- It all started when 25-year-old Shraddha Walkar came to Mumbai in 2018 looking for a job. She left behind her family, including her father, mother and brother, in Palghar, Maharashtra. Her father, Vikas Walkar, used to have an electronics service shop. His family comprised Suman, his wife, a 23-year-old son, Shrijay and his daughter Shraddha.
After coming to Mumbai, Shraddha got a job at a call centre of an MNC in Mumbai’s Malad. Aaftab Ameen Poonawala had been working in the same call centre. It is here that they both met.

With all sympathy to the aggrieved father, may we request parents and youngsters to maintain little respect to the institution of marriage, the norm of pre.marirtal celibacy and little conformity to our cultural heritage. When we cross these barriers we invite deep troubles in our lives.
I do respect your viewpoint but violence occurs even after marriage. It is attitude & fear of God that can help people to stay on right path. After all what goes around comes around.
Why her father was not in touch with his daughter. He should have been more closer to his daughter and not make her vulnerable. Aaftab took advantage of this situation.

Had this happened in AP/Telangana - by now Aaftab would have been in hell…. police give instant justice. Very high profile Delhi Bus gang rape case of 2012 (Nirbhaya case) took 8 years to get the punishment. I don’t see …a different time period here. Jail has to spend lot of money in feeding and looking after Aaftab. All this should be deducted from Judges salary.
It is time our Judiciary applies it’s mind, bring reforms in Judicial procedures and do not insist police to produce knife, chaku and so many other proofs. How can you get the knife after 6 months, how can you get a mobile phone after 6 months? Think about it and reform your self, don’t still follow British law….. so many innocent people are languishing in jails due to your inefficiency and inefficient rules. May Shraddha father get justice quickly.
So many families have murdered their daughters and son in laws over caste / gotra. When will these victims get justice?
