't see it as an issue. I'm glad that more players are coming around to appreciate him for what he is good at, which is what you've stated. C0 Childe is still a beast. If not for the increasing popularity of quickswap teams, I think ppl would still be sleeping on him
@@Majin_Fuu Although Childe aged well, I still see quite a few people calling him trash or saying that he needs C6-- even day 1 players who should know better by now.
Tartaglia is an interesting and well thought out unit IMO. His constellations aren't really needed (C1 for comfort, but even at C0 he does well), and his cooldown mechanic introduces a learning curve whereas other characters can be more or less unga-bunga'd.
Tartaglia's downsides are that he requires his teammates to be invested in and his single target dps isn't particularly high, but his hydro application and quadratic scaling are valuable (especially when there is more than 1 enemy) and many endgame Abyss players have built their supports and Xiangling anyways.
Edit: While 4pc HoD allows Childe to get the most out of his skill damage, 2 pc Glad/Shin with HoD work as well, and it benefits his overall damage even if his skill damage is slightly lower. So Childe doesn't necessarily need his 4pc signature set. Thank you to the replies for letting me know
Back in the day, when she made her first appereance during the beginning of the Liyue Archon Quests, i knew i was gonna pull for her without a doubt. And despite of all the leaks and almost everywhere and everyone i read comments arguing that she was just a Cryo Amber, i did not mind at all because I'm not into the "meta slaving" or meta gameplay stuff at all.
Up to this day, i still so proud for taking that decision back then, and she's still by far my absolute favorite character in the game, according to her whole design, backstory, surrounding lore and gameplay-wise uniqueness.

It's so annoying when people are like "it's just a (insert element) (insert character)" like yeah, they're gonna be a little similar. Yelan was a five star Xingque, Zhongli is a five star Noelle, Kokomi is a five start Barbara, Shenhe is a five start Chongyun, but they all have their own unique playstyles even if they share similarities. Even though I like having meta characters, I'll always pull for the character I like. Sure Noelle is a good shielder and healer but I prefer Zhongli for so many reasons. Same with Kokomi, I really love her character, and Barbara doesn't have a special place in my heart like Kokomi does.

Ganyu is absolutely overpowered
She can do a lot of things and she's great at doing all of them. She can disintegrate enemies from 5 light years away without ever being at risk, she can be used in short range engagements, she can fill a sub DPS role no problem (which is like using a heavy tank to open a bottle of beer but nobody's stopping you i guess) and on top of that she's as consistent as it gets

Eh, that cryo Amber thing was just prior to her release. And even then, it was never about her numbers, but rather, that her kit seemed sort of similar, with a taunting elemental skill and a raining burst.

Long Ago, When Zhongli and Ganyu Banner was released, I Managed to Pull for Ganyu, instead of Zhongli, due to my disliking for the Geo element, Ganyu was on my main team, along with Jean, Diluc and the Raiden Shogun herself, but everything changed when the Yelan Attacked.
Heeeey... thats my team comp too! Well. Even after Yelan I still run Ganyu, Diluc, Shogun, and Jean

Her infinite range is super useful in exploration and daily and so far she doesn't have any competitor yet, some enemies are hard to reach with just melee characters or some daily might require you to break tower that is far away, or maybe some flying enemies might get in your way
I always prefer to have her in a party whenever possible but for abyss I think she no longer that popular but only in comparison to her owner-usage rate cuz of how hard she is to use in mobile/controller and lately abyss don't like cryo character. Oh and most people already have her from her rerun so most people are more excited about the new Dendro while no one is talking about her
I’m getting her for the first time as I have always wanted her. I do play on PS5 and I am just hearing about the fact that it’s hard to use her on controller. Why is that? Ever since Sumeru came out I have pretty much only ran around with an Aggravated team in the overworld. Smacking every enemy around and watching them go “POOF” before I can blink lol. Due to this my Ayaka team has taken a back seat and never thought I would utter those words lol. However I STILL want Ganyu. I was going to use her with Ayaka, Yelan, and Kazuha. Then for melt with Zhongli, XL, and not sure who else. My Benny isn’t built enough..

