    • @SimonSaysCanada
      @SimonSaysCanada  Před 2 lety

      I do recommend the Blackfin, with the caveat that it is as tough as it is heavy - or at least my 2018 model is. It can be hard work to manoeuvre it in and out of the water.
      I have tried many other boards - I like iRocker in general (makers of the blackfin) but I have my eyes on Red Paddle Co, who make arguably the best inflatable boards out there - but they are COSTLY..
      One day - hopefully soon, I’ll upgrade to a newer Blackfin - and perhaps a Red Paddle Co!

      The mangroves of Pulau Ubin (featuring Alley Cat) | Simon Says

  • @guidoz1747
    @guidoz1747 Před 3 lety

    Best yet since Singapore! This was worth watching, for sure! You should however compare Canadian mosquitos to Singapore ones - let yourself be bitten and then report on how sore it was, how many bites per square centimeter. If you don't have any information from Singapore, maybe Alley Cat will do the testing there. That would be really useful traveler information! :-)

    • @SimonSaysCanada
      @SimonSaysCanada  Před 3 lety

      Oh that one is easy! Canadian mosquitoes are smaller, but much, much more aggressive. They have a short 1-month window each year in which to procreate, and there is nothing in place to control their proliferation, as they are an essential part of the ecosystems.
      SG mosquitoes are bigger, they sting harder, they leave bigger marks, and can carry Dengue and some other rarer pathogens - BUT because there is a lot of effort to combat their proliferation, I very rarely got bitten, even on Ubin or in the Sembawang mangroves - both places would be thick with those annoying beasties up in Canada, at least between mid-May and mid-June!

    Oh, and that beard? I think most women won't dig it. Me included. I won't look at you when you drink soup or green curry for that matter. And why do you use a fork for rice or grains with gravy somemore? All wasted on your beard. 🤣

      Definately putting you in the NO collumn for the beard! Female mosquitoes didn't seem to mind, though - they wre all over me. And honestly, not having to shave while on a camping trips is marvelous as well.
      There were no bears in that area (I triple-checked!), only racoons. In bear country, you need a little more than a hammock to have a good night sleep :D
      Not sure why I brought a fork - I usually bring a long titanium spoon because it is more practical in most situations - or chopsticks, when cooking Laksa! Was surprised to see a fork in my bag - honest mistake.
