Is the 2020 Honda Odyssey the Minivan to BUY instead of an SUV?

- The Honda Odyssey has some important changes for 2020. Under the hood is a 3.5L V6 producing 280 HP & mated to an ALL new 10 speed-automatic. Its exterior has traditional Honda Styling while it's interior has TONS of space and lots of well engineered areas. Does the 2020 Honda Odyssey prove you don't need a SUV?

This Odyssey and Joe Raiti is a match made in heaven with all these secret snack compartments.
It's the SNACK WAGON!
Absolutely!! 🥰
Raiti's Rides especially Twinkies 😝
Raiti's Rides Hey Joe, would you recommend the Odyssey as the best minivan? Also, do you think it can do well in snow without AWD?
he doesn't get fed much, think I saw him at the zoo stealing peanuts from elephants
i once drove a toyota sienna and it changed my whole perspective about mini vans. they are the chillest and easiest to drive.
Thanks for sharing that awesome input and perspective!
I always liked the way Honda vehicles handle and STOPS on a dime. Toyota has been using acidic coolant in their recent models which prematurely leaks waterpump, heater core, radiator sooner or later. That's a trap set by Toyota which one can not avoid.
I once drove a Toyota Sienna too. THen I went right back to the Odyssey...
I love getting reviews from someone the drove in this car for several months and gave an honest remove review unlike those people that test drive for 10min and pretend to know it all in a name of content. Good job on the video
I'm still driving my 95 Odyssey. One of these days I'll get a new one.
Thanks for sharing that great ownership input.
Curious, why another minivan?
Minivans can do it all. Add the Honda driving experience and you've found the right model.
Im still driving my 2004 Honda Odyssey
Dont get new one. You will be at dealership 20 times before you hit 20k miles.
Had at my disposal a 2010 & 2012 Odyssey, in my final years with Honda, as a company vehicle, and I loved them, and quite impressed with the ride on long trips!
The room inside is really impressive! Minivans are great to use as shuttles for hotels and stuff too
I totally agree!
Thanks. Husband just bought me this yr and model. Your vid helped me learn it faster and enjoy all the perks it offers. I'm excited for its delivery 🙌
This is awesome Joe! I am still saving up for the 97-2001 nsx and the gt350r but its awesome you have such a diversity among your cars that you cover! i thought you were only a performance car person! keep it up Raiti! love you brother
Love the minivan reviews, keep them coming joe!
Yesterday, I just picked up the 2020 Odyssey EXL with the rear entertainment system (RES) and GPS. I switched over to Odyssey since 2003. I put in a lot of mileage in the van each year and love the smell of the new one. Thus, I traded in and got a new model every year. The MSRP is about the same for the last four years (2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020). Everything that you have mentioned in the video is correct. Plus, the second-row seat is effortless to remove as needed. Finally, the seat can slide over when removing the middle-seat to get more space for getting in the third row. Thanks for the video.
I had a basic 1984 Caravan and then graduated to a 1991 extended version one. The best feature was the second row captain's chairs so my kids didn't have to touch each other. It was a great car for when I needed a lot of space. The worse zonk was having to physically take the 3rd row out of the car and store it in the garage when more room was needed for hauling stuff.
My hubby bought me one for our two Old English Sheepdogs and I love it. We have a white Elite and it drives and rides beautifully. It is so nice to press the key fob and they run to jump in. We are looking forward to traveling in the fall......with the dogs, of course.
I love your videos man, keep pumping out the content. I look forward to your videos every single day. On the other hand, I would really like to see you go over the infotainment screen and what features differ from other brands.
Thanks Matt! I appreciate your support! I will try to fit a review in about that. Thanks for the feedback.
I bet the features are similar
We'll be getting the Odyssey this year and you sold me on this van because I'm pregnant and need all the snack hiding spots possible. Thanks for the video!
Joe, the Odyssey was one I was looking at. However, I wanted all wheel drive. I went with the 2020 Pilot EX-L and very happy.
Thanks for your reviews.
Just got the Odyssey Elite in anticipation of baby # 3. Thing is awesome.
Thanks for pointing out the crease on the hood. I noticed the first crease in the sliding door that starts from the front door (or the fender) and ends at the quarter panel.
Second crease that flows from front door to sliding door. IDK but creases add some character to a vehicle. But when this is 20 years, the creases will be called, wrinkles. Best.
This has more space then a caddy Escalade
You can say that again!
Quality & reliability and... longevity
@@jj5515 no question
Thanks for the entertaining and thorough review! I'm off to buy my EX-L and a boatload of snacks to fill all of those snack compartments!
