- At last, after a 27 year search, I finally found the Diana Dors' Delahaye.
Well here is your chance to see and hear the Delahaye in all its splendour, filmed in Chicago, August 2008. This was truly my golden ticket moment.
The car has recently sold for $3 million.
Enjoy
Sincerely yours Al Clinton
This is not a car. This is a piece of art.
yes you are right it is art but I think it is hideous and ridiculous.
@Michelle lee yes it does look like its out of a fable and it's still a ridiculous bloated monster
All of the modern cars look hideous compared to this beauty! I wish all cars were made with this unique character today.
That is true.
The most beautiful car in the world❤️❤️❤️
Beside the Auburn boat tail .
Not only was Diana Dors a beautiful woman, but she owned one of the most beautiful automobiles ever made. God almighty, that is a stunning ride...and that's what her husband said!
I see what you did there. 🤪
LOVE Diana, her Car AND the Music!💕
Art Deco and vintage sci-fi on wheels. Fantasic automotive sculpture.
Art Deco is 20s-30s..this modernist-futurist.
That’s not just a car, it’s a massive statement! Absolutely superb..
One of the most beautiful cars ever .
Absolutely stunning. Rolling artwork. To bad those film clips were in B&W, the color doubles how amazing this car looks. Wow.
Made in France.
Driven in United Kingdom.
This car was able to run until 180 km/h !! Wow !! amazing for the era !
That's 111.6 mph. Pretty fair for any era! Gorgeous car for a gorgeous girl. =)
Oké it's made in France I did not know for sure 🙂👍🙋♂️.
I saw this car at the Amelia Island Concours and thought I was having an LSD flashback. Fantastic!!
What a work of art. Hopefully it gets driven once in a while. I would like to see the engine on this one.
And all this was hand-made in France in the 40's. Delahaye provided the chassis and motor and it was coachbuilded by Jacques Saoutchik in Paris with a unique custom design (nautic and Art Deco inspiration).
The most famous coachbulders of the time were: Jacques Saoutchik, Figoni & Falaschi, Gangloff, Henri Chapron ....
Delahaye was a true work of art, just gorgeous, no other like them. Wow.
Yes there was...Talbot Lago and Delage......to name a few.......you need to get out more.
I love the fire extinguisher on the front seat - Oozes confidence that it won't burst into flames at any minute! :-)
swingmanic she smoked and was always getting her dress on fire
i keep it on the floor in the back seat better safe than sorry. mine is a CO2 so no dust.
mar c n
swingmanic ...almost all concours require a fire extinguisher to be in a car being shown and it was probably put out of view upon arrival. Fabulous piece of automotive art but this video and the early locations shown sucked! This car deserves BETTER!!!
It's not a bad idea to have a fire extinguisher on your car whether it's a worn out rust bucket or fresh off the show room floor.
Because IC or electric you're driving something that runs on highly flammable substances.
As it exits the garage and the sun hits that chrome, just WOW!
WOW'' WHAT A BEAUTIFUL CAR ! NEVER SEEN ANYTHING SO NICE !
Simply fantastic. Good grief, what an incredibly wonderful/beautiful designed car.
Thank you so much for taping editing uploading and sharing.
Best regards.
Absolutely fabulous. Such an elegant work of art. A supertanker for the pavement.
one of the most beautiful cars ive ever seen
I just looked-up Diana Dors. She had quite an amazing life. Surreal, actually, like that car...
Bunny Biedenharn She really was something else. There’s a bio pic of her that you might enjoy. She was quite talented. Her version of Come By Sunday puts all others to shame.
Britain's answer to Monroe. Born Diana Fluck- on the idea of seeing her name in lights. she said 'if that 'L' doesn't light up I'm in trouble'
@@billcobbett9259 I read a story that she returned to her hometown once for a celebration honoring her. The local pastor was supposed to introduce her, and he was very nervous about leaving the "L" out when he said her name. He rehearsed his speech over and over. When the time came, he stepped up to the microphone and said, "Here she is, ladies and gentlemen, Swindon's favorite daughter -- our own Diana Mary Clunt!" (Actually, I think that Diana Dors liked to tell that one, too.)
Wow - That is obviously an Earth Shaking Automobile ! The cameraman is shaking so violently from the tectonic roar of the engine, I am astonished he was able to remain on his feet to get what little live footage there was. Amazing !
That must be the coolest car in the world! Beautiful and ridiculous at the same time, a real star's car. It looks totally impractical - it's massive, yet it only has two seats and a hopeless
boot.
Wow! A work of art. Sounds splendid also. :)
Amazing car - wow, can´t stop watching this vid. Words can´t describe the matchless beauty of this icon.
une pure beauté, une ligne à couper le souffle! Magnifique, gardez-nous ce précieux bijou!
I believe it's a 1949 Delahaye Type 175 Saoutchik Roadster. Jacques Saoutchik was the carriage maker for some of the most beautiful cars ever built, working for Delahaye, Delage, Bugatti, Talbot-Lago and even Cadillac.
ricardo ricky Thanks for that info. You have my respect & appreciation for doing the homework for us all.
