#1 Stadium Disaster: Chargers’ attendance
It does alot better when hosting the LA Galaxy.
I live in San Diego and have relatives that are chargers fans, I experienced that in San Diego and LA
Rays*
As a charger fan I couldn’t have said it fucking better lmaooo
16 road games every year
There is a callapse currently at Ford field the on field play
It's a tradition.
2007: 6-2. 1-7 finish.
2012: 4-4. 0-8 finish.
2013: 6-3. 1-6 finish.
And this season.
The Silverdome sustain roof damages too.
I love your profile picture!
It's This Channel lol
"The worst time to have a heart attack is during a game of charades..."
Damn, son.
Don’t joke about that dude that’s how my dad died
The #1 engineering disaster: The entire Dallas Cowboys coaching staff
A field goal on 4th and 7? Troy Aikman was going insane.
David Lafleche I’m not a Cowboy fan in fact my team embarrassed them (the Jets) but I don’t understand why they didn’t go for it your not gonna get back to the Red Zone on The Patriots in that weather.
Cowboys fan here and u r completely right
i live in dallas and everyone here loves the cowboys but when i went to galveston we stopped at a gas station and the clerk was talking a hobo and as i was looking for drinks i heard the hobo say that the cowboys are an embarrassment to texas im interested in football but i think i’ll stick to wrestling and hockey for now
So we’re just gonna act like the metrodome’s roof didn’t completely fail
That was relatively minor, it didn't "completely" fail, and it wasn't an "engineering disaster." It was a fairly easy repair job.
Wasn't a disaster per se. it just snowed way too much and the crew couldnt keep up with it and the roof collapsed. Plus it was repaired pretty quick
JSivco3 Sivco yeah ig. The news just made a big add deal about it because I live in Bloomington
It’s what it got for being in an arctic wasteland where it snows 8 inches every time it snows (I live in MN)
Yes
Not a stadium but when i hear the phrase "engineering mistake", the Johnstown flood always comes to mind
St. Francis Dam was even worse.
Damn Dams!
I live less than an hour from there
Engineering Mistake: Levis Stadium
someone forgot about the heat problems...who the hell wants to sit in that stadium in 90 degree weather with no cooling system or overhang.
I'll tell you why they built it: Because $$$
Should've built it like the Seahawks' stadium
MarloSoBalJr .....or simply indoors....the rams and chargers were smart enough to start building one.......
Check out Sick's Stadium...a place that truly lived up to its name.
Colt Stadium: hottest ballpark ever built.
Schaefer Stadium: All you need to know is the "Super Flush" incident.
Rohan it doesn’t usually get that hot. Candlestick never had an awning
“Watch the lions maul the saints”
I see what you did there
Only time that has ever been said 😝
And it never happened. Christ's death was still a few years away, so...
It sounded like he was mentioning the Detroit Lions and the New Orleans Saints.
@@jasonfire3434 Normally it's the other way around.

My engineers worked hard to design the world’s largest stadium for the world’s largest gymnastics display
Jokes on you. The world's largest stadium is Bristol Motor Speedway. Never said it had to be for a ballgame.
You ok bro?

You should've included the Maracana stadium collapse of 1992. When it collapsed it killed 3 people, and a heli was flown onto the pitch. And believe it or not the game actually continued afterwards!
(Great video, as always)
tstanton_ _ yeah that was insane! I was looking for total devastation in these though :)
It was the brazilian national championship final. A local Rio derby between Flamengo and Botafogo.
Last time that the concrete giant (as we call the Maracanã here in Brazil) received a crowd of over 120k
For the "bug blue" accident the crane operator had actually refused to opperste in the wind so the company found somebody else who would
And thats why only 3 people died, cuz the rest used their brains and didnt want to be a part of that.
Name a better combo than five points and stadiums

