- I join in as a guide taking a group of veterans down the Peace River in Florida for 4 exciting days of adventure! Lots of fun was had by all on the 72 mile trip where we saw lots of wildlife including several alligators. I was trying out a new paddle craft the Kaku Kahuna Kayak/SUP which turned out to be a total adventure machine, looking forward to many more on the Kahuna.

Trip, there is no need to explain further for killing that snake. I've scrolled the comments and you've answered appropriately, at least 5 times, that I've read. None of these people were there to know the threat. They're watching a few second clip on a video and passing judgement. I will let all snakes go, providing they are not a threat, except for a cottonmouth. He's dead, regardless. They are nasty critters. I watched one chase a friend of mine for no reason. He wasn't even near it. Another time, we were hiking and a rattlesnake was in the middle of the trail. He gave us ample warning and we just coaxed him back into the woods. The point is, no one here has the right to tell you when and when not to deal with a threat. They were not there. Period
If only Adam and Eve would have done the same thing.....
SailingandSuch no fucks given better safe than sorry 😐
"One chased a friend of mine" LOL You're a joke.
around where ? i live right by where you were kayaking and im going to tell you that what you did was fucked up. the damn snake wasnt even a threat to you, piece of shit.
Casey Dillard they do chase people that’s no lie, happened to me
I can just hear people when Trip passes by. "There's that crazy, fun CZcams adventure guy. Now he's floating down the river on a big ironing board!"
+Larry Talbot Haha exactly! What will he think of next? They have no idea!
Two great adventure videos back to back. Awesome job!
+Dante DeGraaf I know it! It was a good month
New toys, new friends, new adventures..... seems like you had a great time brother. Good stuff!
+spearshak3r Absolutely! Great stuff! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Trip..great trip. I'm an Army vet. Thanks for taking the time. I project the vid on my 65" Samsung..great times.
+michael bass Thanks Michael! Made some good friends on that trip. Wow, big timing it! Glad you enjoyed it
michael bass if
I really enjoyed this one and laughed at the orange shenanigans. Lots of cool animals out there, and that paddleboard looks awesome! Looking forward to more SUP adventures.
+SUV RVing There were lots of laughs all around. I'm looking forward to more adventures with it as well!
Trip I can not thank you enough for coming and helping with this trip. After watching your video I had smile knowing we changed lives in those four days. Reliving the fun we had was awesome. I hope you'll be able to help with the Peace River Warrior Challenge again in the future, and helping bring awareness to PTSD issues that some vets face. Getting them out there opened their eyes new adventures. For Those Who Have Shed Blood With Me Will Forever Be My Brother.
+Robert F Proud and thankful to be a part of it. Its was certainly a good time!
Been waiting for this!
+Styles2304 Hehe, enjoy!
Your enthusiasm and unwavering positivity is a joy to watch. I recently got into kayak fishing and have been watching different kayak related CZcams channels for ideas. After watching a few of your videos I am excited for the adventures that lay ahead.
+Lakenheath Minot Oh cool, hope you are enjoying your new hobby. Got to be positive! Be sure to have plenty of adventures for yourself bud
Awesome! I watched your videos before buying my kayak and bought one with trips like this in mind! Really want to take a 2-3 day trip down a river!!! Love your videos, keep it up! Also love that paddle board!!!

+Aaron Brinkman Thanks bud! We sure had blast, to bad the camera wasn't rolling the whole time....
Awesome video right here. The oranges cracked me up. We got blackberries here that's it on our rivers 😂 maybe some apple trees but far and few. Great adventure.
AWESOME!One of the best ones yet Trip.
+rude dogg THANKS Dogg!
Lots of fun! Lowest I've ever seen the water there. Looks like you've fallen in love with your new toy, don't blame you a bit! LOL
+Diana Hammond It was to much fun! And a great new toy no doubt.... Beautiful place
You passed right by my fire house in Zolfo Springs
I would have come to the ramp and say hi if I had known lol
Hey cool!

Thanks Chad, I'm loving the adventure!
Turkeys, Gators and Snakes...Oh My! Another great adventure Trip, looked like lots of fun. That SUP is awesome, can't wait to see more adventures on it.
+Marie Miller Thanks Marie! I can't wait either!
I wish I could have made it for the trip! Work always gets in the way, lol!!!
+The Furious Fisherman Work.... No fun.... Next time!
