Dehya is kinda going through this right now, her release was batshit horrible!!! But now she is slowly gaining space with the new Fontaine mechanics and earning her spot on the meta, for example she is already one of the best team mates for Lyney, imagine what comes next

@@wits_end. honestly I didn’t have enough primos when she first came out to get Kokomi but I got her when Miko first came out (along with Ei rerun banner) so I got three Inuzuma ladies in one patch!!
Oh yeah her banner sales are trash, let me tell Raiden kokomi joint banner sales details 79% Raiden and 21% kokomi , it tells how trash she is. Even her first banner had worst sales, as fr her usage rates, Don't take into account who didn't pull into her. Since all her pullers are naive simp, it makes sense braindead simps wl use this trash.
@@wits_end. to be honest, there are many theorycrafters back then that says Kokomi will be great in many teams. It is just that there are just too many loud brainless players that gaslight the playerbase that healing isnt necessary and Mona & Xingqui is enough hydro for everyone's account.

When you think about it, it does fit her character.
If they gave her a passive with 100% CR, the same effect would be accomplished.
As someone who pulled for both Kazuha and Kokomi on their first runs when the entire community was clowning on them, I admit to a certain degree of satisfaction at how her reputation came around. Kokomi especially, promptly replaced Zhongli as a means of making teams immortal.
To give you an idea of how insanely overused my Kokomi is... every character in my roster is level 80/90 at bare minimum. A few high-priority units I"ve pushed to level 90.
My Kokomi is at level 82. Not because I used any extra books on her... but because after getting her to 80/90... I then proceeded to use her SO MUCH that she hard levelled up twice over the years.
This is why I don't trust the general Genshin community when it comes to characters. I remember when Kazuha was called 5* Sucrose by theory crafters, somehow people got the impression that was a bad thing.

Not just kazuha , some theory crafters still bad talk nilou , cyno and wanderer even though they are extremely good , and the worst one is some really say yaoyao is better than baizhu which is straight up false

You should level her to 89 or 90, because her level increase her HP. Her kit affected by HP
@@rewerI will never waste the resources and money on leveling my characters to 90. Even if it means I can't full star the abyss yet. I have most of my mains natually at 81 if not 82 in the process.
Looking back it's a good thing that people started looking past how much damage single units can do and actually started looking at other parts of a character's kit that can be made use of. I still stand by that idea she never was a bad unit to begin with. It just took a lot of time for players to realize that personal damage and crit stats aren't the be-all end-all in Genshin and that we're not in the early game meta anymore.
That's not even remotely close to reality, those factors do matter, the only thing that changed that perception is how broken bloom reactions (or specifically hyperbloom) are.
If she couldn't provide access to those numbers things would be still the same and it's not like she was made with all that in mind unlike Kuki, she was just incidentally buffed through how broken dendro is.

People were too quick to doom her not having any crits even though she deals roughly the same damage if she built healing bonus hp as if she would've dealt if she could crit, and she is also such a good comfort pick for teams that need hydro she's just a good character without being broken.

As a Kokomi main this is the most dramatic character I have seen, she did a 180 and everyone loves her since 3.0

Kokomi is a victim of hindsight and meta at the time of her release. with hindsight we now know that we were looking at her in the wrong way and the wrong lens. however, at the time of her release, it was very hard to slip her into any comps, partly in due to the lack of dendro. Dendro flipped the game upside down completely with its reactions. with the release of dendro AND the maturity of the game over time, it led to the perfect storm for kokomi to rise in power without actually receiving buffs directly. at the time of her release, there were units that just did what you needed much better. but as you said, the team econ need suddenly turned kokomi into the jack of all trades with little downside for keeping her.
she was a ticking timebomb. it was a matter of time before she exploded onto the scene. true to her character as the master tactician of watasumi island. best redemption arc, and true to kokomi's ability to think 17 steps ahead.
It's not even just a Dendro, Shenhe is the trigger that Ayaka, Kazuha, and Kokomi will work together as current best Freeze Team. Dendro only made Kokomi and Kazuha usable outside Freeze Team...
Some characters are still in state "only usable on same team", such as Mika for Eula and Kaveh for Nilou...
From being shunned by the community on her initial release to now being one of the most meta defining characters 😭 truly a character development
for me, its always aesthetics over meta. so when she first came out i WANTED her. not because of her skills or whatever, but because she looked just SOOOO pretty. to this day i find her one of the best looking characters in GI. that aside, she made gameplay SO easy i have never been able to replace her from my teams. she will forever be my 1. character (in terms of key binding).
Kuki and Kokomi are great testaments to “play the characters you like”, you never know if they’ll become vital for teams in the future

