    I remember reading an interview with Paul when Verizon ended their ad campaign, he said that he had made a lot of money, which was nice because the contract with Verizon said that he could NOT do commercials for ANYONE for x amount of years. I think that is kind of interesting to think about, when that time frame expired did his agent just start calling all the phone companies... "Hey! Paul is available now." Or did Sprint hunt him down because they knew his agreement with Verizon had finally expired?

    It’s not just money. When you are in a huge ad campaign like “Can you hear me now?” You are not allowed to be contracted to competing businesses for a certain amount of time. From what I can recall, he was unable to get other commercial work for 10 years? That’s why it was so long for him to pop up. Meanwhile, he’s stuck in a contract with a company that is forcing him to stay in the closet. I know the commercials are annoying, but the dude just wanted some revenge. When you’re a commercial actor, you’ve got almost no rights. I’m sure you’ve gotten this comment a million times already, but honestly, as a queer actor, I just hop eother people scrolling the comments will see this and have little more sympathy for the dude. He doesn’t write the fucking commercials, he was just trying to make some money with a company that wouldn’t actively oppress him. Especially because the only good way to make money in commercials is national campaigns, and once you’re in one, you can’t get another for a VERY long time.

Both of those haunting over-played ad campaigns had been so successfully repressed watching this video was a new kind of jump scare. But like also eddys bravery in saying what we all were thinking is free healing. 10/10.

    The FitnessGram™ Pacer Test is a multistage aerobic capacity test that progressively gets more difficult as it continues. The 20 meter pacer test will begin in 30 seconds. Line up at the start. The running speed starts slowly, but gets faster each minute after you hear this signal. [beep] A single lap should be completed each time you hear this sound. [ding] Remember to run in a straight line, and run as long as possible. The second time you fail to complete a lap before the sound, your test is over. The test will begin on the word start. On your mark, get ready, start.

    I kind of like these commercials actually cause he got fired from Verizon for being gay. He had difficulty getting jobs for a while i think then sprint picked him up! That guy in the Christmas tree that he gives the coffee to actually is his boyfriend! Idk i know corporate pinkwashing is pretty bad but i am a simple gay desperate for acceptance from society so every time i see him give his boyfriend the coffee my heart is like :)

      @emilyb.8219 Před 5 lety +27

      I know your comment is a year old but I feel the need to tell you that I'm fairly certain he didn't get fired for being gay; his contract with Verizon just ended because they stopped running that ad campaign.

    • @neenanothing7035
      @neenanothing7035 Před 5 lety +23

      To piggy back off what the other person said. He wasn’t fired for being gay, he actually wasn’t fired at all. The marketing campaign ended but since he was under contract he continued “working” for Verizon with pay. The part people are confusing is that the Verizon “Test Man” was supposed to remain anonymous, his name and identity were never supposed to be shared. So he attempted to hid his identity and divert attention from himself to avoid violating the contract. There was an incident where teens were stalking him and yelling homophobic slurs and he did not file a report for fear of the media finding out and making him and his life public. I think people confusing the situation and think he was fired for the event when he wasn’t and it was also his decision to go to that extreme. He was never told not to report the teens. He is just now making appearances because his contract is over and Verizon no longer uses that commercial. He says all this in an interview with the Huffington Post from last year. www.google.com/amp/s/m.huffpost.com/us/entry/848761/amp