Peace river runs through my hometown! Awesome bass and snook fishing. Those wild oranges are usually sour, awesome video. 👍
Awesome Carl! Great River! Yea, pretty sour lol
Thanks for the video. I liked it and I took your advice and I slept in my hammac for the first time... Slept like a baby.
+Wyatt 7505 Glad you enjoyed the hammock! Your welcome!
Nice video as always, Trip! Looking forward to warmer weather. Still quite cold here in Sweden ^^
Thanks Henrik! Hope everything warms up soon for ya bud.
Another great video! Thanks for sharing your adventures with us :). It reminded me of the river we paddled last summer - The Beaver River in Heathcote, Ontario Canada. We took a drive to the launch site yesterday - I can't wait to get out there asap. It's still too cold here but hopefully by the end of May. Until then, I live vicariously through you lol. I've been watching your videos since last year and have enjoyed every one - always an adventure!
+Peggy Ledden Thanks Peggy! Glad you were able to watch.Hope the weather warms up for you up there soon! Hope you enjoy the future videos as well
Awesome trip that sup looks like a blast
+Phill's Adventures It was a blast for sure! Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video bud!
GREAT, YOU COVER AND ANSWER ALOT OF QUESTIONS THAT OTHERS ONLY THINK ABOUT. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.
Glad you enjoyed it Donald! Will do!
Hey Trip, I'm wanting to take my Excursion 5 inflatable raft to find the spring in this video. Is it in the Bartow area?
It's awesome to see your ideas come to fruition. You talk about camping on your board and I had seen that video first. Love this stuff man absolutely awesome 🤙🤙
Loved it when you heard the turkeys gobbling! Felt like I was right there with you.
Oh yea, that was pretty cool for sure!
awesome video! got my tallapoosa trip coming up soon
+Ghost Freight Thanks Ghost! Enjoy it!
Congrats on the new ride. A bud of mine has a Kaku Wahoo and loves it.
+flysubcompact Thanks, I think Kaku had done well.
Awesome video! This is my hometown and have never explored it. Moved away but planning on visiting and exploring for sure👍
I appreciate that Blad! Definitely worth exploring, enjoy it!!!
Really enjoy your videos! New subscriber here. I love your positivity and energy!! One day I will be back kayaking again. Keep it up
Thanks Live!!! I appreciate you subscribing! Make it happen, Get Out There!
Where did you putin and takeout on The Peace? I've yak-n-camped from Ft Meade to Pioneer Park over a weekend.
We started at Bartow and ended in..... Arcadia. Good stuff down there!
Trip does the chair mount to the paddle board? Need a link for that kaku setup
Technically, no. But there are eyelets that you can strap it to and hold it securely. Check it out on Austin Canoe and Kayak .com ;)
I really enjoyed this trip. I have been planning this very trip myself. Can you give me some info like where you put in in bartow and where you ended your trip.
Thanks Chris! Put in at the FL - 60 Bridge. Ended at Arcadia Peace River Campground ;) Might be doing the same trip again next year!
See some of the guys you are with have the bass pro ascend kayaks (I have the fs128t). Never taken mine on a camping trip. Curious to what they thought about them and how they held up on the trip?
Ummm, those 128t's are big yaks. They certainly can hold plenty of gear but in my opinion they are bigger and heavier than what I'd need or want to paddle. I've paddled one a couple of times and it's like paddling a barge but it certainly is a capable kayak.
Beautiful time and put a smile on my face.
+Rodney Anthony Glad you enjoyed it!
I missed this one! I have a camo blue Wahoo but watching this makes me want the SUP.
Uh oh! That Kahuna is my favorite for sure..... Love it!
Great video. Looks like your liking the sup life.
+Matt Rhodes Fishing Thanks! I sure am bud!
I've done the same route in this video 3-4 times. Love the Peace River!
Oh cool! It's a nice place that's for sure!
Hey Garbiel. Would you happen to know where that spring might be located? I've been trying to find out. I've done this river from Bartow to Homeland, from Paynes Creek to Heard Bridge and from Heard Bridge to Pioneer Park. Can't find it. I looked for it last weekend during a river cleanup. Gonna go back next weekend to keep looking cause now I'm just determined
@@reasonausbourne4383I’ve spent days trying to figure out too. Have any luck?
Where did you guys Park to go camping on Peace River, I heard you say you started in Bartow how far down did you go did you have to pay for parking?
Well, I can't really say for sure as someone else setup this trip entirely and we had people shuttle us. We parked at a business off the river and had rides to the river....
lmao, yall had me rolling over those oranges
+ddgg yak pak Lol they were a nice find!