When they built the Joe Louis Arena they were like 3 quarters done when they realized that they forgot about the press box, but that arena became pretty awesome and historical!
*Top 5 Stadium Disasters*
1: MetLife Stadium
2: Tropicana Field and its “Attendance”
3: Every Browns Stadium
4: Spanos Soccer Stadium
5: The “Demolition” of the Pontiac Silverdome
There is nothing wrong with The Trop. It's actually kind of cute. It is the only dome ever designed for baseball first.
Disasters: Sick's Stadium, Schaefer Stadium, Colt Stadium, Exhibition Stadium.
I do like Tropicana Field as well. I like it, but it is truly a failure due to it having a terrible attendance and location in St. Petersburg.
@@davidlafleche1142 everything is wrong with Tropicana. It was designed by a drunk second grader who didn't know shit about baseball.
The Trops main problem is location. The actual stadium itself is kinda mediocre.
Marlin's Park?
The whalers were already in Hartford when the roof collapsed they were the New England Whalers in the WHA
Diasters lmao 0:29
Last time I was this early FivePoints had hair
sockhopper9683 thanks to manscaped.com that’s not a problem
FPV using Ancient Roman stadiums now in his videos....
Be Heard got to keep the stadium content rolling somehow
The stadium fetish will never satisfied.
Well if hes using those stadiums how come The Roman Colosseum wasn't in his abandoned stadiums list
Some of us have been waiting for this all along LOL
The civilization that helped to give us stadiums as much as any other
@@bjtgaming Technically not abandoned. Still hosts some cultural events like plays and music shows (at a much smaller capacity though).
I have one that you forgot, in 1968, The Philadelphia Spectrums roof had several pieces fly off of it. As a result, the Flyers had to play the next month in Quebec City.
Goal horn Crazy I’d like to see a follow-up vid
The Kingdome also had concrete roof chunks fall into the stands, forcing the Mariners to play in Tacoma for a while

Before you was born?? Man I'm getting old, I remember when that happen like it was yesterday. I came back from Florida a couple days before and saw the big blue wreckage
Reminds me of the 1902 Ibrox disaster where between 200 and 300 people dropped to concrete floor as a result of a stand collapsing

