I hope this helps somebody. I replaced the key fob battery but remote start would not work. YOU MUST TAKE THE KEY FOB TO YOUR CAR and use it there a couple times. That will reprogram it. I noticed there were no more “low battery” warnings. When I got home from my errand, remote start was working again. Praise GOD because it’s cold out now.

Some of those batteries have sour protective coating to prevent kids from swallowing. Applying some water will clear off that coating and the battery should work fine

I have a 2020 Honda CR-V. Although I had changed the battery 3 times, it still kept showing "low battery". I was about to take it to the dealer because I thought there must be something wrong with the key fob. After watching your video, I tried it with the Amazon Basics battery, problem SOLVED! Thank you so much for doing this video and for saving me a lot of money!!

  • @georgeb9886

You are a lifesaver man! Turns out the two plastic nubs holding the battery down on mine were already bent and preventing the battery from making contact with the terminals. Tsk tsk, bad design Honda 😡

  • @homersaypian3798

I seem to get a warning at 2.8v. Also, after dropping the remote I’ve gotten a low battery warning. This has happened twice.

Thank You! I was thinking the batteries were bad, but then you showed me that the connectors weren't connecting. Thank you sir, you are a scholar and a gentleman!

Thanks for this video- my issue was the two plastic tabs you mentioned that got folded down. You have saved me much time and probably money.

  • @HansLifee

Mine works but no red light every time I press button. It’s so weird.

  • @tarawoods1893

Thank you for your video! It is the only one that helped me. I had been replacing batteries for over an hour and nothing worked. Then I watched your video and realized my prongs were down and the battery wasn’t making a connection! Now it works perfectly! 😊

This TRANSFORMED my Honda key-fob! - thank you so much - who knew that not all cells are equal?!

  • @deadweathergrl

THANK YOU SO MUCH! I have spent a solid 2-3 hours, countless videos, websites and a world of frustration and defeat over this issue. You have given me peace! ❤️🥳

  • @mutueye808

Finally someone who got to root cause of the problem! I had gone through so many videos and articles! Almost went to the dealer. Thank you!

  • @samuelg225

You saved the day for posting this video and kept $200 in my pocket! Can’t thank you enough. The dealer couldn’t even figure out that it was the battery connection (yet maybe they could, they just thought that I would order a whole new key fob).

OMG You’re the BEST. My son’s wife accidentally soaked my son’s Honda HRV fob in the ocean. He brought it to me because it wasn’t working (lock/unlock/trunk open/close buttons not working. I replaced the 2032 battery (Panasonic brand)but still no go. Then I noticed the red led light wouldn’t even blink. You pointed out the possible poor contact along the sides of the battery. I slightly bent those contacts towards the edge of the battery and that solved the problem. The water exposure issue was very brief and there was little if any water in the fob. I think that water issue diverted our attention away from the primary problem. Many thanks for posting your video.

  • @EmirRadoncic-sh4eg

You saved the day! The positive contacts were flat and not making contact with the battery. A little wiggle and it works as new. Thanks, dude!

  • @andrewlong2523

Turns out the issue I was having was that the little plastic tabs holding the connection plate for the positive were bent down preventing the battery from touching that plate! Thank you for the info. You saved me a couple hundred bucks!

  • @CS-bh4ur

I thought that this video was so stupid but then I took a second to think because I know I put a new good battery in my key fob. Maybe my buttons were misaligned and that’s exactly what happened when I changed my battery my buttons became slightly misaligned, and they stopped working for that reason because they weren’t fully depressing the button, thank you for this video. It helped and save me a ton of money. Thank you so much five stars two thumbs up and a happy viewer 😁👍👍

I changed a couple of Honda Fit key fob. One of them won't light up after installation of battery. I though I damaged the key fob during replacement and almost decide to buy a replacement key fob. After watching, I realized the common issue of the positive mental flaps were bent, using a tweezer to open the metal flap allowed my battery positive side to have contact, and the light is now lit and my key fob works like a charm. Thanks for saving me a few hundred dollars in dealership. Nowadays everything cost arms and legs, LOL!
