- TURN UP YOUR VOLUME and listen to the immense sound of the worlds largest commercial engine spooling up and roaring as it powers this Etihad B777-300 down runway 23L at Manchester.
In 1995, the GE90 engine debuted aboard a British Airways 777 airplane along with commercial aviation’s first-ever carbon-fiber composite fan blades. Early GE90 engine models boasted outputs between 74,000 and 94,000 lbs. of thrust, and today it remains the world’s largest turbofan engine.
During certification testing in 2002, the GE90-115B engine set a world-record 127,900 lbs. of thrust.
This spotting location at Manchester offers spectacular views along with incredible sound as aircraft spool up just metres away from you!

I have no idea why or how
But I just love watching planes take off
It's so satisfying
Simon Corcoran especially for earth and climate change :)
It could be *ASMR*
Finally someone who said it
Same here,
So, do I.
Most refined engines I've ever heard. The Boeing 777 has been my absolute favourite jet since 1995.
they're great, thanks for watching
Me, too
tf 39 engines sound better
To this day it's still hard to believe how much bigger they are then the rest. When you get one crossing on screen it's like WAIT A MINUTE..........!
I wouldn’t call myself a plane guy but for some reason these videos are fascinating to watch 😎
well there are plenty more videos on our channel if you're still fascinated by them
Great to watch!
Awesome to watch! Planes are awesome!
If you love planes enough you become an aviator. Like myself.
@@ezekiel.j.ellis.8146 😍wanna be an aviator too
It’s a miracle that 70 tons can get up into the air...and stay there😃👍🏾...These machines command and deserve respect which makes them fascinating✈️👍🏾
it is heavier than 200 tons, some 300 tons mtow
horse power in fan/jet engine is not relevant, thrust is only measure of strenght/power of jet/fan engines
You guys are correct that planes do use lbs of thrust ,but there is a calculation that can be used to calculate the equivalent horse power
If you had to accelerate 275 tons up to 180 mph in 25 seconds down a runway or less you would need around 200,000hp
@ great teaching. Thank you for the knowledge
@@cellpat7392 imagine what would you have to put those 200.000 hp on yours every day drive people?
Such a beautiful bird...that pearlescent paint on those Etihad aircraft is just gorgeous
Ikr. Good eye, bro. It’s probably the best finish I’ve ever seen on a jet plane. Ever.
I worked at the Evendale, Ohio GE aircraft engine manufacturing plant back in the 1980's. Our unit use to broach cut the slots in the high and low pressure disks that the turbine blades attach to. It was quite an operation for sure.
Yep, worked on broach machines, and boring mills on GAS turbines at Westinghouse! Loved that job!!
Jet planes are truly amazing, but given the seemingly countless amount of moving parts, I think it’s insane that so many people casually fly in them all day everyday. You couldn’t pay me to get on a plane unless it’s very small and has parachutes. LoL.
@@kennybeans6115 LOL, that being the most dangerous plane!
Watching airplanes take off and land NEVER GETS OLD.
Retired RN, who loves planes! This video is splendid! I enjoyed the close views, the incredible sound of those engines, the planes in the background. Wonderful work!!
Content: hell yes. Clarity and smoothness: hell yes. Editing and flow: hell yes. Subbed.
Virgin: hell yes
Stunning lighting and stunning sound. Fantastic work!
thanks mate
My most favourite planes in the world. ☺
Thank you for a fabulous upload. Great work. 777-300 with GE90 engines, nothing better
cheers mate
Music to my ears! Love those amazing engines! Absolutely incredible! Liked!
haha, indeed it is
What an amazing video mate! Those GE-90's are really awesome!
thank you very much! They are awesome
MT Aviation can you see the exhaust coming out the back
Accident investion
Until you work on them
Sky Bound fuck up 😂😂
No matter how many times i see such footage i'm impressed ever time.
thanks michael
So I am not the only one who likes jet engine roar more than any music.
Oh yah i love the sound of airliners and watching them come in and go out
Outstanding! Congrats to videographer and Boeing & Etihad.
Thanks for sharing!
thanks for watching
gorgeous GE-90s
they are indeed gorgeous
Bugatti: *I am speed*
GE90: *well then im like.. triple speed*
I remember seeing the first 767-400ER during a tour of the Everett plant around 2000. The disc brakes were made by... Bugatti!
@@deadfreightwest5956 That’s not triple speed. That’s triple stop!
@@deadfreightwest5956 Also known as Volkswagen
GE90: hold my power
superb job love the GE90!
i think we all do
BREATHTAKING sound...GREAT JOB!
It’s amazing to think that these two engines muster the energy to take off with all the weight of the passengers & I doff my cap off to the people who can pull this off! Good video!
It's the wings that carry the weight ,the engines just push it
The 90 is the engine that acts like it doesn't care what's around it besides it's brother to the left or right. They are astonishing. Effortless!
Wow well done loved it!! The sound music too the ears.
So many inventions known to man, I find this to be one of the most incredible ❤️❤️❤️
Always impressive watching an aircraft like the 777 lift off.
Nothing compared to the spooling of a classic Boeing 707! I will never forget that sound as long as I live, having flown to Europe on TWA, Pan-Am, Sabena, and Olympic Airways Boeing 707's 'back in the day'!
Excellent. Just what we came for. I never get tired of watching something that big and heavy, effortlessly it seems, leave the ground telling gravity to piss off. Good job.
If only I could upgrade my pod racer with a couple of these engines, I could make a fortune on Tatooine.
Absolutely wonderful.What a great sound!
Best aviation video I have seen to date, close and fascinating.
I work for an oil company. The oil rigs are fitted with GE gas turbines only for electric power generation. GE products are very trustworthy, efficient and robust. I also recall my 30-year old GE fridge still functioning despite all punishment it stood such as power surges and scorching summers.
yeah, GE make some good things
I hear ya brutha
I just pulled my GE furnace out of my house last month for replacement. Install date 9-07-72. Was a fire breathing beast.
add a vote for GE a/c units.... best ever... (even in today's world of companies cheapskating everything!)
I had a GE ref for over 20 yrs Never had any problem. I had to replace it with a LG ref. The LG ref broke down after 1 year I had. It is a Korean name ref but it made in China.
I'm over here saying to myself, "as slow as that's going it's not getting off the ground!!"
We all are gonna ignore how awesome the ATR sounded at the beginning? :)
Beautifully Filmed as usual! Great video :)
cheers Mitch!
They are amazing. I worked for FedEx and loved the sound of these taxiing in and on push back - the deep bass tones were incredible to behold on start-up.
great machines
Yeah, like some other comments on here, the Triple 7 is my favorite...It’s big inside and fits my frame just perfectly for those long flights
Awesome. Thanks for uploading it. 😎🍻✈
thank you
How could you not LOVE Jet Engines.
NICE, AMAZING POWER!!
What an amazing video. others should learn from you. Great sound quality, and great spotting. best best best

