Mostly for the western leaders to push their narratives and the US to play the big, friendly brother image, defending all weaker allies/ nations in defence of its hegemony. Why highlight the conflict in the South China Sea instead of the genocides happening in Gaza, where thousands of innocent Palestinians have been massacred by the Zionist regime, supported financially and militarily by the US and allies. Why not discussed about the hundreds of protests by citizens happening all over the world against the hypocrisy of their leaders and government? Why don't the delegates discuss about the hypocrisy of the US's "Rules based International Order" when it comes to Gaza? Well, clearly this is a forum for the western interests organised by a British think-tank, mainly to serve their own western interests.

Asia, particularly ASEAN, can be a peaceful region as long as USA and NATO stay out.
    Look at Ukraine and Gaza.
Ukraine war was sparked by the West, in particular USA, manuvering and instigating President Zelensky to antagonise President Putin. Unfortunately, President Zelensky foolishly listened to USA and NATO which led to Russia launching a military operation in late 2022. To date, both USA and NATO chose to prolong the war instead of easing and stopping further hostile activities, leading to greater suffering by Ukrainian civilians.
Gaza war was sparked by an attack on Israeli civilians by Hamas militants on 7 October 2023. PM Netanyahu reacted by launching a war against Hamas, without any regard for the human lives of Palestinian civilians in Gaza. To date, Israel claimed to have killed 10,000 Hamas fighters, but more than 30,000 Palestinian civilians perished in the onslaught by Israeli forces. Are the Palestinian civilians regarded as justified collateral by PM Netanyahu? Yet, instead of demanding a ceasefire, which United Nations did and is still doing, USA vetos and continues to ship military weapons to Israel.
Is USA interested in PEACE at all?
    Certainly USA is NOT.

Instead of sending coast guard to protect the dispute area, the Philippines choose to risk their fishermen and journalist life to make propaganda news. *Code of Conduct (COC)* hasn't been finalized or signed yet, trespassing in a disputed area guarded by Chinese Navy is not a smart move for the Philippines leader. China is aggressively using military grade lasers and water cannoning Filipino civilians. China is also claiming a big chunk of Philippine’s exclusive economic zones. If war breaks out, it’s by self-defense and the finger would be on Chinese aggression. ASEAN, including the Philippines prefer restraint and diplomacy for the region to peacefully develop. Sigapore isn’t the only one who suffers if there is escalation-almost 50% of world trade passes through the area. ASEAN needs reforms in order to have a bigger voice in their own backyard and to balance Chinese or American influence and dominance! Collectively ASEAN will be a big force in a multipolar world if it gets its act together.