Same! She's the first 5* I pulled for and she didn't disappoint. She allowed me to clear floors 9, 10, 11 and 12 of the abyss!! and obliterate the overworld ^^

Reasons to play ganyu
1 she has a consistent high dps with her charged attacks
2 great against both single target and multiple targets
3 can have permanent burst uptime
4 being cryo gives her acces to freeze and melt as well as letting her use the blizzard strayer for extra crit
5 cryo resonance can also give her more crit rate this along with blizzard allows her to invest muchore in crit damage
6 while not as important but her e helps to ensure she always has good distance from her enemies
Tldr ganyu is really good due to her high CA scaling , permanent burst uptime and permanent cryo application. Her element works greatly to her advantage letting her acces to some of the best reactions . As a bonus she also has several good dep bows available

@@Bullminator its actually a great thing she works weird with dendro! ive tested it out in game with dendro slimes (theres one near cryo regisvine) and because they can stay on fire pretty much permanently, she can reverse melt aton of her attacks
all you need is consistent dendro/pyro and you've got an incredibly deadly combo
I absolutely love Ganyu. She's the first limited character I ever pulled for (got her in 2.4) and she really really helped me get through past Genshin's content.
Despite having Raiden, Ayaka, Ayato, Yoimiya, etc., I still find myself coming back to Ganyu because of just how powerful and consistent her damage output is.
I just wanna say that your voice is super calming and I like to have it in the background when I play Genshin or when I get anxious in other situations. It’s both friendly and appeasing, and I get to learn about characters while I listen ^^

Honestly, I started playing cuz of Ganyu...
Her design, her playstyle, I love all of it.
I started at Klee's rerun banner before Inazuma (1.6) so I had to wait a lot before I got her. it was all worth it.
I feel like youve missed some details in this video... One of the biggest points that make ganyu what she is is the uniqueness of her playstyle... As besides amber there is no unit in the game with aim shot beeing its selling points... People might not even like ganyu but enjoy playing with this mechanic in particular and there is no better alternative for them to choose... As in fact Ganyu is in fact a direct upgrade to Amber in that regard and has been memed out to oblivion in Amber focused groups...
some people eventually find aim shot spam boring, but it doesn't hurt the character's sales since you have to buy them in order to get bored with them
Furthermore, that aim shot spam puts you in a fuckton of danger because you have to sacrifice mobility. The reason Lisa isn't popular is that her E skill has her standing in place forever for only moderate damage. If the cocogoat wasn't doing such massive numbers with every shot, it wouldn't be worth the added risk. On that note, if bow users had slower strafe speed while aiming, Ganyu would be in a world of pain because she'd be a sitting duck even with the strongest shields in the game.
Ganyu as a DPS does carry some issues, but these can be worked around if you're skilled enough to play the bullet hell. That's why she's so good. She has weaknesses, but they don't affect her ability to do her job in any team you slot her into.
@@Guns-R-Us_ i mean obviously... as i played both of theese i do know how they work... it might have seemed like i have some issues with it... but yeah i have none...but is a sad reality that if you want to even atempt aimshoting as a mechanic... and not just to light campfires... ganyu is your only viable pick as she is just that busted in comparison to anyone else.