I've been a Kokomi supporter since day 1. Never understood why people disliked her and thought she was bad. She's by far my stronger character to this day and I am glad people finally realize her potential. They took their damn time but can you blame them ? Poor things...

Kokomi might be one of my luckiest pulls ever because I wasn't trying to get her and wasn't enthusiastic about it but figured I may as well put her to good use since she was one of my only few 5 stars. She's rarely left my party ever since
That was me with YaoYao, I didn't like her much at first when I did her test run, but I was pulling on Alhaitham's banner and ended up accidentally c6ing her in the process before I hit the 5 star, and since she was my first c6 I went "Well now I _have_ to build her..." and after that she didn't leave my team till I pulled the Kokofish, and she heals just as much as her too!

Same. I had just started playing during 2.1 and Raiden was my first 5*. As soon as the Raiden banner shifted to Kokomi banner during the second half of 2.1 I did a single 10 pull (at 0 pity) trying to get a single copy of Xingqiu who was on her banner as a rate up 4* at that time and I got Kokomi just like that. This was Asia server as well so I was probably one of the first players to ever get Kokomi even tho I wasn't planning on getting her. And yeah she has barely left my team ever since😅

Tbh, don't even play Genshin anymore, but I do enjoy seeing the community perception of Kokomi improve.

I suggested a friend to get Kokomi, when he was thinking about quitting Genshin Impact because his account sucked.
Now, after he got Kokomi (his first 5 Star after Qiqi) he made Kokomi his wife.
He made Kokomi a regular in every single team he uses.
Taser, Bloom, Hyperbloom and Freeze. He Loves Kokomi so much that he is now filling his hard drive with images of Kokomi.
I just wanted to help a Guy fix his account and I ended up creating a schizo.

It tells how kokomi has trash banner sales but high usage rate, becoz majority don't pull fr her, whoever do are naive simps. Case proved.
I just got her during her original banner, because my account lacked a second unit to sustain my other Abyss team.
It's crazy to see how much she was disliked and how the narrative around her changed so much with each following rerun.
Cant believe I regretted getting her by accident on her first banner. Everyone thought she was a horrible pick.
Built her because I "wasted" primogems on her, might as well get something out of it.
Now she's among one of my most used units. Crazy.
I watched "Why no one plays Kokomi" before Kokomi's banner 1 month prior ...but by the time she came back I had already decided I wanted her for her healing....but she even surpassed my expectations...one of my best supports

I've got a lot of hate and angry comments when I shared my exitment of first won 50/50 on her banner and that I can finally get rid of Barbara. I always new better then to listen to random people in internet who to pull for (otherwise I would't got my Kazuha as f2p at the time, who I love to this day), but comments was so crazy that from that day out I decided not to listen to anybody 100%, because people don't have a clue what is best and what is not for my account or enjointment of the game. I'm happy with all characters I pulled for to this day and I enoy playing them. I'm just sad people can't think outside of their box. They just repeat what some content creators tell them not thinking about it for themselfs. Otherwise, I'd love to be a part of this community.
Exactly bro, what I do is get the character I like the gameplay of or the character and then find ways to make them as viable as possible with the options I have. Like when kokomi first came, I was so surprised people were trashing her. Because in just two days, I had already found 3 teams where she was really good and had already realised how good she is on freeze when the only cryo character I had built was Rosaria. I was just thinking how can people complain about kokomi when they have ayaka and ganyu. That's your best support right there. And I had already realised how versatile she was. I kept telling it in CZcams comments and all I got was hate comments where people thought I was lying about her when they were the one who were lying about her supposed replacements.
Kokomi is the best happy accident to happen to my account and Im so glad Ive had her from the beginning. I have direct comparison from her signature kit came out and before dendro came out and she's just been getting better and better, it's been a wild ride experiencing her in these different phases of genshin and seeing her go from one of the most clowned on characters to a must-have in the eyes of the fandom ❤❤