Just so beautiful to watch and hear!!!! Love it 💜

It sets you right back in your seat when those engines spool up! Amazing feeling…love the takeoff!

Love the 777 my favourite aircraft!! Nice video
they're up there, but the 747 has it for me
I'm imagining myself in plane in the future. This will be first step to my future life.
Great video

I liked it. Thanks. Huge!!
Beautiful 2 camera views thanks for sharing

Impressive GE90 roars! LIKE
The GE90 sure does roar!
Those are some huge engines!
What a great video of a fantastic airplane, the mighty Boeing 777-300ER!
Nice video work !
cheers mate
Excellent video + pure music !!
glad you liked it mate
God, how I love the sound of a jet engine.
haha, and this one is one of the best too
Notice how it seemed to take a while to stabilise the engines?
Fantastic filming by the way..!
excellent work
Worked on gas turbines at Westinghouse, and worked on commercial aircraft at Boeing, so I got a taste of both sides!! Very interesting jobs!!
Two different triples, great video
Beautifully done.
cheers
LOVE the trip 7 and GE engines. Just an awesome combination.
It sure is!
My dad worked in Airports authority of India.
So I was born in hearing these aircraft sounds right from my childhood days.
My favourite aircraft Boeing 747
Great videos and great camera work......
cheers Peter
Nice catch
Sweet sound to my ears!!!
now that is a LOT of power
Nicely done, love the transition from one camera to the other, music to the ears.
thank you very much
OMG! That is huge. I love to see them take off and land, but you een ga get me to go on that.
It's the power in that throttle control,,, those huge engines that are placed so independent from anything else,, and the sheer force produced that is required to make these huge vehicles fly that is so alluring 😝✌️
I do like this livery for Etihad. Looks retro yet modern
Love watching the airplanes 🛫 best job ever
My recollection of the diameter of this engine cowling from a tour of the Boeing large aircraft facility was that it was the same size as that of the fuselage of a 737. That in itself is truly amazing. Neat video, thanks!
I have been on a Cathay Pacific B777 -300ER. Amazing aircraft!
Best tuned engine I have heard
certainly is
Stunning footage, really well done!
thank you
it must be great to be able to live near this airport and hear these huge engines 24 hours a day.
It is nice, thanks for watching
@@MTAviation I flew on the trip 7 a few times; it is an amazing jet.
Such a Beast!!
Sounded so good that my broken headphones fixed themselves
I love it thumbs up for who record this
Simply marvelous
Fantástica filmagem deste Boeing 777-300
Those are some really big engines.
It's astounding that these two engines can drag that plane off the ground and set it down 7000miles away.
Yeah those twin propellers sound amazing. Feel like cutting grass on a industrial lawnmower. Lol. 😄
Was so happy when the lawnmower fucked off 😂
Effing brilliant 🙌
What an amazing beast!!
Personally I prefer the sound you get when you're taking off in a 717 with this sound a close second. I dont know much about planes, being only 15 and all, but I just think they're cool so I watch these videos sometimes lmao
1:50 coming through, Yahoo 😁
That turboprop 🤣
Them engines are huge
Beautiful!
