FASTEST Liquid Applied Waterproofing Membrane --- Hydro Ban QUICK CURE Water Test in 30 minutes!

  • Hydro Ban Quick Cure allows flood testing of a shower the same day it is applied. In this shower I used a FloFX drain, a mortar bed dry pack pan, Hydro Ban Sheet Membrane and HYDRO BAN QUICK CURE liquid waterproofing membrane. We also used Schluter KERDI-BOARD for the shower walls.
We changed the old school cast iron drain to a FloFX using the adapter included in each box of the FloFx Bonding Flange kit. This allowed us to change out the drain without removing any concrete, install the dry pack, install the sheet membrane, paint the liquid waterproofing and flood test all within 3 hours.
If we had used regular Hydro Ban liquid applied waterproofing membrane or REDGARD, we would have had to wait at least 3 days for the dry pack to cure before putting on the waterproofing!

your right about what we have, i was engaged to a woman from the Philippines. she and her family, lived in a house, with no door, just a sheet over the door, a family of 7. By the way, food for thought for you, her dad does tile work, all kinds, from kitchens, to bathrooms, to exterior, he get 800 pesos a day for a 10 hour day of work, he's in his 50's, by the way that's 17 USd, a day, working 6 days a week, and that's considered a good job there. and the house, with no front door, it not uncommon, for a forest scorpion, or a king cobra, to come running through the house, in the middle of the night, while they all sleep on the concrete floor, in a 2 room house, not much bigger than the bathroom, you were in. i was in the house 10' wide, by about 18' long. so yes, I very much appreciate, what I have even when right now, b/c of health issues i haven't worked in 8 months, and I don't have much and no income. ( i've had 6 heart attacks, 8 stents, I have prostate cancer beginning stages, a torn meniscus, and 3 broken ribs, thanks to PA winters) but enough about me, you don't know poor, until you've seen the rural Philippines, and the ppl are still smiling, and trying to feed you when your there, and they can't afford to feed themselves. Makes you glad you won the life lottery, of being born in the USA. this even irregardless of stupid political nonsense. But great video and message.

Wouldn't it be better to install the walls after the mortar bed? Then even without the bottom corners sealed any water that wicks thru the wall tile grout onto the wall board will drip down onto the top of the base (rather than down the sides of it) and then flow to the drain. Also don't you prefer Laticrete wall board over Kerdi? Thanks for all of your amazing content, even showing your mistakes. Looking forward to building my own curbless shower this year based on your videos and recommendations.

What would you think about waterproofing the corners with just hydroban and laticretes white fabric? Not using the thinset and banding. So say a schluter pan, cement board on the walls, fabric in all the corners and hydroban on the walls and onto the pan enough to seal it all up.

I’m always curious about the chemistry involved in these as well as acrylic based polymers, or any type of mineral or synthetic based liquid product like this. And unfortunately unless there are hazardous substances in it, it’s hard to find the ingredients to better understand how they work, and how they interact with each other. I get that it’s proprietary information, and they have done the research for you, yet it doesn’t quell my curiosity, nor does it help me understand the science behind what I’m actually working with. I think understanding The how and why it works is what helps you produce a better quality product in the end. Yet I think it’s the corporate or capitalist greed that prevents us from having that knowledge, which i again understand, as I’m sure the base ingredients cost nothing on their own, and if we wanted to produce the recipe ourselves they’d be out of business, and they need to charge the exorbitant prices in order to pay for their science, research, testing, marketing, etc etc. so of course all valid, yet I just want to know how it works!!
Also wondering about Portland cement based products, and if you can waterproof with these powder based coatings you mix yourself, if it works for these purposes, for example damtite has a powder waterproofer and it says it is made for wet or dry surfaces…

Isaac, I love you man! You have a gift that im willing to bet your not aware of. In this video your clearly say to me that your willing to look beyond the every day systems that we find ourselves in. Most contractors look at the day and only think about what it is, and what has to get done. But you my man are looking beyond that, and your saying, man there is so much more to all of this. Let me suggest to you, technically speaking much deeper than a suggestion, that you my man have a gift only given from God. When i say God I mean the God of the scriptures, who sent His on Jesus Chist to die on the cross and sacrifice His perfect life to pay for the sin that you and I, Isaac, could not pay for. A God that created the universe and is so good and humble that He came to ther earth, tempted in every way that man is tempted, yet without sin. Im telling all this now Isaac because I believe in you, I believe that God has His hand on you, not just to provide proffesional and superb services, but to speak to a lost and broken world about the Love of God, Jesus Christ, that saved you. I believe He is calling you unto Him, this isnt religion, but its the very reason you were created. I say this because I love you, and I believe the God of the Scriptures, the God of the bible has your number. Dont wait any longer, the true fulfillment that you long for in the depths of your heart when no one is looking is only found in Jesus Christ. Its time now to give your life to Him.