"This is bitter!" takes another bite. "This is nasty" takes another bite. LOL Great vidoe Trip!
+Charles Ellis lol thanks Charles, sometime I can be a little off rocker
I do stuff like that too bro, thats why its so funny.
Love your vids new sub watched before and was very interested and probably stay for a long time 😁
+Terrence Banks Thanks Terrence! Hope you enjoy the future videos!
Trip..... I bought a Kahuna & rigged it up identical to yours. Still have to get use to balancing it with all the gear ... but I’m loving it. I watch all your videos & it’s you who has me “getting out there”!!
Oh cool Eric! Glad you are enjoying it, it's a sweet ride! Keep getting Out There bud.
hey great video Peace is a great river was wondering where you guys dropped in and where you got off the river at.
+Tom Jones GearGuy It was a great river! We went from Bartow to Arcadia.
did you drop and out on private property or was it a park? thanks
where did you buy the Kaku Kahuna? I can't find it anywhere. Please help!
+Trung LE If you cant find it locally, you can get it from AustinKayak.com. Good spot to order it from as they are still kind of new to the market and there aren't a ton of them out there yet. Enjoy it! Hope you love it as much as I do!
Where do you buy the Larry chair and the cooler? they look pretty awesome and do they come with straps for the paddle board? Thank you so much! I love your channel and I have been a subscriber since your Dog River adventure. Keep up the good work and looking forward for more of your videos!
How does one go about joining you on one of these trips sir ? Thanks for sharing the fun. God bless.
Well, this one wasn't one of my trips. I was kindly invited to join in lol But to get in on a trip with me would be a subscriber trip or RockaDock.... Not sure when the next subscriber trip will be though.... Best I can say is to stay tuned to the Facebook page and TripSmith.live
Was debating on getting a kayak a couple months ago and stumbled across your videos and you definitely motivated me to get one. Went out for the first time today on a short 5 hour float, it was a blast but next weekend me and a couple other friends are going on a 3 night kayak camping trip thanks for giving me that extra little push I needed to get one lol keep up the good work.
+Austin Wayne Excellent decision to get a yak! Hope you enjoy the adventure coming up.
great trip and nice looking river. Still not 100% sold on the ironing board......just kidding! Does seem to have some advantages though. whens the next live show?
+the wonderingelectrician Thanks! It was a really nice river for sure. The ironing board, it's just a fun machine. Next live show? Soon, maybe Sunday....
I had to watch again. I'm getting excited about doing it again.
Me too really... I was thinking about it and talking about it with my wife today.
I laughed twice so loud while watching that my wife asked me if I was ok. Such a great trip.
Awesome. This SOTr is happy seeing this. Man this looks too fun! OK. Fantastic filming. I watch your stuff versus espn and fox when football is not in season...
+Michael Mott Thanks lol, glad you enjoy the videos!
You going love the upper 15 miles this year trip
Oh I'm sure ;)
Hey Trip, how do you get back to your cars one these trips?
+Jack Couldrey This one was setup by Operation Outdoor Freedom so I just had to show up. But generally I'll get friends/family to help me or go as a group and do our own shuttling. Its tough sometimes
Damn, I had a few too many laughs. Hey, just vibing off of your energy, that's the best way right? Steaming from genuine happiness.
+Sunny q We all did! If only I had a camera crew.... It would be ridiculous! Feeling good vibes from others is fabulous... Thanks for the great comment Sunny!
I'll be tagging along with your well equipped, Hollywood grade film crew if that's okay. Ahaha, looking forward.
I've been a subscriber for a while now and must say every video is always fun. Like you, i also love the water and i feel giddy everytime you dip in the waters coz that's me right there!!💦💧🏊🏽
+badlongon Thanks for being a sub! Happy to hear you enjoy them, the water is the reason I go.... Can't get enough....
Hats off for all you do. The upper peace is swollen and very nice right now (thx Irma). We are planning a trip from Bartow to Wauchula. ?? How did you calculate your paddle times? how did you find sites? sure your busy, but any help would be great.
Thanks! Oh cool! Ummmm, I didn't.... I was along with another group who planned everything.... But, I have some videos that can help ya! czcams.com/play/PL-fvZ7RpVpmkwM742KTf55DF7z1ODMsn-.html
like always awesome video my friend👍👍👍👍👍
+Victor kayak Thank you sir!
gators and such ;) Great video!
+Mississippi Leg Hound Thanks Hound!
