I can't adequately express how grateful I am to you for posting this video! I replaced the battery in my 17 CRV key fob and then it was dead. Nothing. I then installed a different new battery, and zilch, still dead. Indeed, the plastic clips had become bent down preventing contact. I clipped them off and then it worked!! I wouldn't have thought to look there on the side because I thought the contacts on the bottom were the only ones. Thanks again!

Tabs were the problem with my FOB, I wasn’t aware this could happen. Almost bought a new FOB, thanks for the advice

This helped a lot but quick question is there a solution if the plastic tab on top of the battery broke?
The small black piece? As long as the battery makes contact and you get the light place the other half of the remote on and it should be fine
Lmao this stupid little design flaw cost me a bunch of money when I had to get a tow company to get me in my car cause my keys were locked in. Thank you!

Would this cause the immobilizer to to flash. My car car starts just fine with key by fob isn’t detected and won’t lock and unlock doors. :(

Hmm no plastic pieces impeding the contact plates? Should blink when battery is replaced
My alternator died while driving home, next day the key doesnt work, just wasted 7 euros buying batteries and the remote still doesnt work. Going to try this.

@@BStride sadly it didnt work, but it was worth a try. My friend told me that he had a similar issue with a vw sharan when he had electrical issues, the car forgot the key and he had to reprogram it, so he thinks I might have a similar issue. Thanks anyways.

DO NOT USE METAL SCREWDRIVER TO REMOVE BATTERY!!! EASY TO SHORT CIRCUIT AND KILL THE BATTERY

Clean the board of it still doesn’t work with 99% alcohol
No plastic between battery and metal contact that’s what it was for me