Delahaye
Edward Carney Saoutchik
En I think made in France?
koen huyvaert IDK, but Saoutchik was French.
She was perfect for that car
Pure Art!
OMG...it's stunning! Thanks for this vid.
Enjoyed that 😎
Many thanks for sharing
🙂🍻👍
Diana Dors' Delahaye! They don't make alliterations like that any more!
They also don't make Wonderful Wicked Women like that any more...*sigh*
LMAO!
@@kimvibk9242 I guess if you want to deny that the torch was passed to the present day version of the glamorous starlet with the coming out years ago of debutante and socialite Paris Hilton.
Incredible ! Thanx for posting
WOW! Somewhat as 7 meters of car with 2 seats and pratically no luggage stove! Great days!
Noone but DORS could ride in this car and look perfectly at home
Six-cylinder 4.5-litre engine triple-carbureted 175S capable of about 160 km/h (99 mph), these figures were subject to variation depending on which sort of body was fitted, and which coachbuilder made it. Coachbuilder Jacques Saoutchik seemed oblivious of weight, and applied flamboyant heavily chromed brass embellishments on his extended enclosed fendered bodies.
Stunning! So beautiful.
Amazing times,a beautiful automobile for a beautiful lady, rip diana.
I’ll pay up to the owner and make my own travel arrangements & accommodations just for a simple passenger’s spin in this hot ticket! Drop-dead gorgeous! Die-hard Diana fan here - the gal had impeccable taste! 💙
When there we're 'stars' not just mere 'celebs', who has real class and style. Sadly a bygone era.
Why is it so impossible for some people to say something nice about one era without dumping all over another? I like a lot of music and pop culture from times long ago but even back then the same sort of people who trash modern culture now trashed their culture then. Do we just need to hate everything new after we reach a certain age? "Darn these flappers with their loud jazz! Darn these vapid Hollywood types with their gaudy jewlery! Darn these young people who are different from formerly young people!" Sadly, a timeless mindset.
Nice car by the way. Lovely bodywork.
@Just Mingled Thank you for the kind words. I'm 31.
I remember people utterly trashing boy bands in the 90s as the death of "real music" and being made fun of for liking a few songs by a few of these groups. Years later I was stunned to hear people lovingly gushing about the Backstreet Boys reunion tour and how much better music was "back in the 90s".
Coachbuilding at its finest. Bravo Saoutchik!!
Loving that glass steering wheel.
What can you say, its an incredible work of art!
WOW,!!!! What a beautiful car!!!! Nothing but class and style!!!!!! Driving that would definitely make a statement!!!!!!
What a beauty! Real car art!
Wow... Stunning! Immaculate! Outrageous! I'd heard of the Delahaye back in the 60s but never saw one. That is the car for Diana Dors alright. Perfect example of pure kitsch in the most beautiful sky blue colour and immaculate chrome, big sweeping and iconic. A real head turner as Diana was in her day!
Incredible lines and style.
NICE
simply BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!
BEAUTIFUL!!
WOW! I bet you saw THAT coming at you. What a beauty. A real piece of art. 😘
The cars nice too.
Beautiful! Crazy! Just crazy!
It's absolutely bonkers... I love it!!!!
Oh, the blue!! You could not tell fromm the black and white! Such a spectacular machine!
I have never seen, heard or even imagined a creation as this!😱...Thats a masterpiece of craftsmanship.....Wow😮!!!!!
So Art Deco it hurts. I love it.
What a beautiful, beautiful, beast of a car!
Final thought? What a gorgeously aerodynamic automobile!
inkblot131 Probably has the aerodynamics of a brick....but I take your point
What an automotive statement. I grew up reading about hot rods in the southern california 60's car culture, so the first time I became aware of the Delahey brand was by seeing a group at a car museum, and it was an astounding moment . They are cars like no other, real Paris playboy stuff. This one is quite an example, although I have never seen a bad one. By the way, the "suicide" doors were used so women with big fluffy skirts could enter and be seated in the car more gracefully.
Perhaps someday I will hear an interview with the owner of the car tell about the journey to get, or keep, the car in show condition, and the characteristics of the car in operation.
In Diana's case, the suicide doors allowed a woman with big fluffy bosoms to enter and be seated in the car more gracefully.
What a FANTASTIC CAR I loved Diana but never heard of a Delahaye wonderful suited Diana to a fault thanks for sharing.
I am impressed. Love it
What a beauty !!!!!!!!
Stunning example of the designers and builders skills

Love the old touring cars.
That car is stunning just like Diana Dorrs.
This amazing and I guess unique car deserves a super cameraman to shoot a perfect smooth HD quality document of it!
This car screams Hollywood.
rabit818 RANK Film Studios more like!
Diana Dors might have British, but her spiritual home is MGM in sunny wide open California.

Rare very rare,,we mostlikely see more of such cars in cartoons than in real life
+GoliathAngelus
Indeed sir ! I believed so as well ! You see this car in Tex Avery's cartoons with the big wolf crying and shouting like crazy when he sees a sexy girl like hell, the sole car as sexy as the girl in the cartoon is that one !
Just thinking the same !!
Very nice!
Speechless---WOW👍🏻✌🏼