as a nonmeta player what I absolutely love about Kokomi is that I can use my weak characters as long as I want and she will definitely and unconditionally sustain them. I want the originals Amber, Lisa and Kaeya to still be part of my roster during exploration and Kokomi let me do that.
proud day 1 Kokomi-haver here! i pulled her purely bc of aesthetics cause i was new to genshin at the time and so i had NO idea how much of a stir she was causing in the community until a couple months later when i pulled Albedo and was looking up if he and Kokomi had any synergy and discovered all the discourse
fast forward to today and it makes me so happy to see how much community opinion has changed on her 💖 (and also im much better at team building now LMAO)

I also have C1 koko! On her first banner I was doing pulls every time I could since I dont really save up and after her I got another single 3 star and the next single was gold and koko! Never happened again
kuki was never misunderstood she was actually useless because she was released too early, it's obvious that they designed her for hyperbloom due to her em scaling but it was dumb of mihoyo to release her in 2.6

I’m not a huge Koko fan, so I still don’t have her and probably never will get her.
But I’m happy for everyone that does have her and likes her!
Sumeru and Fontaine makes Kokomi better while Natlan,and Snezhnaya probably will increase Kokomi's power
Now I think Kokomi could be better than Zhongli, yes Zhongli is strong but now there's some enemies that could counter the shield
Also Kokomi could access some of the most overpowered elemental reaction while Zhongli is being Geo
She is already stromger than him. Zhongli only provides comfort and a small debuff to ennemies and some CC.
Kokomi provides much more.
That doesn't mean he is bad he is a very good character especially amazing for a character like Hu Tao.
She's already decent before inazuma. I use her a lot in freeze and taser team especially that time when we had so many wolves.
I (accidentally) got her C1 on her first banner. I’ve pretty consistently had her on most of my teams and she’s popped off in every context. These days I primarily use her in Ayaka Freeze, but she’s excellent in just about every hydro related reaction.
As a player whose first 5 star was Kokomi since her release, I have watched the trilogy with great pride and I feel nothing but fulfilment at this moment. Thank you!😊

Honestly one of the best redemption arcs in a video game ever.
I first saw her, did the initial free trial play and immediately knew how good she was going to be, even pre Dendro. She offers so much for so little investment.
To this day, Kokomi is the only character I've ever spent irl money on and she's been worth every dollar.

I saw her “why no one play” video over a year ago and today her rising popularity into top meta hydro is the most poetic satisfying victory I will ever see, even as new player I never agreed with the idiotic hate cause a dedicated healer obviously shouldn’t benefit much from crit plus she’s a strategist who doesn’t take chances do her talent fits her.

I started playing a couple of weeks before her first banner. I pulled for the shogun and pulled for her as well, and I gotta say that having her since pretty much day 1 has made my life a lot easier
I remember pulling for her when everyone was saying she was useless. Never had a regret, she is my hydro Princess and will always be ❤

As a sloppy player, Kokomi with R5 Sacrificial Fragments is the dream for me. She successfully replaced my Mona/Qiqi combo and if I don't get perfect timing with her skill being extended by her burst, it's okay because her weapon lets me try again. I wish I had two of her.
This video also really brought to light the way healers can actually be useful, and scaling is such an interesting piece of the puzzle. I genuinely think if Qiqi had better off-field cryo application she would be WAY more popular, because with her healing scaling on her attack it's really fun to build her out for damage and have her healing still be incredible. BUT it's so hard to have a physical damage dealer taking up a slot when elemental reactions are more fun and generally more effective. I love her to death and will use her as much as I can until the day I stop playing the game.
I've had her since day one and I'm so happy to see her show so much potential now! My little fish makes me happy :')
Got her on her Debut banner because it was also my first banner, She was comfortable to use for a new player, I didn't know a lot back then about kits, I just know that she healed good and better than what barbara (because cryo slimes and cryo archers were a pain back then for a new player), built a random team that could do it all. Diluc, Fischl, Kokomi and Rosaria as physical DPS and that Kept me alive to Inazuma, the team changed but Kokomi was too good of a healer that didn't leave teams I made. Taser, Freeze, Superconduct and random reactions.
Now with all the indirect buffs, more experience in the game, new healers I got, she still has a place in most of my teams.
She was my Zhongli when I lost in Zhongli banner during lantern rite 2021 xD
Simple answer Dendro. Before she was only viable in a freeze team mostly Ayaka one due to the consistent application of hydro but Dendro made her more useful with both heal and hydro application not to mention Dendro reaction are just too broken with minimum investment to higher output
The thing is even If she is a Healer there are better units for Hydro even for Hyberbloom. Also HB IS overrated as heck.

