yep, shes wonderful. one key thing about those classic english comedies in the 70s- they got the casting perfect in those shows. margo was not a bitch at all, she was delightful and lovely just like penelope herself, she was an overt snob of course, but that was part of her charm.
I was reminded of an episode when Richard decides to take up skiing. Audrey tells him of an Austrian ski instructor whose only English was , "Bend zee kneeeeeez, bend zee kneeeez. Apparently, she was asked to do that quite often for the convenience of the directors she was working with.
@@Grania52 The image of Richard tied to the back of the tractor in his white ski suit to practice going down slopes has come into head from that episode☺️
Parkie was always shit at interviewing women. He's barely a step away from Mr. Cholmley Warner. She shows extraordinary patience with his patronising, repetitive and unilluminating "you're big for a girl" questions.
yeah, i mean it was many years ago when things were very different but still its not cool. i assume youve seen the one where he just goes on and on about helen mirrens 'figure' meaning of course her bo obs, its so cringe. btw- do you think we should return to the gold standard? ...or perhaps we should just wait another 40-45yrs?
Far too many questions about her appearance and height, dealt very graciously by her. Gosh how many times can you mention someone's height before it gets awkward?
When Penelope mentioned something called "rates" when she talked about a scene from The Good Life, I assume "rates" are something British households have to pay for local services is this correct? It must be like our State Taxes in the US?
@@PDC-yb9qs no. State taxes are something completely different. In the USA it's property taxes. In Britain, Australia or NZ it was council rates (think it's changed in Britain - the name I mean).
Parkinson was awful interviewing young attractive women in this period (his interview with Helen Mirren around the same time is famously toe curling). He did get a lot better as he aged and his later interviews were in a different league (though he had a wobble with Meg Ryan).
She speaks so beautifully.I can listen to her for hours.
Lovely lady. I miss those days.
Adorable lady
Penelope is a great actress
Penelope is graceful,gorgeous and amazing.Love her😘
Gorgeous Penelope Keith a real English rose and a marvellous actor. 🌹

Absolutely delightful. I always though Penelope was so striking and had such presence. She is a delight. Thank you for sharing.
She is an absolute star! So wonderful, funny and talented. NOT plain in any way at all - rather a very exquisite beauty.
a cultured lady, a super actress, a warm personality, and a totally hot dish! That Penelope Keith.
Regal
Amusing as the very next year she did marry. And is still married.
How disappointing it must have been for Penelope to be asked mostly about her height. Classy lady to deal with such patients ❤
Done before her best comedy role and my favorite comedy with her and Peter Bowles. The wonderful To the Manor Born😉

@@Greenwillow He looked good in that outfit, even while tumbling head over heels 😍
Absolutely. I have the full collection on D.V.D. Some very satisfying viewing there.
A superb actress. Such a wonderful lady and comes across very easy and lovely to listen to. I always loved her persona and the way she laughs.
@ROCKINGMAN Oh yes, she has such a contagious laugh, totally unselfconscious. Her nose wrinkles in delight!
@@andrewthornhill7042 Yes indeed!
Pezza Kezza on banging form as per, fair play to the lass
Happy days!
She got married the year after.
That third question was shocking
Funny the interviewer thinks nuns are all quiet shy types. 😂

Keith is fantastic and gracious but Parky is horrendous.
Seriously? Her height is the most interesting thing Parkinson could think of to discuss with her?
Agreed.
5’10” (1.78m)
Think he focussed on her height enough?? Talk about making an issue out of it.
LOL
I wonder if he ever badgered a male actor about being short. Perhaps he was intimidated by her. She was gracious throughout.
A true English rose 🌹

That is correct 👌🏽

Yes, exactly but I doubt anyone goes to the Council Tax (as it's called now) and itemises what they'll pay. :)
A graceless , probing interrogation
she knew what to expect - he was the same with all
I imagine Penelope as 5ft 11"? But maybe taller. To hear she is anything less than, is a bit of a shock as she came across as tall woman.
She’s 5’ 10”
Some of Parko"s questions are silly and stupid
Not exactly
So let's get a great actress in and spend most of the interview going on about her height. Yawn.
Wasted her time; and ours.
The enjoyable point, if there is one, was listening to her voice.
I like her voice.
