  • The embattled former Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello, has denied the payment of his children school fees with monies from the coffers of the State government.
According to the press release signed by his Media Officer, Michael Ohiare, the former governor accused the Chairman of the Economic Crime and Financial Commission (EFFC), Olanipekun Olukoyede of trying to convict him by all means in the court of public opinion rather than in the law court

It is hard fighting corruption in Nigeria because the system is fantastically corrupt.

Why is Yahaya Bello running away from EFCC's invitation?
Why the Court restraining order against arrest?
Very painful that some quarters come on air to protest when someone had plunged their lives into catastrophic future.

All the suspected armed robbers in the country should go to court and obtain a restraining order to prevent the law enforcement from arresting them. Remember everyone is innocent until proven guilty, but a suspect first will be charged to court before their innocence or guilt will be proven.

Nigerians can't but amuse me. People that don't know what they want will definitely be taken for granted by politicians. We were complaining about corruption, embezzlement of public funds by people we stay in the sun to elect into public offices. Yet we complain on why and how some should be held accountable or prosecuted. Some learned once are even protesting. Haba ! Why are we like this? On issues that are disheartening like this? No no, we need to know better

My dear brother. Amuse us the most. Any country when fighting corruption is being selective you will be seeing all these back and forth issues. The current EFCC chairman claimed he met the case file on ground but the same case file of Fmr Gov Matewalle is also in that efcc office, the fmr EFCC chairman was the one who initiated this case per say. Also he started that of Matewalle but Matewalle case cost him his job and accused fmr gov Matewalle is now a minister. And you are talking about corruption fighting. Let's leave emotions aside. Magu, Bawa did more than this.

The Nigerian government should take steps to revoke the immunity of sitting governors, which is often exploited for embezzlement. One effective measure would be to directly send local government grants to their accounts, deterring corruption linked to state leaders and ensuring that villagers receive federal support. Additionally, implementing contested local elections would empower villagers to hold their leaders accountable, fostering unity and significantly reducing corruption across Nigeria. Therefore, it's imperative for the law to hold anyone accountable for their actions, instilling fear in those with intentions of stealing. May Nigeria progress with integrity, peace and prosperity.

I personally think the DSS should back up the EFCC to arrest stubborn citizens like Yahaya Bello refusing investigation. It's a challenge on the State not EFCC as an agency.

You can't use illegality to correct illegality.
Efcc should do the needful to vacate the kogi court judgement.
It's also very bad to use your phone to call an alleged suspect and you have the mind to come to the public on that.
    The M I 6 AND F B I will never do that.
The metropolitan police will follow for years and by the time they invites you or arrest you, you will have no choice than to raise your hands and plead guilty.
So let's do it right to get it right