@@zenoafro Hyperbloom doesn't need healer because it already have one. And on top of that extra defensive unit too. Better use on-field dps
@@Dubstep_Gun yeah, Kuki and Yao Yao are healer for hyperbloom. But people can use different characters as per their like not to mention Nilou bloom team where people mostly use Kokomi or Yao Yao. I said her uses increased because of Dendro not that she is necessary. As for me I don't have her but will consider in the future for completing my Ayaka freeze team.

I have Kokomi and originally wanted her for Nilou. I have to say though its kinda cope since trust me when i say to you need so much Dendro application and since YaoYao only provides that single target actually i think for these reasons Nilou is really overrated as well. Go for Ayato/Baizhu If you really wanna do that its amazing comp. Or actually go for C2 Nilou and build a Hydro Dps Team with her as Dps it's kinda cope with Kokomi. And i also have Ayakas Team and while yes its cool and all idk If i would recommend. People seem to forget that there's also Mono Team, Venti is really good for Ayaka as well. Or Melt. Freeze at the end just gives you time that the enemys don't run away from you. Venti handles most enemys and when it's a Boss you can do it easily when you don't use Burst right away. (Kenki for example wait for it's teleport) You can do what you want but imma be honest for me personally like i said Kokomi for Freeze and Nilou is way way to overrated. Its not even funny. For Hyberbloom she has some strong teams here and there but yea. That's about it. Idk about the Archon If she will have any synergy. Will have to wait and see.
You can make Xingqiu have 100% uptime on his off-field hydro application since both his burst and his E provide it, you just have to stagger their use (Q first, E 10 seconds later, for example)
Kokomi was my first event 5 star and I still use her every day. World exploration, quests, domains, abyss, ect. she's always there. Never for one second did I regret pulling for her!
Looking back at her first banner, I remember a lot of backlash just because she couldn't crit in a crit-frenzy era for genshin; and all I cared about the time was that I needed to pull for her because she's a unit with pink themed colors and is a healer. Never did I expect that she will be noticed by a lot of people like right now haha
I have her triple 9'd and it's amazing. She really is a swiss army knife where even if I mess up a rotation having her in the team makes it feel good.

At first I didn’t understand the hate around kokomi as I joined around 2.0-onwards and I did not understand the wishing system.
Never judge a book by its cover, I guess. I actually never despised Kokomi (I don't even have her but always wanted to test her playstyle), but all of this happened because people should stop thinking using only one perspective: a team is not only crits, reactions, buffs and stuff, sometimes having a healer is okay, especially if it's a new playstyle that has never been featured in the game so far (i.e. Freminet, the first in the roaster that can literally be either a physical or elemental damage dealer). A wide variety of ideas and diverse characters contribute to a vary meta which I deem to be amazing as it keeps the pace of the game up and never bores
During Kokomi's first banner, I was rolling for Xingqiu constellations and managed to get her in my 20th pull. At first I didn't want to build Kokomi because a lot of players told me she was bad, but I decided to build her because there is nothing wrong with using a healer in Genshin and I like Kokomi's design, personality and voice (JP and CN).
Now she's the best healer in my Ayaka freeze team. No regrets.
This is all just a part of Kokomi's tactics 😂
Back more then a year ago, before sumeru was even a thing and before her 2nd run, in co-op i showed to some friends the potential she had, even at level 70. soloing azdaha after the rest of the party died and azdaha still having 75% health left.
With some nice dodges, tanking hits like a boss and timed healing, i brought azdaha to his knees as if he was nothing.
Its still a fond memory to reminisse on.
I got her on her firts banner after losing to raiden. at first I was kinda upset by it but still used her. and now she is an essential part of my team and I legit cant play without her (I did get raiden later on a rerun)
You've no idea how good I feel as an og kokomi and kaz haver, seeing their rise is so dang satisfying.
I'm happy to be one of those who recognized her strength at release. Yes, I was also a bit skeptical about the -100% crit, but it was so obvious she was cracked on everything else even before dendro came out that it just seemed like a fair trade off (and it is).