We just bought a EX-l with nav and res last Friday. To get this kind of space in a SUV, you'd have to go for a Expedition, Tahoe, Yukon, or Escalade and spend atleast an additional $15k and not have near the luxury options. My wife and I would have never guessed in a million years that we would ever buy a minivan, but we did.
Great review joe.. I have the same van combo but in diamond white pearl.. upgraded from a 5 passenger acura.. family grew. I will say for my first van its definitely great vehicle
Thanks for saying that Jerelle. I appreciate you sharing your ownership input!
@@RaitisRides indeed ! Keep the videos coming 👍🏿
Brother Joe first off all happy New year . i asked before i would love to see Buick and Volvo cars and suv.s on your list and i hope very soon i see you reviewing one off those cars or suv.s
Vsbsb Hdhdb he does lots of suvs
Those vans ride very smooth i like driving mini vans even tho my daily driver is a f150 2007 due to my job🤙
I totally agree with you!
my grandpa had a 97 town n country that van was undestructible, made 7 trips from Minnesota to Mexico throughout the years it had almost 300k miles when he finally sold it running as strong as ever, i really miss that van 😏
How do you like it ?
I agreed with you about the minivan! I have a 2007 Sienna and it is my choice of transportation for a long trip drive. It is like sitting on a sofa in your living room all day long. l don't think I ever NOT owning a van even though I do have a compact SUV for around town commute.
Awesome vid! Where’s the 2020 Prius review at? I’m really itching to get one
I will be getting that up probably over the weekend.
Happy New Year Joe!!!
Same to you my friend!
We just purchased a 2016 Honda Odyssey and WE LOVE IT!! It’s so spacious and drives very smooth!!
Congrats Eva! I am so happy you found the right vehicle.
Raiti's Rides Thank you very much!
My 2003 Yukon, I loved it but..the fuel mileage was not so good. I’m buying an Odyssey Elite with package A.
Another great review 🙌 my family owns a 2006 Odyssey, and it's a great car, but it's just a little too long for my liking 😅 would love to drive this car since it seems like it huge step up from the '06 model
Thanks for saying that! I appreciate the ownership input.
We own a 2000 Oddy with 401,000 miles on it. It was in fairly good shape for a 20 year-old vehicle until another driver sideswiped us a week before Christmas and raked the passenger side of the vehicle from wheel well to wheel well. We love our van and will replace it with a 2020 EX later this year.
Fantastic review, so detailed and honest!
Thanks for the video! I wish you had said something about Honda Odyssey's issue such as transmission problem since they are very famous of.
Thanks for sharing your input and perspective. I appreciate you watching!
“A refrigerator rolling down the road” 😂
Thanks for letting me share some laughs with you!
Thank you Raiti...I just leased the 2020 Honda Odyssey Elite and am picking it up this Saturday. I traded in my 2017 Chrysler Pacifica Touring. I spend like 30x going to the dealership for problems with that vehicle. I have always owned Honda's but my first van was Chrysler. It had all the bells and whistles but it was not a dependable van.
Kim` Sear Chrysler anything sucks and always has
new drinking game....everyone takes a shot when this guy says "snack". Everyone passes out before the video is over, lol !!
gratefulRed69 lmao too accurate
The Griswold's created the station wagon stigma. Made for a really hilarious movie though.
This is true!
With 6 kids we were looking for an suv big enough for 8 people. Considered pilot but they were so much more expensive or you’d have to get used to find something to compare price wise. Once you get over the stigma of soccer mom van. We’ve had our odyssey for over 3 years now and it is great everyone has room and still room for everyone’s stuff and yes the SNACKS, snack storage galore, now three older kids are driving, so in next few years dad’s gonna get something with more go
This man is the bomb! So much fun to listen to!
Happy New year to Raiti’s family and to all subscribers.
Hope everyone have better year of 2020.
👍odyssey👍
👍💯video💯👍
Yes!! But its no offroader like Forester or Landcruiser etc...very happy with it! Loved your witty presentation !!!
Excellent review.
I love when Joe shouts out twinkies and other foods. I look forward to your reviews. Jesus loves you Joe.
That is so awesome of you to say! Thanks for the support!
Quando vai vir para o Brasil???
Dude I used to have that stigma till I test drove last year at the Atlanta car show lol their legit fun to drive. Like my Buddy was like why you want to test drive it cause why not.
My dream Honda minivan!! Good job Joe.