She is my very first main dps. But not having at least Zhongli, Mona, or Kokomi make it impossible for me to clear spiral abyss, so I change to Ei and Ayaka. Now I come back to her since I am able to get 36 stars now.
I don't have any of the three but I 36 stars abyss with her and hu tao on another team.
You can get Zhongli and/or Kokomi soon. It depends if you prefer freeze or melt Ganyu tbh because freeze Ganyu doesn't need a shield and you'd rather have Kazuha/Sucrose/Venti than Zhongli. You can also use an anemo support in melt team but it's a little bit risky, considering Ganyu being a bow user she's kinda squishy and needs a shield, except if you're really good at dodging

@@Icysted No. Some people play Ganyu Xiangling Bennett and Kazuha. If the ennemi is not too hard and you have dodging skill, you can put Kazuha. I assure you you can put Kazuha. I usually play freeze Ganyu because I like it better but I play melt Ganyu w/ Kazuha in abyss and it works just fine
I personally think subdps ganyu is underrated the fact she can have 100 percent best uptime on burst and 60 cost
The fact she can utilise the elegy bow and give you a good cryodmg buff

I only really use her as a sub DPS these days, since I don't really enjoy playing her as a main DPS in most scenarios.
Better to have her boost characters I like than get benched permanently.

Ganyu is the first 5-star character that I pulled for 😸
I started playing RIGHT before her 2nd banner feature ran, and when I saw her character in the storyline, she was instantly my favorite. So when her banner came around, I was so happy that I got her! She's still my favorite to this day, and has consistently been my strongest character, so I don't feel like I'm compromising my damage output to play my favorite character ~
few years later, she end up getting the what happened video. Man, the irony
Ganyu was the first five star I actively rolled for (I'd gotten a Eula by surprise as a low AR player who didn't know I should save and spend only on banner where I wanted the five star). She is still my most used DPS followed by Yelan and Fischl. The only other unit I use as much as her is Kokomi, as a comfort unit and great support for helping low AR players get through difficult content (they don't need me to one shot everything If I can keep them alive).
She's one of the most F2P friendly 5* character.
No need constellation or 5* weapon.
Have good synergy with craftable weapon.
Can be played both as DPS and sub DPS.
Can be played in both freeze and melt teams.
Good at early game because her charge attack doesn't need energy. So you don't have to go for perfect artifact stats.
Is an old character, so you can max her out relatively early right away.
Her charge shot have unique ICD meaning it WILL always trigger reaction. Also it is a strong cryo application, it will destroy Water AND Electro shields very very fast.
Not to mention that her signature weapon drops from the standard banner, so you can potentially pull it without even trying for it.
And apparently she loves me. Got her at 8 pity guaranteed in my main and accidentally at 23 pity 3rd 50/50 in my alt (which is alright, my alt is often abandoned anyway). This is just unfortunate because I'm not willing to main her as much as my other characters or bring her to floor 12 as my main dps. She's REALLY good but the only reason I got her was because I got amos' instead of vortex for zhongli during the lantern rite 2. Such a solid unit with a boring playstyle.
I could remember the last banner of Ganyu + Zhongli, I lost to Ganyu and was unable to get Zhongli. But now the 3.0 patch came, I won my 50-50 with them both. I am so happy.

Ganyu main here. I dont think Ganyu is popular anymore. She's been in many talks concerning how boring, not fun, bland, and generic her design and personality are and how repetitive and boring her charged shot play style is. People have moved on into Ayaka as the "queen of cryo dps" and that shows. So far many YT polls on banners show that people's interests in her are the lowest, even lower than Kokomi and Collei/Dori. I haven't seen anyone talk good about her in months.
I like ganyu overworld since ranged and also one shot any stuff. i can destroy the two towers in that one daily commission before spawning the next wave.
Dude see 1 or 2 polls on YT and think he already see valid survey from 30 million genshin players
She did well when she reran with Zhongli. I'm sure part of the reason people won't pull for her is because they already got her.
I don't think people really moved onto Ayaka at all, as far as I can see people value both almost as equally. Even though she did fall behind in Abyss usage, I wouldn't say she isn't popular anymore.
If anything, I think a lot of people got annoyed at her popularity and want to portray her as "overrated" but that's it.

