Hey dude which 1 of those 3 maestro canbus let you maintain instrument cluster control? I got an aliexpress radio with their own built canbus, everything works including steering wheel music/call buttons except for the instrument center. No more light insicators.
Hey Steve, thanks for the video! Can you still press the green phone button and say 'call home' to make a call? Does it send text messages? Can you connect to apple car play using bluetooth or does it have to be plugged into the usb? I have a 17 Latitude with the small screen and need to upgrade. I wanted the hyper green and there wasn't any within 250 miles with a bigger screen. Easier to replace the head unit than to paint the vehicle! Thanks for the help
More like 1/2 percent but still expensive 28k new. Question why didn't they use the built in xm antenna or was it your reception. I never had an issue with the satellite radio, I just hate the fact the factory screen is smaller than my phone, and you can not mirror to it.
I just installed the exact same setup. I noticed that some functions are missing. All my steering wheel controls work etc but I can't turn off the auto brake when going into park and my horn no longer beeps when engaging the alarm. Do you still have those functions on the dash?
@@nicholasc22 i just installed a Kenwood in my 2015 Jeep Renegade and had the same issue with the auto ebreak in park and it not beeping. After some deep searching I found the fix. Basically you need to go to the AV settings and there should be OEM options in there. That is where the jeep settings are.
@@shadowwolf5790 which kenwood head unit did you use? Thinking about upgrading my 2016 Renegade Limited stereo. I have the uconnect with Nav stereo but I want the Android Auto and it's not compatible on the OEM setup.
I was told that if we have the u connect 3, we cant upgrade to the 7 because the audio controls are in the steeringwheel or in the climate control module, or something. I don't have steering wheel controls that change the volume on my 15' latitude, so I wouldn't be able to
I'm doing the same thing in my 2016 limited, except instead of a Kenwood, I'm going with a Pioneer AVH-W4400NEX. I recommend going on amazon and getting all your parts first. I'll put a list of everything I bought (still shipping) and explain why I got it and why you may or may not want it. 1. SiriusXM SXV300v1 Connect Vehicle Tuner Kit - from what I've read, the antenna for the satellite radio is in the tuner, so when you replace it, you gotta get a new antenna. Apparently this is a pretty significant upgrade in overall quality and performance of the satellite radio. $30 ain't bad. 2. Maestro ADS-MRR Universal Radio Replacement and Steering Wheel Interface - So my steering wheel and dash are compatible with the new setup. $90 kinda stung on this one, but worth it. 3. Maestro HRN-RR-CH3X Plug and Play T-Harness for CH3 Fiat and Jeep Vehicles - The ADS-MRR would be useless without this. Kinda like getting a computer with no operating system or a graphics card with no drivers. Respectable $27, not a rip off since it is a necessity to have both the universal interface and this harness. 4. Metra 95-6532B Double DIN Dash Kit for 2015 and up - Jeep Renegade (Black) - This, and all listed above are all the same as in the video. This is pretty much the only one you're going to find on amazon that isn't complete garbage while being reasonably priced. Make sure it fits your needs, but it should be compatible with most 7 inch units. Compare both unit measurements and be damn sure before you buy. Can't go wrong with this one at only $11.25 5. BATIGE USB 3.0 & HDMI to HDMI + USB3.0 AUX Extension Dash Panel Waterproof Car Flush Mount Cable For Car Boat and Motorcycle - 3ft - If you plan on getting a unit with an HDMI port, you want this, simply put. Replace that garbage OEM cigarette lighter charger next to the USB and AUX ports and pop this puppy in and you're in business for both USB 3.0 and HDMI plugins. $11.90 and it looks factory installed. Can't beat that. 6. Tresalto Auto Trim Removal Tool Kit, Set - I'm a DIY type of guy, so I'm planning on doing this installation myself since everything seems to be plug and play and I'm not doing any cutting, splicing, or drilling. $10 to possibly save money and make this a professional looking job done from home and get the satisfaction of doing it with my own hands is priceless. At the end of the day, I will take it to a professional if I have any issues or misgivings about doing it myself. 7. Pioneer AVH-W4400NEX in Dash Multimedia Receiver with 7" WVGA Clear Resistive Touchscreen Display - Yes, I made you wait til the bottom of the list to get to the most important aspect of the whole new head unit. From everything I've read, people say "get Kenwood for Apple Carplay, get Pioneer for Android Auto." So with that bit of anecdotal knowledge, I went ahead and chose this Pioneer. I wasn't looking to drop anymore than $600, but I wanted the most bang for my buck while still having Miracast or really any phone mirroring tech built in. You can find better units for better prices if you do not need this, but this is perfect for my needs and worth the extra $$ (mirroring is discontinued with pretty much all the higher end companies). Other than that, I really wanted an HDMI plug and a removable front screen to reduce possibility of theft. Keeping my fingers crossed this bad boy fits the new mount. I triple checked the dimensions, but I'll be paranoid about it until I'm actually done installing it. $550 new on amazon prime, found a certified dealer on amazon selling for $500. If I did all my homework correctly, this should be everything you need for this particular kind of setup should work 100% with a 2016 Jeep Renegade. Hope this is helpful to you or anyone else that found themselves here looking to do something similar.
@@Bodmw01 You absolutely rock for putting this list together. Been researching for days trying to figure out what I need. This is super helpful information. I would really like to hear a follow-up though. Did everything work out in the end? Are you happy with the way it turned out? Did you get it all done by yourself with the parts listed? Thanks for any reply :)
Thanks for the tip about the USB. Ill get one before I tear my dash apart!
You listen to Lithium and drive a Renegade, You rock dude!
Great review. Thanks for all the detail.
Thank you for sharing this, will look into this for my own. Appreciate it greatly!!
I like that Head unit, I have to get it. Car Toys did my full installation and made that usb port functional. You can find the mini usb on ebay.
Steve what connector to retain USB do you need female mini to USB or male mini

All that money and they made it plug into the front as apposed to wiring it internally. I would have been pissed!
yups, true..
How does the backup camera work? Where can I buy?

1/2 percent? That only comes out to $140 if the price is 28k. I think it's more like 3.5 percent of the cost of the vehicle.
Did you install yourself?
Was your backup camera affected?
I just installed the exact same setup. I noticed that some functions are missing. All my steering wheel controls work etc but I can't turn off the auto brake when going into park and my horn no longer beeps when engaging the alarm. Do you still have those functions on the dash?
my horn beeps when locking the car so i know it is ion there somewhere
Did you ever figure it out? I installed the same thing and have the same problems

What Renegade model is this

Dammit I need a real job to spiffify my Jeep

Were you able to retain your remote start function?
Yup, not effected at all
Steve Dubish Awesome! I’m planning to get a similar set up in the coming months.
You’ll think this setup work for 2016 model

Snow it will get knocked off
I'd rather pay extra for the factory 7 " screen it's faster and better IMO
none of the factory units are better then any aftermarket Kenwood..far from it.