This guy finally figured it out... It took him more than a year and 3 videos, but he finally figured out the real reason no one played Kokomi...
Back when Kokoki got release, I did see a potential where she is essential in terms of sustain n' team survivability down the road where we're less likely to have more shield or unconditional dps (Looking at Zhongli n' Bennett), now we have more characters that have self inflicted hp reduction that further increase Kokomi priority in any team comp.
A side note, OhC is fine, but I hope for an alternate 4 piece effect, like Overheal from LoL
my first time pulling a lot was on the ganyu/komomi banner back not much after 3.0 released. needless to say i had absolutely zero issue through the entire game and was able to get through 36* abyss pretty quickly lol
Kokomi honestly feels like the best hydro character for a freeze team. Her jellyfish applies hydro just as the enemy's freeze status is wearing off, and just as Ganyu is about to charge up another frostflake arrow. It literally times perfectly.
I agree completely. Listen i started playing genshin back during Dehya's banner, and i've mostly F2P the game (I've bought the monthly moon thing, and a couple of the battle passes). through pure dumb luck I stumbled into Bennett, Xingqiu... the list goes on and on, I was able to make a lot of different teams, learn the game, but the one thing i noted I was struggling with was Hydro application and healing; my only real healer i had built was Kiku, and while kiku is a great electro driver for hyperbloom, and fantastic core healer for a team, she's still electro, so she doesn't fit on a lot of teams that might need it. I used to get to 24-26 stars in the abyss, mostly because all i had was one good Hyperbloom team, and half of an ayaka freeze team or melt team.
Kokomi was what my account needed. She allows me to run Nilou bloom teams, she lets me run ayaka freeze (ayaka, shenhe, kokomi and kazuha), she works in any team i stick bennett, she works as the hydro applicator in my Nahida hyperbloom, the reality is I actually find her more useful in various team compositions then Xingqiu, even though Xingqiu is all types of awsome, he's simply not as flexable, all he brings is hydro application and some solid damage and performs as a battery for various teams... don't get me wrong those are all great things, but in the grand scheme of things she just straight up replaces him on so many teams.
I was actually trying to pull for either Ayaka or Raiden but ended up getting Kokomi instead. I didn't mind getting her and I've been using her ever since. Not every character on your team has to be a all crit dps. Different characters have different roles to play and I build them according to their roles. She's now my main healer and she's also kind of a sub dps. I'm currently running with her, Keqing, Yanfae, and Collie. Yanfae is lvl 70 and the other 3 are lvl 60 atm while I'm at AR45 WR5... And I love my little mermaid! She's awesome!

I'm happy that Kokomi is receiving so much love now. I remember I pulled for her during her first banner just for fun and I got her in my first 10 pulls. This was back when she was receiving so much backlash and saying that she's a useless 5-star. I eventually started using her when I realized that her heals are so good and she constantly wet her opponents and started using her for freeze teams and she became so important that she's always in my party.
I think another reason why people downplay kokomi so much on release is cause her first banner came out exactly at genshin first anniversary and players were furious with the rewards to the point they downplay kokomi
I always loved Kokomi's design, so much so that she's the only character who I pulled for that reason. Zhongli was for the shield, Yoimiya because I loved normal attacks, Nahida because I wanted a better dendro applier. I didn't have a team that needed Kokomi and with Zhongli and Jean I didn't need a healer. I also accidentally got her weapon trying to get Raiden's, which really pushed me to make use of her.
Surprisingly, that wasn't hard. I've always hated having not full hp in overworld so she became my second most used character , second only to Zhongli who does not leave my Overworld team.
Her dmg isn't Ganyu or Hu Tao level but she also didn't have their fragility. I could pair her with Beidou/Fischl/Raiden, electrochrage the enemy to death, and not worry about dying.
I failed to get Venti or Kazuha so with Kokomi I also had the ability to go Freeze Ganyu.
xingqius burst actually has 100% uptime because hitlag causes it duration to extend longer. found this out a bit recently, normally can get it upto 21s instead of its base 15 because ive had his burst come back off CD before the last volly of swords finishes.
i initally picked up kokomi because of her aoe hydro application, we didnt have dendro at the time, but is till saw it as a nice utility that just sumwhat worked here and there despite it not being use vary much. man did that application go far