@@phorealthistime6165 I haven't heard, anyone say that, I still think Meltyu is arguably one of the best teams because of damage and also compared to other teams, this teams leaves xingqiu free meaning you can run, hu tao on the other side, You could also run freeze on the other side since this team doesn't take any of the hydro or even anemo characters if you run the xiangling one. You could even run sucrose Taser. I don't think there are many better team comps you can make with xiangling and Bennett and Zhongli, if there are can you name some? Rational is great but not that much better than Ganyu Melt, Childe teams are good but arguably around the same level of Ganyu Melt.

ganyu and zhongli will always be some of the comfiest and nice to play characters. they might be on the "boring" side to some people but i don't see myself maining any other dps but ganyu.

When I first saw her I definitely fell in love with her designs and was surprised on her first banner she was just using the favonius warbow on her trial but still she hits like a truck 😍 and I think she's the only character that her raw dmg is insane that doesn't rely on elemental reactions or any buff like Benny or food buffs.

hm, however, i do think she needs zhongli as a shielder. specifically in melt teams in the abyss. otherwise, she gets one-shotted and it’s irritating. ganyu is fun in the overworld as a DPS, but since she’s an incredible support, i mostly use her as such.
Diona can work as well, if built to have as much HP as possible

This video is like the overflow of emotions for me . It says everything that I pulled Ganyu for . Her change of attack type , her lore , her gameplay (and one more thing , we both are vegetarian so that is a biased-point . Found that out the hard way by not listening to her story while Cloud Retainer was explaining it , and fed her the Squirrel Fillet Fish in that event where we tested various spices) , her versatility and already having the other Big Three of Liyue . She has been carrying my account since her arrival and I couldn’t be happier! People said “why didn’t you pull Ayaka? Ayaka burst better!” But they don’t understand why I pulled Ganyu . The reason was her consistent damage , instead of one focused burst . Sure it can clear the content faster , but where is the sense of accomplishment when you just time a burst and the enemy goes poof? Instead hitting every shot dead headshot is something that is really satisfying (that’s why I am loving Heizou so much!) for me . She can be used for proc’ing melts with Hu Tao and Hu Tao can do so much more damage while Zhongli just stands there and protects them both , with occasional Xingqiu vapes and freezes (Mefrape? As in Melt , Freeze and Vaporise?)

I dunno why but i remember that she wasnt really that popular in her first release, specially considering that she was consistently compared to Amber (who was considered the worst character during her that time) when she was initially leaked. And that her whole kit was buffed up bc of the Zhongli incident. It was also due to the fact that Xiao who was leaked to be the powerful anemo dps was about to be released right after her banner, which greatly affected her banner sales.

Man, I remember meeting Ganyu the very first time when out picking flowers with Zhongli and just instantly falling in love with her. I know I started frantically checking her model for a vision, because that's a good indicator that she might be playable someday and was overjoyed when I found out she does indeed wear one. Was so hyped up for her release a few months later and instantly whaled on her c6 because I loved her so much. She has been my main DPS ever since then, and I've never looked back ♥ No regrets.