Hey man kudos for the headstand better than what I could do
Lol Thanks Andy!
Just found your channel, and I bindge watch everything. It is very entertaining, and inspiring!
What are the advantages of kayak over kano? I do kanoing, and have looked into kayak.
+Ferdinand Eriksen Glad you found it!
+Ferdinand Eriksen Kayak vs Canoe? I think a kayak is better in about every situation unless you are doing a lot of portaging. Canoes catch more wind, your gear is exposed, they aren't well, suited for around the beach or open water.
New sub here! Awesome video, and now I want a sup haha.
How does it perform in smaller rapids/rough water and sharp turns and such with faster moving water??
Thanks for subbing Austin!!! Aw man, the SUP is sooo much fun! I think it performs really well honestly... It's the same hull pretty much as a 12' kayak so it handles like that.
SailingandSuch sweet that's wear I wanted to hear! I love the way they look. In our area most of our rivers are a little rougher si just didn't want to invest and it not be able to perform for me haha!
Bro you Buff!!!! Like your vids man.
Ha! Thanks bud, glad you enjoy them!
I so enjoyed this video buddy. You should've brought some oranges home for your sister.😎
+Priscilla Isler Haha I should have! Thanks mom!
ohh a new vid is here need to get the pop corn
+Dion b-f Indeed!
what seat were you using on your kahuna?
It's a Larry Chair ;)
hey trip were abouts is that spring head along the river
I can't recall, that was quite a while ago.
We gonna hold you to that promise hahahah
+Laden Mullins Sounds good!
That was great Trip looks like you had a lot of fun. the paddle board looks awesome but I hope you didn't give up the kayak just yet. You should of added some of your camp fire stories, I'm sure they were funny.
+highvoltageclimber It was fun! Oh no, I don't think I could give it up ;) They both have their place for sure so I couldn't do without
Love the video, what kind of kyak would you recommend for a big guy, I'm 6'1 and 320 lbs any help would be appreciated, keep up the great videos.
Manufacturers will list weight limits for their kayaks. They usually give a range. Generally, the lower number is for all the weight central in one location, the higher number is for that weight distributed throughout (like stuffing gear in the bow and stern); but it also depends on water...choppy waves lower weight limit, calm water increases. The type of kayak you get depends on where you plan on going. Recreational sit-ins will be more stable than a touring kayak, but less efficient in paddling and have less storage. Sit-ons are better for getting on and off versus sit-ins, but you lose storage and can't stay dry/warm.
+thechosendude Good info by chosen, thanks for sharing. Id suggest looking online for used ones with a good weight rating. Get one and see if you like it or if there is something you would like better. Then you can sell it for what you paid for it and get another ;)
Dude , how awesome. I just ordered the Kaku. I'm heading to OBA in July. I think I'm going to do a little stealth camping myself. Great videos. You should come do some adventures in Arkansas. Great Paddling and backpacking.
Nice! You're going to LOVE it! Orange Beach is a good spot for sure.... I'd love to be able to do some more traveling one day but I've got some growing to do first before I can afford it.... Thanks for watching and commenting!
Need to try Arbuckle Creek in frost proof FL that's is a nice trip
I'll add it to the list! Thanks!
I was not totally sure what to expect from this new Adventure but sometimes ya just gotta go with it Right?-You Did not Disappoint me Man-that was great and the Paddle board is truly awesome!-Great Video Trip.-William in Tasmania.
would have been awesome to get to chat with the Vets on Camera for us but i guess some might not feel comfortable doing that.Great trip trip.
+dismaldog Thanks William! Yea. I want sure about asking the vets to be on camera a lot.... Next time I have a better feel for it and I'll ask.
+dismaldog the board sure was fun lol
I subscribed keep posting awesome videos
+Elijah Byrnes Thanks for subbing! I'll keep posting bud, thanks!
how much water did it take inside the hull?
+Rgirl's Yak & Sup Adventures Barely any, I was pretty surprised.
Finally had a chance to watch this. Looked awesome! I don't mess with any cottonmouth near me either, they're least concern on conservation status...don't feel bad at all. Any non venomous snake I'll carry away from campsite.
Glad you were able to watch. It certain was fun, no doubt about that. Yea I know what you mean, they can be bad little boys. I don't kill non venomous either.
it's gonna have to wait till after it warms up above 50, but you sir, have inspired me. I'm gonna take my eagle run down as much of the Delaware as I legally and logistically can.
