I went through the Allen mall shooting, 8 innocent people out for a day of shopping dead and 5 who were injured and who’s lives were brutally thrown off track. The shooting wasn’t school related but I’ve been struggling a lot since, the worst thing about being in a shooting is that you know everyone else in the country is obsessed over the shooting for a week or so and is all like “we’re always here for you survivors!” Then a month later everyone else forgot about it yet here are the survivors alone and suffering, we haven’t forgot and it affects our every day life, I’m too young to be scared whenever I go out in public or to not be able to go out to the mall with my friends anymore because I physically can’t. My thing here is to not forget and to keep supporting the survivors, anyways thanks for listening to my Ted talk
I am sorry that happened to you. Several of my friends have been raped, at knifepoint.
Get professional help; many places have money for victims. It helps to know that you are not alone in your suffering.

@@maybtom4u And yet here we are...
I appreciate this because it doesn't sugar coat the facts. The fear of school shootings should not be part of childhood. And yet, here we are. This is real life. The only reason I feel even remotely comfortable with my kids attending public school is because they employed an official safety officer from the sheriff's department who is there all the time. I dread the day I have to explain to my kids (both elementary aged) that school shootings are a thing, and THAT is why they practice safety drills. (The teachers don't go into detail, which is probably for the best.)
I feel very bad for all of those parents who’d lost their child in the shooting and even the students because they are maybe still traumatized because of this. R.I.P to those children I’m praying for the parents and children to have strength
Of course they are still traumatised, trauma doesn't go away
You know, online school seems really nice right now.

Yeahh but its pandemic if this happen we would be all dead in school
I'm glad I got done a year early
My sister is 17, just finished her junior year entirely online, and one of the first things she said to us was, "At least I don't have to worry about being shot" when they finished last year, when she was 16, online, not in class. This fall they're set to offer both online and in-class and she wants to stay online. I remember lockdown drills when I was in school a while back (I'm 30) but I never felt like "another day, another chance I'll be shot down at school". I hate my sister deals with that.
Until some random student ddos attacks the class
You know it’s bad when “Back to School” commercials are literally saying, “Survive the school year”.

I’m Australian and it is mind-boggling how some Americans are fine with a chance of this happening in exchange for “personal protection”. In Australia, we has one massacre and banned them.
Mexico has much stronger gun laws than the US. Do you know why the 1994 assault weapons ban ended? It's because there was a sunset claus conditional on whether or not they could prove the ban actually did anything.
It's not just personal protection. It's protection from a tyrannical government. 5 years ago I would've believed that tyrannical government a fantasy. Now I live under one. Though thanks to guns it can't put me in a camp like it did to Australians. At least yet.

Thankfully nothing happened and if something did me and my mom were far away from the area but it could have ended tragically. I live in a quiet little town so it’s surreal to think about it
As a kid I didn’t realize this was a school shooting psa, because my school never taught us or had drills just the “hide in the corner of a dark room and you’ll be fine”. The part where the two kids are standing by the door, the door isn't even locked. They want the shooter to come in so they can attack him and stop his rampage. Notice how they can be visible but at the right angle where you have to get close to shoot them, one of them gets close to the shooter and takes on the task of almost getting shot, the other throws his/her object at the shooter. Also, the entire class isn't very far away, I presume they have books to throw at the shooter aswell.

Teaching kids how to survive a school shooting is better than teaching them how to hide in a corner
Highschool senior here, last year a boy was killed at a bus stop near our school. The shooter had time to flee and went through the corn fields that are close to my school. At 7:21am our school went on lockdown, my friends thought it was a drill until the announcements came on and said to get yto your classes now. We have until 7:15-7:30 normally to get to our classes so my friends and I were walking through the halls. I was on the other side of the school, so I pushed my friends to their class yelling go, while booking it up the stairs and into my class in about 2 minutes. I ended up calling my mom to tell her I loved her, though I was shaly doing so because I didn't want to bother her. This entire time we had no idea what was happening, all we knew was that we were on lockdown and it wasn't a drill. They put us on lockdown because the shooter could have entered the building with incoming students. I still remember that. Later I started working at a mall that had 1 shooting 2 days before I started, and another while I was working near christmas time. I am very cautious of loud sounds and I tend to always have an eacape plan. It hurts the fact that we, young kids, have to deal with this crap. Its scary, we can't really be kids all that often, and we go to school sometimes wondering if todays the last day.