I think you should do a "Why EVERYONE Plays" with Yelan or Xingqiu (or even both in the same vid) as the subject/s; both are two sides of the same coin: rapid off-field hydro applicators that give substantial damage and reactions to the team. Notably, they are also useful by default due to being hydro, and they bring very powerful tools in boosting the team. Hell, due to the new hydro resonance, it's not uncommon to combine the two in a team, and I gotta say, a Yelan-XQ core team is sooo smooth to run and absolutely shreds everything that isn't immune to hydro damage.
[Biased take incoming coming from a Yelan main lmao] As for Yelan, I'd consider her as one of the most complete and satisfying 5-stars since the game's release. Her skill is useful both in abyss and the overworld; her skill in abyss lets you close the gap against mobile enemies (e.g. teleporting Mirror Maiden, knocked back enemies, rifthounds, specters, etc.) while dealing massive damage to them at the same time - very useful in teams where CC is unavailable or just straight-up useless; on the other hand, her skill in the overworld lets you travel efficiently, kinda like Sayu's skill. Her burst is her bread and butter, and it's kind of like a more offensive-oriented version of Xingqiu's burst; its rapid rate of fire combined with its tracking nature ensure that everything counts, thus more damage; don't forget the damage ramp-up as well, which, when timed correctly, can be quite devastating in the hands of teammates with strong burst damage (e.g. Raiden, Zhongli, Hu tao, Eula, etc.).
Personally, I'd also consider C1+ Yelan to be one of the unironically strongest hydro dps in the entire game in terms of raw damage. By that point, she has a Q > N1 > E > N1 combo during the first few seconds of her burst, thus giving her a huge burst of damage at the start. I personally have her C4 and R1 bow - her C4 is one of the first character-driven HP buffs in the game, so combine that with other powerful HP scalers like Hu Tao and Zhongli, and you'd have an extremely tanky team that just keeps getting more and more damage as long as Yelan simply does her things.
Hopefully, they make other elements have a "Yelan" unit. Not exactly a must-have, but you'll definitely feel the boost in your account once you get them and use them in ideal teams and scenarios.

I joined this game on day 1 but never actually got past adventurer rank 5 until the past month. At some point over the past three years, I just happened to decide to give the game another try during one of Ganyu's banners. with only a handful of single pulls, I managed to luck into getting Ganyu. Although I quit the game again after that, when I finally got into the game for real more recently, I had her ready there for me to use. She's awesome! I use her the most out of anyone and that includes the Raiden I got during this recent banner when I started playing for real. Great character.
I guess I’m a Ganyu main- does twice the damage as my Hu Tao (bad luck on artifacts for her)… lucked out on a great Wanderer’s Troupe and when Hamayumi was released, despite getting no prototypes for months, got 5 in a row and R5’d it. Most open-world monsters take 50k dmg in 1 attack (twice as much as Skyward Harp when I finally got one a couple weeks ago).
Never needed her which makes me regret going for meta over waifu.
I barely play her even if she can do more damage.
But I do have to agree her damage is pretty high.
I started playing the game because of zhongli, I fell in love with his trailer and I desperately spent every wish I could get at the start to get him but failed. Fast forward to January and I finally hit the gold (looking back at the history it was exactly 90😭) and it was ganyu! Being relatively new at the game I hadn't followed any content creators yet so I had no idea how good she was, but she ended up carrying me through the end of the liyue story + ascension quests with a chain freeze team. I didn't have any good bows or artifacts so she was used as burst support with my kaeya as main dps and with barbara and xingqiu for healing and hydro application
I already got Ganyu during her first run, and she is one of my favorite dps characters along with Ayaka, and Hu Tao. I'm currently saving up for either Kokomi, Dehya or Kusanali.

I do see her from time to time (especially again Rock Frog; she's pretty common there), but I think it makes sense as why she's not as common.
First, it has been a bit since her last banner, so you won't have the people that just got her and are using her a ton for that reason (part of why there are so many Kazuha's in co-op currently). Second, people generally want certain things in a team with her. Those that build for freeze comps probably want a good hydro applicator on the team, and want cryo on the mobs because their crit rate is crap otherwise. Those that go for melt Ganyu probably want a shielder (and team shielding is very rare in co-op... Zhongli with constellations and Diona). So she's not as co-op friendly because of that. Really, not much different than Yoimiya (squishy and doesn't like having her attack chain interrupted) or even Hu Tao (healers heal her up, but without a healer, she eats her own health, and they probably miss the big numbers without vaporize).

Ganyu is so amazing! She’s my first ever limited five star and I got her when she returned with kokomi a bit before sumeru. Currently, I have built other limited five stars like Hu Tao, Raiden shogun, and wanderer, but she’s still the one I use the most both for the over world as well as spiral abyss. Her charge shots are too overpowered lol.

