I'm a visual learner and your video made it so easy. I left the fob I use all the time at home to run and get a new battery and took the spare fob which I rarely use. That one also said the battery was low. I thought it was rather strange that they both would be low at the same time but I changed them both just to be safe. I've had my Passport for 2.5 years and this is first time I needed to do this. Thanks for the video.
Yes Dear me too. Took time to remove the battery. I was afraid 😂.what I have done, but I did it finally. Really this video was very informative. Thumbs up 👍
Thanks for the info. That happened to me yesterday in my Honda passport. Couldn’t find a thing in the owners manual about it. Thanks again for the video
Some other videos are completely wrong, but this video was very informative so thank you! If you also have a Hybrid Honda CR-V like me, this is the best video out there!
Thank you and thank you for taking the time to create the video. My car indicated a low battery, but missing was how to change the battery. I had a bit of a hard time removing the old battery, but a small flathead screw driver did the trick. Putting in a new battery was easy. The two halves went together easily as well.
@@fixandplay826 Just a quick comment to others. The only annoyance is that Amazon only sold the battery in a 10-pack. Yes, it is great, assuming the 9 additional batteries have a long shelf-life, then I will not need new batteries for 36-years to 40-years. My car is 4-years old and I am just changing the battery now.
A big thanks to you! After trying to replace the battery myself everything falls apart take it to Honda the salesman could not figure how to put it back together, he told me to come back when the parts department is open. Watching your video I did it 😊 Thanks again ❤
First time we changed a battery without looking at your video. Parts all over the place. Months later, when second fob needed a new battery, I watch this vid first. Battery change went flawlessly! Very clear commentary & images. Well done sir!
Need to be careful how you hold the fob when you open it. If you are holding it with your fingers on the fob keys, when you open it the plastic buttons will fall out and you'll have to piece them all back together (if you can find them all.)
Yes, you are correct. It’s best to open it slowly and with the buttons facing down so they stay in their slots. Being aggressive when opening the fob could make them fly everywhere!! 😂
This happened to me. The battery was in tight and when I finally pried it out, all the buttons fell out. It took a long time to reassemble the key fob with all the buttons securely repositioned.
Hello! Your video was super helpful. After I went through all the steps and started the car I then turned it off but the fob wouldn’t lock the car. Any thoughts?
Here is some extra fun you can also do with your F.O.B.. I've always liked to have an extra key hidden on the outside of my car and with the advent of key F.O.B.'s you would think this would not be possible due to it's proximity to your car.... but wait..... there's more...... it is possible! There are two ways to do this: 1. Wrap it in aluminum foil, hide it, and it will not be able to send out a signal to your car to unlock the door or to start it. It's also a good idea to do this when you park your car at home for the evening, especially if you keep your keys near your entry door or any window. Thieves will use that weak signal coming from your F.O.B. inside your house, amplify it, really it to your car, and then use the signal to trick your car into thinking it is you and it will unlock and start. 2. Or you can do what I do. I take the battery out of the one I am going to hide on the outside of the car! Sound strange? Well believe it or not, it will still start your car with a "dead" battery or with no battery in it at all! How you might ask? Simple. Take the F.O.B., hold it in your hand, and use IT to press the start button and it will start your car with no battery in it! Pretty cool.... huh?
As usual in directions, things have been skipped even though this is a simple procedure. Be sure not to pry open the part with the buttons. I did this accidentally and it was horrible getting them back into place. Manage it, but what a chore. Also not mentioned is the polarity (make sure the battery is inserted correctly with the minus/plus in the right position. Also, kind of stupid but I didn't spot it right away, there is a sticker on the back of the battery that needs to be pulled off.
@@fixandplay826 it’s possible I had a lemon one. From my perspective, if I don’t use my remote, even if my remote is not far from my CRV it shouldn’t affect my remote battery ! Could my car use the remote battery even if I don’t press any button ?
Another genius that doesn't tell you why he's holding down the interior plate with two fingers when he picks out the battery. IT'S BECAUSE PIECES FLY OUT OF YOU DON'T!
Literally, it was easier to open the key fob than it was to open the package the battery came in. Thanks.
Those battery packages can be pesky!! 😂
Best comment. totally agree

Thanks for your message! I’m so happy it helped you
Had a bit of trouble getting the battery removed, but everything was clear and concise. Thank you so much!
I had a little trouble too. It’s spring loaded so you need to push it to the side. Persistence will get it out 😂

You would think that the manual tells you how and what battery. I could not find anything there so I am grateful you put this video out!
Yes, I absolutely agree with you. I’m glad the video was helpful

Yeah, not too tough. You got it!
My husband usually does all this type of stuff for me….but with your video I walked right through it myself! Thank you for posting this. 😊

I did same thing, all plastic buttons came out. With my clumsy fingers, took me and hour to put it back together.

It’s possible that you may not have put the fob back together correctly. Take it apart and put it together again and try locking the car

Easier said then done. I can’t get the battery out. It has little tabs on top of it.
It’s spring loaded…you must push it in the direction of the spring load and then po it out
the tabs are in all four "corners" of the battery case. which direction should it be pushed?@@fixandplay826
What’s the normal longevity of a CRV remote battery ? I’m wondering why after two weeks my battery had to be changed ?
That doesn’t seem normal at all. Usually the battery lasts about 3 years give or take. Maybe you had a bettery “lemon”