+chuck thomas Yea, let it warm up. So happy to hear that! Enjoy yourself my man!
man you are pretty good on that SUP
Pshhh, it was my first time and it's easier than I thought it would be. Sweet ride...
Trip can you please tell me what make your hat is that you wear? I heard you mention it in another video but forgot what it is. It'd a nice looking hat.
Imperial Headwear from the Watership Series ;)
@@TripSmiththank you. I didn't know you replied back to me or I wouldn't have asked you again on your live tonight.
Is this the upgraded deck pad from Kaku?
It is. I had never seen the original but this one is pretty nice as the grooves collect little bits of sand and keep the deck clean I guess. Plus the lines kind of look cool?
Good stuff Trip. Free fruit that's tasty in Florida is a seasonal thing but so cool that it's available to cbow down on. A day(s) on the water with sour oranges is still way better than ripe fruit at work. - Adventure On!
+AimlessAdventures The fruit really cool are you are right in the money lol
Bartow I gotta check that out
Make it happen!
was the kaku chair comfortable?
+Rgirl's Yak & Sup Adventures The Larry Chair is comfy, yes. Its a tried and true chair that has been around a while that just worked nicely with the Kahuna. Its not made by Kaku but they can sell them with the Kahuna
Hey man, what boat is rob on ? It looks to have a lot of space on it.
+Ethan Lackey Its an ascend fs128t. Nice yaks, plenty of space, but it's big lol
SailingandSuch , where is It from ? Bass pro?
What kind of hat is that Trip? I can't find it in any of the descriptions lol.
Imperial Headwear - www.imperialsports.com/product-category/watership-collection/ Awesome hats.... still wearing them!
What a great excursion. You should name your craft "Michio"... for obvious reasons. I laughed so hard when you were eating that orange... thank you, and God speed.
+5winder The oranges... Lol good times. Michio? I don't get it?
Gosutto sent me here you should thank him cuz both of u guys are pretty cool makes me wanna go kayak camping
Awesome! Yep I have commented on a video or two of his thanking him for the shoutouts ;-) You need to do it! Get Out There!
Photo Bombed at 20:39!!! LOL.
Haha! He snuck one in there!
Those are what we call sour oranges if you mix it with sugar and water it makes amazing orange aid
Second Thumbs Up!!! It was posted for less than a minute and I am number two.
Less than a minute? But it's a 50 minute video 🤔
Don't see you wearing a tether to the board so if you do fall off your boat may go downstream. Is there reason you don't wear one? Ben Heschen
Well, it probably wouldn't be smart to wear a tether in moving water. If you fall off and the tether gets wrapped around a log or some object the current could hold you under. Not a good thing ;0
Where did you start the trip?
Heck I can't even recall lol Probably mentioned it int he video though I'm thinking....
hey ! you inspired me to start my own channel! I would love helpful tips on filming. also I'm heading to Orlando on the last week of April to start my new life. going to take a few days on my way down to go camping and kayaking. I wanted to know if u had any suggestions on places to camp? I a pretty good fisherman, if your available, maybe we could paddle around on an adventure like the one you just took. and I could teach you a few fishing tricks. I'd love a response! KEEP on Paddling!
I'm heading die. from Missouri and there. are a ton of places of love to see
+Fishing Finatic Hey Fanatic! Your certainly heading to a good area for some yakking! I'm expecting a newborn in a week which will keep me home a good bit for a while so I'm not currently making any plans for paddling unfortunately. As for tips for where to camp is get on Facebook pages for kayaking and ask. The Peace river is a good one though!
Lay your rod flat my man, that is the beauty of that Kaku, you have the space to do it
+Rodney Anthony I do at times especially when I'm fishing but I enjoy the open floor when paddling a lot. Love that Kahuna!
The spring is the very reason I pack food for six days for a 4 day trip.
Lol I hear ya!
How do tell the difference between a copperhead and a water snake? Not doubting your judgement, just curious for my own knowledge.
(I know... one’s poisonous and one’s not! Lol)
The shape of the head mainly. Poisonous have more of a diamond/triangle head.
comradely among-st friends is strong and extra Awsome! WHen will the next trip with same group
Great crew! Ummm I doubt the same crew will be back together exactly. The vets were chosen but a large organization from vets who applied.
is it liter than the a kayack
It's lighter than most kayaks yes. It's about the same as my touring kayak but is a good bit lighter than most fishing kayaks.
Damn how did the mosquitos not carry you guys away. What time of year was this?
End of March. I donno, they came and went I guess.