The only 2 5 stars I want in the game (Ganyu and Cyno) are running back to back and I can only get one of them... Guess I'll go with Ganyu, though, since I've already prefarmed for her and have the rest of Morgana kitted out. Sure wish I could have gotten an Amos Bow from standard banner instead of 3 Qiqis, tho lol.
Why everyone still plays Ganyu would be a more fitting title. Dread it. Run from it. Power creep comes all the same. Yet Ganyu keeps being an amazing unit to have.

Will you do an update on Yoimiya? I find that more and more people are starting to appreciate her more as time goes. I feel like it could be a good special series on how a character moves out from "Why no one plays".
As more and more characters and mechanics are introduced in the game, Yoimiya's damage becomes more competitive to top DPS units more than ever, while still retaining her quality of life advantages (range, stamina, and team flexibility). Although she only fits as a dps, her team flexibility among the best - probably one of the few dps units who can fit in at least 4 different playstyles (monopyro, vape, overload, and overvape), each having their own variations and all being competitive, in the game to date.
I started taking an interest in Genshin Impact purely because of Ganyu.
Ganyu was made to be an off-field cryo applyer, but the devs gots pissed off when they saw the "amber cryo" meme and kicked off her CA multipliers.

The fact her charged frostflake can penetrate most solid objects is also a saving grace when you don't kill the one hilichurl or whatever in the corridor and it won't let you interact with a quest item. You no longer have to backtrack and waste another minute to kill the thing run all the way back and interact with the quest item again. Just aim in their general direction and watch that damage number proc.

I think it's quite sad that this video makes it sound so certain that every character will be overcrept eventually. I mean it does make sense because stronger character = more money for Hoyo but it just saddens me that there will be less or won't be any balance (even if this Genshin is PvE) for this game in the future.
Actually MHY has done a really good job with Powercreep, because main DPS like Childe, Tao and Xiao still hold their own against Inazuma DPS. And we also have Xiangling, Xingqiu and Benny who are by far the best 4 stars.
If anything, Genshin is cautious with powercreep. It had a LOT of it in the early patches, but other than a brief spike in the form of Raiden, the power level of the characters has more or less remained the same since around 1.6. Bennett, Xiangling, Xingqui and Sucrose are still the best 4-stars in the game. Ganyu and Hu Tao are still top tier DPSers, and Ayaka more or less slid into their relative tier. Zhongli is still the best shielder. Bennett, Venti and Kazuha are still the best supports. Kokomi powercrept healers, but it was necessary given how unused pure healers were, proven by the fact that many considered her bad despite clearly being the best in her role. Raiden noticeably overperforms relative to the sub-DPS characters that preceded her, but she's an Archon so I think it's fine to let that slide. Overall while strong characters have been releasing frequently, the power ceiling hasn't moved in a while. Dendro hasn't been fully figured out yet, but so far it seems like Electro's damage potential has benefitted the most from it, which is healthy for the game since Electro was arguably the weakest of the four "transformative" elements (Pyro, Cryo, Hydro, Electro) we've been working with so far.
In fact, characters like Sara, Gorou and Yun Jin showcase a level of foresight regarding powercreep; by making newer supports less generic and more specialized, it ensures that the power level can be brought up in some underperforming areas without allowing the most powerful characters to grow beyond a reasonable level. Shenhe somewhat undermines this, however, as she specifically buffs two of the most powerful DPS characters in the game, but hey, at least she's not universal like Bennett and Kazuha.
My only problem when playing Ganyu is that I can't see if my shield went down during aim shot mode. I hope that one day they add some indicator that shows if you still have a shield when you aim.