My dad has an Oddssey and sister has a new Sienna, these cars are so darn practical and drive like a car (lots of power). We cram tons of ppl and stuff in them all the time, they are great for trips but I’m not sure I’d personally own one. If I did I’d definitely have a 2nd car.
Thanks for sharing that great input!
What areas would they have to improve in minivans for you to buy consider buying one as your main vehicle? I'm Genuinely curious.
I absolutely love it. I'd take one exactly like the one your reviewing.
Kelly Austin they are still for sale.. go pick one up today!
I have a 2013 Honda Odyssey and mine has a “fridge” small cooling compartment. I usually put the babies bottle in there with about 4 soda cans. Do the newer ones have that option? If not I’ll stick with my older one
I have 2019 odyessy exl white pearl with mocha leather we love love it
Thanks for sharing the input based off of your experience!
Only if they put back the separate air conditioner for the rear cabin. In this latest Odyssey, Honda opted to cut costs by removing the second air conditioner that had always been there since the Odyssey first came out in 1998.
That engine cover does look exactly like a trash van lid lol
I know right! Thanks Nick for letting me share this one with you!
Do you have any ideas for 3 midrow rear faced car seats and still need to get to third row???
Wow was just looking at them on Monday 2020 Odyssey elite
I read your mind! LOL
Did you had any issue with the steering wheel and alignment? I had bought one and next day I noticed I had to steer the steering wheel to the left in order for the van to go straight. I went back to the dealership and they took care of it but while going home I noticed the problem was still there even when it was fixed. They were super nice and changed the van for me, but that one had the same issue so the dealership contacted their partner dealership and asked them to drive one and it had the same issue as well. I ended up refunding the van.
Ha! you said station wagon, my daughters have no ideas what that is.
I showed them what my mom drove, and my youngest looked at me and said your a Boomer Dad if course you know what a station wagon is...
That is freaking priceless!
I like the Odyssey, lot of folks didn’t like the redesign a few years ago but I like it better. The one problem is price, you can lease a new Pacifica Limited trim van for a steal. The Honda not so much. Last spring Chrysler was leasing a new Pacifica Limited for 250/month for 3 years and you can’t beat the stow away seats, in the Honda you have to physically take out the second row, that’s pretty tough for an older adult like me. Like the room of a minivan, easier to get in and out. A disability issue keeps me from getting in and out of the SUV’s so the Van is my best option.
Thanks for sharing your great thoughts on this one Richard.
Hi Joe. After watching this video about a week ago, I stopped by a Honda dealership to check out the Odyssey. I love them! I currently lease a 2018 f-150. I only have 12 payments left on a 3 year lease. Honda was willing to buy my truck. Well...the dealership and myself were shocked! When they called to get the dealership payoff, Ford credit wouldn't give it to them. They stated their policy has changed and lease buyouts, has to happen at the Ford dealership the vehicle was leased from. Wow....they sure tied that up. Going to be a lot of unhappy customers out there. I don't understand what makes the difference who buys the vehicle!?! So...I guess I will get my Odyssey in 12 months..🤷 lol
If my 12 children are still small and live with me I would buy this mini van like I did before but they’re grown up left me and have their own family 😂
Are the second row and third row seats removable, not retractable?
Would you review the Joey installed in a minivan?
I like the third row seats magic 😃
I totally agree with you!
Awesome I'm buying one today? I had seen this video in the past but never completed it same year same color same interior.
Great video
Thanks Tommy! I really appreciate that!
Also has agm battery. Very difficult to access if you need to jump start vehicle.
Do the middle seats go down like the back? & is this the one that has the powered windows in the middle?
Thanks. We’ve been going back and forth looking at SUVs and minivans. We need extra cargo space so I think it’s going to be a minivan.
Can you remove the second row seats completely out of the van?
You mention all the foods I would keep stocked in that van.
You have good taste!
I can see some Toyota Sienna Mixed up in there, I'm not hating on the Honda though.....but im sticking with my 2017 Sienna XLE which hasn't really changed much i.e. Front Bumper, the Lane change Warning & Stereo System. I don't care too have a SUV Gas Guzzler and over priced because of demand. Great Video Sir
To the door panel😅😅 awesome review joe
Thanks Jose! That really means so much!
Does it have jam protection in the sliding doors? If my kid puts his hand in the door when it’s closing will it open back up or keep closing?
That is a great question. I think it stops.
Since we live in florida, the mpg Never comes to 19mpg in city because of your AC that works like crazy pretty much all the time...
Man he sure does love his snacks
All I need you a loud speaker on the roof and a free candy sign. LOL
LMAO!