now I know how to protect myself and my classmates and my teachers from a school shooting thank you🙏😇 💗💖
when i was in the fifth grade, a shooter from downtown had ran all the way to the fence by the open PE field of our school while we were in PE. the day was quite foggy so you couldn't see all that well, plus it was windy (likely because it was tropical storm season). the shooter emerged from the fog and began shooting at policemen hiding by the parking lot next to the field, and i was one of the first few kids to see it. an officer was shot, and when we heard the sounds and saw the silhouette of the gun we all ran, terrified, into the equipment closet where we sat for four hours in complete silence. kids were wailing, texting their parents that they loved them, and the teachers who stared at us with hollow, solemn expressions i had never seen from them before. no child was injured, and the man was arrested, but a standoff so close to my school was almost like feeling death loom near. i can only imagine what would have happened if he had redirected his fire to the gates, where we were out playing in the open...stay safe, guys.
I hope you stay safe
This is why the no phones in school rule, is stupid. They don't need any expensive high tech phone, just a phone able to contact the parents or the police. Maybe siblings and other family members.
But then the parents freak out and come to the school 99% of the time
@@redsunflowers7925 but they still need to contact the police..... and why wouldn’t you want to send a last message to your parents in that situation-
This is true, at my school we almost had a shooting and my class was in the middle of a test so we sat in the dark to 2 hours not knowing what was going on and we couldn’t get our phones.
if every teen with a phone all tried to text a family member at the same time, it could potentially overload the cell towers some now and make it hard to call the police
My school allows us to have our phones in our pocket and turned off but we can’t get on it y’know?

Person who had the headphones he heard the gunshots off screen, he ran to a classroom luckily.
Girl with the socks, the shooter didnt see them so they turned, yet didnt see students and got ambushed by the kids who had scissors and attacked and disarmed them.

The fact that we need commercials like this is terrifying. This is the world we live in now.
yes it will traumatized children
Weeboo ho No, that’s the world AMERICA is living in.
mingixnho
some person might just want to cause trouble like that. or get revenge on a teacher
You mean America is living in
Yeah at my school in 8th grade a kid brought a Bibi gun to school and was waving it around in the boys bathroom. In 7th grade though at a different school which was next to a highschool, there was a lockdown because someone supposedly brought a gun to school there. We all kind of just accepted we were probably gonna die so the four people next me and I just started watching the Bee movie on Netflix because we didn't really know what else to do. Most of the time I was praying tho. So yeah, these things are normalized in our society now.
I feel lucky that I live in a very good area compared to the rest of my country. In 2021 there were riots and shootings all over my country and it was traumatising as my 9 year old self was watching the news with my parents, I’m so grateful that the school I go to is very good and came up with a plan to do online learning again… I still hate online learning but it was for the best.
I’m heading to middle school in a month or so and in my last year there we had a some run away criminals and the had entered the school grounds and the office people and my classroom heard police sirens just moments before we had a lockdown a lot of us were confused and trembling with fear out of the possibility of what might happen to us and the 4th graders that were with us for the year and I comforted a 4th grader near me who couldn’t stop crying so I inched closer and asked if she needed to be hugged she nodded and I sat and hugged her for the next 5min that felt like 20 ,when it was over we had learned that our school used to be a mini prison and we had thick doors and brick walls for a reason…
Aww that sucks when she’s talking about her socks, you can see the shooter in the hallway
Yeah it can't be a cop or a teacher for one Teachers are never supposed to leave during situations like this and are supposed to stay near the kids and protect them and if it was a cop he would've have been holding his gun up getting ready to fire at any moment to kill the shooter.
My last words before death, By Shooter, "I Love you mom, I Love you dad, I love you my 3 brothers.." 😓
@@chriscole4512 it could have been a cop. If the girl sitting down with the wound was shot already, that means the shooter already passed her. Also, the shooter would be attempting to get into classrooms to kill as many people as possible not just walking down the hallway
someonehasslushies it’s not an officer. They’re trained much differently and they would be in groups
Pink Champagne definetly not an officer
Jesus, the bathroom girl is such a great actress.
Jesus christ this is my most liked comment
She wasn't acting. What a twist!
Bold of you to assume she was acting😭😭😭

@Victor Vega you could not have enough time to run away tho
People joke about it because its bad
I'm sure that the comments on the song 'Pumped-Up Kicks' will put a REEAL smile on your face...
That’s the American experience!
That would be so scary
So heartbreaking knowing Americans CHOOSE this for their children. They can stop this but CHOOSE not too

Is anyone going to talk about the fact that these kids aren't even high school aged yet? These are middle schoolers, elementary schoolers even.
So true! Just goes to show that it doesn’t matter how old you are, you always need to be prepared

This highly emotional for me to watch especially the ending with the girl in bathroom and someone walking in.

Yup
Sadly, yes.
@Goth Jesus ok boomer
Yea, our country has problems
@Goth Jesus idk why you typed that. The Internet is too ignorant to care or even read it but thank you.
When the girl shows her binders, you can see the teacher locking the door in the background
And when the kid puts on his headphones the kids in the background start running
I checked it and you're right. Never noticed that.
@@chiakicore5984 you can spot that better, but yea.

I'm 15 and going to school and this gave me chills
😢😢😢this brought tears to my eyes.. im so sorry kids have to worry about things like this 😢
Positive ending : the perosn who came in the end into the bathroom is the girls teacher
Claire Edwards thats still not a positive ending bc the shooter would most likely still kill them both
Plot twist: The teacher is the killer!
Claire Edwards but why would they walk so slow
The positive ending should be the police officer opening the door
Tysm
If I texted my dad in a life threatening situation like that, I would get no response for like 10 hours and then he would just say “k”
👍
Lmao
I feel that. The few times I've had school shooting threats I would always text him and he'd be like "k"
Ok 👍