I remember when people called her "cryo Amber" oh how wrong they were. I got her and her weapon as soon as she came out and she was a massive upgrade from Keqing
to be fair, her kit is literally ambers, with minor changes, her ice baron bunny does multiple hits instead of just popping, and her ice shower increases her cryo damage while being larger.
The only really big difference between the 2 is ganyu's absolutely insanse charged scaling at over 600% for both the arrow and flower. if she didn't have that she'd just be a 5 star cryo amber.
This is funny cause I got Ganyu on her first release was super exited to have this "Cracked and op" unit and I haven't used her since Ayaka came out 😂

Just got her. Finally. Already had the resources to immediately get her to lvl 59, with a super leveled bow. Shes SO awesome. Hits hard AF right out of the gate.
I don't like bow characters (yelan doesn't count cause of her skill and burst) but Ganyu is the only bow character I go out of my way to use. Cause of all that damage, she double hits, applys cryo, and can hit more than one target, OP

Just pulled ganyu on the recent banner, im putting her on a team with kazuha, jean and zhongli, i like how ganyu’s charged shots break apart because im not the greatest with aiming so im holding her on a team with a sub dps, a healer, and a shielder to help optimize my experience playing her

I’ve seen beta testers using burn to apply pyro fast enough for even AYAKA to melt every shot.

Ganyu, Shogun, Kazuha, Bennett is my over world exploration team. These characters are so fun on their own and can clear any obstacles in overworld. Now I just need to get Zhongli on his rerun to have all "Why Everyone Plays" characters
I use Ganyu Bennet Kazuha and zhongli even though i have raiden. mainly because F*ck dodging.
Over a year later and my C6 Ganyu still helped me 36 star 4.3 abyss even though I stopped building any character for ages. I put her with the hydro units for the 1st half of floor 12 and gave her the blizzard strayer set. Ganyu certainly does the job of multiple people. She even gives herself multiple buffs. All the enemies were just deleted.
To me she has still one of the best DPS kit. No flaws, no downtime, pure synergy with all her skills.
I use her with Ayaka, and geared with Blizzard and Amos. Because, like you said, I often find myself using her CAs to finish enemies or clean leftovers with bursts ready for the following chamber. Not to mention how much she improves QoL in daily activities.
Oh, and she’s so beautiful and sweet.

I see a lot of people say she needs Zhongli to function for her melt teams and as someone who has both Zhongli and ganyu DIONA is literally better bc ima a crazy person who likes to run her with shim and hamuymi Diona being able to battery her burst back
one really good thing about ganyu is how all her abilities center around herself instead of flinging your 80% of your damage for 20 seconds on a single hillichurl at 1 hp behind you instead of the 5 enemies right in front of you because genshins auto-targeting sucks this has happened to me more times than I can count with Ayaka and venti point is centering your damage around yourself is far better than flinging it out
personally, the ganyu vs Ayaka debate has always been strange to me bc ganyu freeze is clearly designed for AoE while Ayaka as a whole is designed for single target or boss fights (the 2 areas melt ganyu covers)and this discussion on who does more damage freeze wise (spoiler alert between 2-5 enemies it ganyu by a long shot even beyond that though the gap is very small) it doesn't make Ayaka weak that she a little worse than ganyu, in fact, I have both and I do prefer Ayaka for bosses because once again I'm lazy (butifinbeingrealidratherjustrunyoimiyaforbosses)
I know this sounds like I'm bashing Ayaka but I'm not I just wanted to point out some of the major flaws that people always gloss over she is essentially a 1.0 character with 2.0 damage if diluc is an actual 1.0 character who has way smoother gameplay than her had 80% of her numbers hed instantly be top tier

For me, Gun Yuu literally became the reason I'm playing this game. I started to play for other reasons, but I continue to play because of her. From the very beginning, I tend to use Amber for aimed shots, and I did that to the extent I would neglect other characters completely until I get in the situation where Amber's kit simply does not work. I've learned my lesson and started to utilize other characters abilities, and it was fun, but I never got too good at that. So when suddenly Ganyu rolled out of gacha, and I tried to play her, I immediately knew she is going to be my main character. It's not like I only want to play her, in fact I level almost all of my characters more or less equally to be able to play all of them on occasion. But whenever I need to do whatever, she is the first one I want to pick for my team, and I only replace her if I know others will do better in her place.