I remember when I first pulled her (OG koko haver)
she literally carried my teams so hard I used her just about everywhere. insane elemental teams and healing, I was basically being carried by her
She was always great, people were just too blinded by the "can't crit" part. I got her the day she released and she quickly joined my Abyss teams, she made my runs so comfy and I was not resetting floors as much. I remember that very early on, Kokomi mains pointed out how she had >60% Abyss usage (i think it was back in 2.3), and everyone dismissed it with "Well, they pulled for her, of course they are using her even if she's subpar". I'm just so glad to see her receive the love she deserves.
Kokomi my queen. The only character I was determined enough to pull for in every banner until I got her in her second rerun. Despite being incredibly unlucky, I have never once regretted trying to pull for her. She's my favorite comfort unit, and her versatility is amazing. Absolutely love her En voice so being able to use her in every overworld team and nearly every elemental team is a blessing. (And no, I'm not a simp, I swear-)
I pulled on her very first banner and not regret it. why? when i saw gameplay leaks of her and saw that she can do backflips i was like "holy fuck thats sick" and then dedicated myself to save for her banner
Sometimes I like to look back from discussions and posts from 2 years ago when peoples perception about Kokomi was negative and just laugh at how shitty their takes were lol. I believed her from the start and now I get to laugh at these poor misguided souls. Kokomi is probably still my favorite Hydro til today.
Now I wait for "why everyone plays Dehya" ....

I was just like everyone at her first release, didnt pull for her cuz many said she was bad back then. Then her first rerun came, got lucky getting her cuz regardless her power level back then, I still like her personality, and i realized she work pretty well with Yae in taser, it was strong but quite underwhelming compared to pre-dendro meta back then. But when dendro came (especially when i got nahida and nilou), i feel like she become one of, if not the most versatile character in dendro team. Really glad pulled for her. And still love using kokomi in the abyss.

its good to mention that hyv only buffed her skills hydro app after the beta ended, (ive always loved kokomi ever since her apperance on the archon quest and kept up with all her buffs, nerfs and changes during and after beta, and that was such a good surprise bc its not that common to buff characters after the beta ended) it makes me wonder what would have happened if she had the icd she once had during beta. she would be worse, for sure, but would the other aspects of her kit be highlighted?

I only pulled for kokomi after dendro’s release cause for kokomi to work in good teams u need many other 5 stars who are more valuable, so i pulled for all the other more important characters before kokomi thats all.
Really glad I pulled her on both of my mains.
She was my first 5star character I pUlled when she first came oUt and has always been sUch an important member to my teams. I am so happy that she got the redemption arc she deserved.

Kokomi was one of those character's that I initially regretted pulling for. I believe I pulled for her during her 1st or 2nd rerun. It wasn't until I started using her in Dendro teams that I began to realize just how valuable of a unit she is. Now, I use her in my Alhaitham quickbloom teams and I feel like it'd take the might of the universe to pry her from the team.

Ahhh, I remember being so dissapointed after winning 50/50 to her while tryna get 4 stars. Now she's a staple member of my Nahida hyperbloom team along with Raiden and Yelan.

Funnily enough, the reason why I don't have Kokomi in the first place was because of the characters that succeed her banner. The first time I had the chance to get Kokomi, it was dashed away due to Hu Tao's rerun. I then stopped playing Genshin for a while, only to come back in time for Sumeru. But now I was fixated on a different character Cyno. I thought that was it, but when v3.8 rolled, I ended up saving for Neuvillette and Wriothesley, who is gonna come out in a few days!
Interestingly, it's the same situation with Ganyu- I had the means to pull, but decided to wait on it. I *did* get Ganyu, however, during Baizhu's release. So, you know, it might be a sign I'll be getting Kokomi soon.