How do you put a half box of unopened twinkies?
Give us a look at legroom of the 3rd row when 2nd row seats are up in standard position in coming videos.you only show that when 2nd row seats are down.when they are up,we can't see from front.so show it from your side.
Love the new Honda Odyssey - Snack Wagon Edition Joe. But where's the fridge? I need a fridge WITH an auto ice maker! Yeah, it should also have paper towel holder and a liquid soap dispenser. Hey, I'm nothing if not a guy who thinks of everything. Honda should have consulted with me first. 😉 Save the Wave.👋 Oh yeah, I'll also want a heated cup holder for my cup-o-jo.☕
I think you can get your fridge and a jacuzzi in the back!
But that's where I was going to put my water bed! Man, sometimes I just can't win.🤦♂️ I better just get a Winnebago.🤤
The right signal doesn't turn on the side camera ?
Yes it does!
so thorough. just bought one slightly used. The snacks bit is pretty funny.
How bout a demonstration of how to take out and put back those 2nd row seats.
camping can only be possible in the Chrysler pacifica with the stow and go system.
Need one for my mentoring program events..... I’m in a budget so a used one will do the trick for me😌
Hello
I have a 2011 Honda Odyssey, our 2nd vehicle. Tons more room than my 2018 compact SUV!! Better visibility, huge roomy seats, room for about 9-10 kids & moves 8x4 Sheetrock panels with seats folded & removed. I love the new odyssey, but can’t afford right now @ 45k elite model. I would really like to see you review the Chrysler Pacifica, Kia Sedona & Toyota Sienna- as I will be looking to update my mini-van next year. 😊
Thanks for sharing that great ownership input!
Hi, Can you please let me know when the Honda Odyssey is scheduled for it's next redesign? I have been driving Honda Pilots, but I think my family might be in need of the Odyssey for a few years now. Thanks!
A redesign is probably not for another couple years.
I hear the Odyssey Hybrid is in the works, maybe 2021! And Joe Rules!
We've had our 2020 odyssey for about 6 weeks now. Overall we like it. My disappointments are the back gate doesnt open high enough I'm only 5'9" and hit my head on it when I forget. And the dim lights at night it's like they have a top cutoff line to them.
Thanks for sharing that great input form your ownership!
Robert Musselman Rear liftgate opening height is adjustable, as I recall.
@@gregsolovieff6711 I'll look into that .thanks
Snow mode on a FWD?
No dvd player?
When are you going to review the new Kia Sedona/Carnival?
These are good vans. My parents bought the 03 Odyssey brand new back in the day and just now I am getting rid of it. Here is the thing though: it drove me and my friends around for years, it helped us build the new house with the huge interior room, and it became my first "modern" car after I had to sell my 86' Cadillac Fleetwood (I found out soon after getting my license that it was not the best daily driver). Now I am getting rid of this van finally but that is because I want something sportier for University. My whole freshman year I was commuting in a soccer mom mobile
Thanks for sharing that great input Robert!
Haha not bad we have some friends who ride in a Van and those trips are memorable.
What do you drive now?
@@XxAlex530xX 20' Civic Sport Hatchback. Nice little car
Weren't they having trouble with the transmissions?
We want a minivan so bad! Love the Odyssey! ❤️👍
I drive my Kia Carnival 2019, and I am shocked for its size how much it feels like your driving a small vehicle.
Has honda put back the 2nd ac condensor for the rear? Can u find out?
I will see.
I love my 2020 EXL with GPS &Rear entertainment. My husband does not like the fact that it powers down at stop lights. With economy on it loses some power, sport mode increases power, another thing you forgot to mention is in snow mode you can not set cruise which is a huge safety factor. I zonk the radio button and volume control it looks like it belongs in a 1962 VW bug. Not a $40,000. Vehicle
LOL this dude and his snacks!
Who doesn't like snacks?!?
I love mine that’s for sure!!!
Oh yeah!
Love your vids but this one zonked me out. However the odyssey did cure my insomnia so thanks for that!
I can totally understand where you are coming from.
Raiti's Rides 😂 aside from the aesthetics my body couldn’t handle this car. Too many snack compartments would ruin my diet
How much for this one?
I purchased one and really like it. EX-L model
Thanks Samuel for sharing that great input with your ownership!
If I may ask, how much you paid for out of door price? I am on verge of buying one.
another great review joe, sienna is still the king of mini vans tho all things considered lol
Thanks for sharing that great input!
12:52 " Which Is The Skinniest " 🤣 LOL that's what she said.
You are hilarious!
