Oh my. Sure would've been neat to have one of the Facom spanner wrenches in the 90's +. We put spacers in 100's of hyd. cylinders and were stuck using a pipe wrench. Embarrassing to me.
Excellent sale and a fun video!
      Tools are pure drool.
Haha! I wouldve given $5 just for the band aid box from our youth! You got bunuses.

My wife and I go to garage sales nearly every weekend, as well as estate sales. I shop for tools, she shops for vintage pottery and glass. Both of us have far more of both then we ever will need, and both my garage and our house are over flowing. But, it’s the thrill of the hunt that keeps us going. We’re both in our late sixties and I want to spend the time we have left doing things we both love.

Mr Pete ; The adj. spanners I believe were made by Williams and branded Blue Point . The c412 bag was just a universal for many different tools Snap on sold . I was told once that bluepoint was snap on made outside of the US. And I was told wrong.
I was a semi truck driver for a year. Being from the south and only driven in snow and ice once, I found myself in the heart of Chicago driving a 70-foot truck alone. What an experience. Thanks, Mr Pete!

Good for you Mr. Pete. I actually got to go to one of those once in a lifetime estate tool sales a couple of years ago. I bought more than I should have and not nearly as much as I would liked to have. I can’t say that I need lathe mandrels from 1/4 inch to 2 inches in 1/16th increments but I have them. Along with so many other things that we rattled all the way back to the house.

nice, those Maher's operate in both directions without flipping a switch, most of the new test indicators do. Those FACOM's are top quality. I don't like their wrenches, they are boxy with square sides. But the pin spanner is a top quality item, VERY expensive. When I saw the title, I thought you were having a garage sale .. Glad you had a good haul.

Very good video(as all your videos), 7:07 as far as I know, this tool is for Motorcycle flywheels and clutches, it can also be used for holding other things such as gears and hubs with holes so that you can do/undo the nut/bolt securing them. Facom is a good, respectable and quality brand. In my opinion it is definitely not a junk.

Ahh, like opening King Tut's tomb, you find "things, wonderful things!" It is exciting when you see the markings like Starrett, Mitutoyo, Lufkin, Brown & Sharpe, and Moore & Wright.
Finally, how many 0-1" micrometers does a man need? No one has reached that number to tell us.

Mr. Pete, Nice haul. The $5.00 spent on the Band-aid tin of indicators was well worth the price. You can say you paid for the tin box and got the indicators for free. There are tin Band-aid boxes on eBay right now listed for between $4.00- $15.00. Living in Florida, we don't see too many garage sales like the one you attended. What generally happens is the person having the sale had moved to Florida years ago and sold everything before the move. Then if they need a tool after they arrive, they headed to Harbor Freight and picked up some piece of junk which sits in a box (after one use)getting rusty until the widow decides to have a garage sale. I've had luck at thrift stores but still you've got to wade through the Chinese stuff in order to fine something worth while. It's interesting to think of what will be on CZcams in 60 years. "Antique Harbor Freight Hand Drill Restore" and someone will comment "I had one of those and they sure don't make them that good any more".

I am not a machinist, even though at my age watching machining videos, I would have been a good machinist. I am at heart a woodworker. However, I just bought a nice (pricey) drill press to replace the one I have used for 35 years. I gave my old one to my grandsons. I was really wanting to know the runout on the chuck to see if I did ok with my purchase. I have a new magnetic indicator holder but cannot find an indicator in my budget. Truth be told, I am not sure even what type I need to check the runout as well as the runout many other tools such as my table saw blade or lathe spindle. I may have to make a trip up north to find the items you find. I have never visited a yard sale or auction or anything similar in TN that has tools like you find regularly and get for a reasonable price. Thanks.

Boy, I wish they had sales like that in our area.

At a garage sale recently I got a set of 6-32 to 1/2-13 spiral point and spiral flute taps, all new, 6 carbide end mills, all new and a 81pc set of gauge blocks for $40. Those sales are really rare around here

I am from Europe and facom is well known in Europe.
It's one off the best brands and they have really nice tools but are expensive.
I worked with that facom tool for years and it's great quality 👍
    My whole toolbox was facom

I am shocked that I have never heard of that brand. We never see European tools over here except perhaps some items from Germany.

I've found that with a number of sticking test gauges that they're over oiled which cause them to stick. Open them up and you find an oil slick.. No good. Just as in fine watchmaking there is the proper amount of lubrication to be applied after the pivot points are first cleaned.
There is also the right kind of oil to use after they've been thoroughly cleaned.

Happy Father's Day! The number and quality of garage/estate sales around me have been really bad so far this year. I'm glad you're having good luck!

I assure you, that I will probably never see another great garage sale in my life. It is extremely rare.

The Mahr indicators are pretty expensive. Granger has a similar model over $300

Thanks. The 3 dovetails on the MAHR look to be very versatility enhancing. The Facom tools are much nicer looking now then in the 60-70's, they were boxy, squarish, light weight with a barely rust resistant finish & raised numbers that you could read from 3 meters away. Not graceful & smooth like Snap-On in any way at all, almost like the French went out of their way to be an anti-Snap-On!

Facom is sold with Proto in their catalog. So they got some sort of connection. they tend to have the more specialized tools. Quality stuff though in my book!

I am looking forward to seeing the Mitutoyo Video. That looks like quite a selection of. promotional material. and tools.
I think it's a shame that they stopped selling Band-Aids in the little flip top cans or metal boxes, or whatever you choose to call them. They were just the handiest things for storing small parts.
Please keep making these videos. There are a lot of us out here that really enjoy them.

One of the reasons I follow you is that you continue to go to auctions and garage sales after you say you won't go to any more. I love buying stuff I don't need.
