Diana Dors was just wonderful, I love how she held her own with all those men, so witty and lovable! I wish there were more women like her around today - she was an incredible one-off of course - but I mean strong older women who were not afraid to speak their mind with wit, wisdom and warmth. She was a great role model for women.
+glamdolly20 Loved it when Parky asked Desmond Wilcox: "Did you go into Di's area..." and quick as a flash an outraged Diana says: "I beg your pardon?!!" Oh she was such fun!
Agree totally. In addition to her looks, Diana Dors was a smart, quick witted and ballsy woman with a commanding presence. A real one-off who sadly died too early.
@@markrowley1223 100% Diana Dors' death at just 52 was a huge loss to this country and the entertainment world. No one could take her place. Incidentally, I was surprised to learn at time of writing - June 2023, Desmond Morris is still with us aged 95, as of course is Michael Parkinson, now 88.
Brilliant. This guy gets it. Nicely explained Desmond Morris. Diana Dors came to my town in Scotland when i was a kid and ive never seen so many people. Back in 1970.
I've only recently been learning about Diana Dors. She was an excellent actress AND singer. I look forward to learning more about her and hearing her in conversation in interviews. In the 1957 interview she did with Mike Wallace I was vey impressed with her intelligent and articulate comments.
You should all have a good look at Diana turning up at film premieres in the 1950s, she just sizzles with beauty and glamour. Darnell of London used to make her famous gowns.
She was really a STAR. A pity there are none like her now, what a shower modern people are. What is it they are called, celebrities? They certainly could not be called "personalities" now.
Very true! Diana Dors had more personality in her little finger than a million of today's reality 'stars', who of course are nothing of the kind! They don't make stars like Diana anymore, she was just wonderful, witty, warm, charismatic and utterly compelling. She couldn't help but upstage the other chat show guests - no wonder egotistical Kenneth Williams looks so annoyed!

Diana Dors is by no doubt the best of British. She was what would now call a true earthbound star. The true talented and glamorous celebrities are all now long gone and these days all we have left is trashy, attention seeking five minute wonders.
+william harper Oh you're so right, wasn't Diana Dors wonderful? More charisma in her little finger than any number of reality TV nonentities who call themselves stars today! Tragic she died at just 52 years of age, she had so much more to give the world. A wonderful actress with old-fashioned glamour, warmth and heart and as you rightly say, a true star. She is much missed.
It is funny how Desmond Morris says "during sexual arousal..." Diana Dors sees the funny side and plays Desmond entertainingly. These days, a woman on the panel hearing this would be stony faced and say nothing and probably there would be a complaint of sexism.
Nonsense, Diana only improved with age. It's a tragedy she was not given enough time on this Earth to mature and become the wonderful older woman she was destined to - she died of cancer in 1984 aged just 52.

That's a very attractive comb-over Desmond has there.
Not Desmond Wilcox but Desmond Morris, author of Manwatching, a book which Dors references early on in the interview.
Thanks for the clip. I believe this is 08/10/1977, not 1971
watch this and read what kenny says abut this in his diaries!
Funny how Graham Norton keeps a large amount of people on his couch - but Parky did it years before hand..
Petula Clark in the dance number and this is not 1971.....it's the late 70's

Desmond Morris, not Wilcox
