Would changing the pressure regulating valve be the place to start?

      Sounds like a problem in the A clutch, First place to start is making sure fluid level is full. If thats good, drop out the valvebody to see if the upper rear section of the valvebody is cracked, if thats ok, either A drum is cracked or the skinny o-ring is torn.

    Hi Gary,
    I’m wondering, why do they use the scarf cut o-rings on the regulator valve? When I bought the kit, I thought they sent me two defective o-rings but it turns out that’s how they come. I’ve yet to install the new part but it seems to me the scarf o-rings won’t provide a perfect seal.
    Also, what do the sizing o-rings do exactly?
    I’ve not done anything past a filter and fluid change so all this is new to me. Thanks for the video and your time.

      If your talking the Transgo kit, yes the scarf cut o-ring makes for easy install. Put some transgel or grease on the scar cut ring, put the o-ring on or resizer than put it in the freezer for a couple of hours and the valve should drop right in, there is no chafer so thats why it scarf cut, easy install

    I just installed this valve in my 02 Audi A8 as preventative maintenance with a filter/fluid service. I also only pulled the lower valve body. The car is new to us and didn’t seem to have issues prior. 75k miles. Some sludge on magnets but not too bad. The Tranny took 8.5qts to fill while running and pumping fluid in. I am now getting codes :
    P2725 pressure solenoid 5 malfunction.
    P0798 Pressure solenoid 3 malfunction.

      @GaryFerraro  Před 2 lety

      @corbettgeldart3207 Před 2 lety

      Hi Gary, Thanks for the reply! I installed the transgo valve.
      I don’t believe 8.5qts came out. The pan had been leaking quite bad when I started working on it so it’s hard to say for sure. I was doing engine work also and ran the car for a bit after the initial fill of 4.5 qts, before removing the plug and filling more, no more than 15 min. When I went to fill again it took two more qts before starting the car again. Also, there was a bit of wheel spin while filling due to the tires being off when I went to fill. Could these two things be of detriment?
      Final observation, the car will not go in to manual shift mode, it is in limp mode now. It will not let me shift through the gears.
      I thought I was meticulous and followed the instructions to a tee, there were no ham hands.
      Did I over fill? Or damage the transmission pump? Or possibly disturb wires on the valve body with my fill tube?
      Distraught…

    Sir: You seem to be the internet guru of ZF5HP24s....question: I have this transmission in my 2003 Jaguar XJ8 Vanden Plas with just under 31,000 miles. It seems to shift fine in all gears without jerking or slipping. But at 50 and above, under light acceleration, I get a low frequency hum that disappears either with downshifting to 4th or backing off the throttle. It seems to retreat to the background or disappear entirely under steady-state throttle at speed. I have been advised by a Jag Tech to just get a reputable transmission shop to replace the primary pressure regulator valve with an updated one, like the Transgo valve, and exchange the fluid with new, and that should take care of everything. Do you concur?

      @@GaryFerraro Yes. As a precaution, after buying the car at 30k miles, I had the filter changed and the pressure regulator valve replaced with what was described by a shop that does nothing but transmissions as an upgraded valve. I do know it was not a Transgo valve as I asked for that and the owner said he used a different brand. I did not insist as this is what they do for a living.
      Anyway, the humming noise remains, and the transmission continues to operate normally as best I can figure. No jerking in shifts, TC seems to do what it is supposed to, i.e. lock up and drop RPM a bit.

    Hey Gary. Great video as usual! You gave me the confidence to rebuild the 5hp24 in my 2002 x5 4.6! Just had a question regarding issues post rebuild. I replaced all seals and clutches, and upgraded to the transgo pr valve. Now the vehicle has no forward gears, and reverse will only kick in above a certain rpm. Is there something obvious I might have missed? After a little while the trans will go into failsafe. Your help would be very much appreciated!

      How did the pressure regulator valve go in? What was original problem?

    • @jazzybraids
      @jazzybraids Před 5 lety

      The valve went in without any issue, followed the directions to a t. The original problem was slipping between the 1-2 shift.

      @@jazzybraids Did you change the F clutch piston?

      Yes, I changed it with an OEM unit, and made sure to check for proper movement when sliding it in. It seemed to go in just like you mentioned it should in your other videos.

      @@jazzybraids well, you may have torn the skinny o-ring on the A drum, as far as reverse the F clutch and The C clutch are on in reverse, you have the seals on the hollow shaft? 2 o-rings and 2 teflon sealing rings?

  • @Silbereiche1
    @Silbereiche1 Před 5 lety

    Why do i have to put the o-rings on the valve before the freezer, and than remove them bevor the intake? I need to do this the next days.