COME TO ARE GA, Hold up wait a second the roof collapsed, Let's us rebuild that aaaaaand, done! No back to more pressing matters. COME TO ARE GAMES!!!!!!
How about a video about the demolition of stadiums?
You know, a Circle of Life thing.
i just realized after this sponsorship you can tell everyone you've modeled for men's grooming advertisements. nice feather in your cap, there.
First! Also when it takes two times to blow up a stadium, you know that’s a problem
That’s just a well built stadium we just built it so damn good
Bro ur not first
If u were first u would be on 8 minutes while I’m on the 9th minute
*Pontiac Silverdome has entered the chat*
No Metrodome with snow destroying the roof;
No Georgia Dome where roof tore open from a tornado during a college basketball game;
No Kemper Arena from a structural defect in the late 1970’s;
No ‘Big Owe’ in Montreal for far too many reasons but others have commented about it anyway.
#1 : The approval of Marlins Park.
"Fool me THREE times, you're officially that guy..."
2:33 “actual footage” 😂
My dad knew someone who was involved with the miller park accident. The guy said he was very suprised they were doing the cranes that day
Also Olympic Stadium in Montreal in 1991. The Expos had to play the entire final month on the road because of structural damage
Great video I didn't know how many times these things happen it reminds me of when the Score Board fell on the ice in Buffalo in 96/97
When the announcers ask the fans to stop moving so much, that’s when you know it’s time to leave
I learned something from this video, it's safer to just stay at home and watch sporting events on the t.v.
Until your roof caves in....
Until you get drunk..
@ 2:30 Bravo towards making sure we all got a glimpse of the actual footage! Haha Well done!
2:45 I’m still calling it Miller Park even though they’re changing the name in 2021
Missed the Rosemont Illinois and Kansas City Missouri collapses
The roof at Blyth Arena, the 1960 Winter Olympics ice hockey venue, collapsed in 1983 after the US Forest Service installed insulation. The original uninsulated design was for waste heat to melt the snow on the roof. The insulated roof couldn't melt the snow fast enough, and the roof collapsed under the weight.
Globe Life Park
You had 20 years in Texas beforehand to learn it gets hot here in summer.
The most avoidable catastrophe in racing was Le Mans 1955 when a car got clipped and flew into a wall and large debris was flown into the stands, killing 84 people and injuring 180+. The car, made of magnesium, exploded after flipping onto the wall. The spectator deaths could've been avoided by ACTUALLY HAVING A FENCE AROUND THE STANDS. It was only defended by some hay. This wouldve reduced the many deaths and injuries.
Charlotte Motor Speedway bridge collapse, 2000?
I was working for ARCA at the time. Some of us wanted to get back to the motel and watch the All-Star race, and not have to deal with traffic. The bridge collapsed about ten or fifteen minutes after we drove under it.
If you're doing a part 2, be sure to include the Rosemont Horizon/Allstate Arena disaster in 1979
That's what I'm talking about! Less than 1 minute into the story and gold has already been stuck with "watching the Lions maul the Saints". Gold. Pure gold.
Love these videos FPV. Hope you and your Family have a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving
I remember Big Blue's collapse. I came home from school and was watching the news and the amateur video started hitting the airwaves. Every visit to Miller Park for me means a visit to the three men who lost their lives, it seems only fitting.
Sad day in Brewers history.
This is one of these videos I can't joke about and for the most part, this video did a good job making the human error go into a human feeling where lives were lost.
But when do the Lions maul the Saints in any universe?
As if my day couldn’t get any better.
My local stadium. Williams Brice stadium was renovated in the 80s with a new upper level. In its first few years the top sections actually swayed from fans and it was noticeable too. Eventually they added shock absorbers and fixed the problem.
This was a great choice for a new series 🔥👍.... Constantly one of the best sports entertainment channels on CZcams...Respect👊👍💯
You should have included Valley Parade, aka the Bradford City Fire. On May 11, 1985, a fire started under the wood stands. In less than four minutes, the stands were fully engulfed in fire and smoke. 265 were injured and 56 died in the fire.
The cantilever roof at Husky Stadium collapsed during construction in the 80s.
Thank you for the actual footage of the Roman stadium in the early first century. I didn't know the footage still existed.
Hello thanks for making me laugh all the times
Husky stadium in March 1987 as they built the upper north stands. Just the framework collapsed and they still managed to complete it in time for the season
At Charlotte Motor Speedway in 2000 after what was then the Winston (NASCAR’s Cup All-Star Race), a pedestrian bridge around the area of Turn 4 collapsed between the track and a parking lot which injured well over 100 departing spectators. It was found that the bridge builder used an imporper additive to help cure the concrete faster, which in fact due to a certain chemical in it corroded the steel cables and caused the collapse.
Video Idea-
A fan day for either of the major U.S sports(NHL,NFL,NBA or MLB). This fan day would allow fans to be more incorporated with the game. The fans could created new uniforms(designs or colors and maybe a re-imagined logo too). The fans could even come up with or call plays. I think this game being in the preseason would be the best.
I think this would be an awesome idea to explore in a video.
Keep up with the great content !
Here in Brazil we had the case of the Estádio Olímpico Nilton Santos in Rio de Janeiro. In 2013 (six years after his inauguration) the stadium was closed because a report showed that wind speeds of 39 mph could've lead to the roof fall. After two years of reconstruction the stadium was reopened to the public.
New England/Hartford Whalers played at the Hartford Civic Center (now XL Center) from 1975-1997. Hartford Wolf Pack 1997-present.
While playing cards (err...studying) in my dorm at Michigan State, I watched a roof section on cranes collapse on the Breslin Center as it was being built in the late 80s. Thankfully, nobody was killed there but it looked just like the accident at Miller Park.
maybe the biggest blessing for stadiums is the high chance of them being empty, The biggest enemy is that when they are full you have possibly up to a mid sized city of people depending on the engineering of one structure.
when fivepoints has a great vid on his way
Manscaped: hippity hoppity 3 mins are now my property
Great educational video. Blessings to the survivors of those whom lost their lives trying to provide a living for their families.
One the biggest ones in recent memory was that pedestrian bridge that connects straight to Charlotte Motor Speedway that collapsed in like 99’ or 2000. It injured like 100+ people
In Atlanta, all the worst collapses happen on the field during the playoffs.
Did no one notice that before the Manscape commercial, DISASTERS is misspelled? The first "s" is left out.
“The Worst Stadium Engineering Diasters” 0:28 lol
The Miller Stadium was actually not an engineering failure persay, but rather a cost/time savings act. They knew the winds were higher than what the had been calculated for that lift. They were behind schedule and decided to go ahead and lift the roof section. Which turned into a gigantic wing that created lift, and then floated up, then suddenly drifted down and pulled the crane over.
I expected the usual...funny jokes, manscape ad and insiders I will one day understand...
Then I saw a crane tip over and tear down half a stadium.
God damn^^ Talk about "trying to switch up my content"
I am an American building ice rinks in Germany, and the first thing I learned is to NEVER let a German design or build an ice rink. In 2017 they opened a semi-roofed arena in Schierke, and despite winning all sorts of architecture awards, they immediately discovered that it couldn't safely withstand typical winter weather conditions for the area due to a number of fatal design flaws and the improper use of materials. Nobody has been injured (yet), but it will cost hundreds of thousands of Euros to fix.
Though not stadium related but in Miami some structures have had many disasters a bridge by a busy street collapsed by my home and when i was in college the school was building a parking garage and the garage collapsed an hour after i left
Worst stadium disaster in history: 20,000 fatalities. Second worst: 18 fatalities
I’m just waiting on UCFs stadium to collapse🤔
"It's not the mayor's fault that the stadium collapsed"- from the episode "Sideshow Bob Roberts".
I’m a strong believer in over-engineering. Strength. Quality. Longevity. Prevention.
One you missed? Reconstruction of soldier field. Looks like men in black went drinking with the aliens
For a part two, how about the Rosemont Horizon (now Allstate Arena)?
Great work on the damn manscaped commercial.
Can you do another giants game stream please. Also, love all your videos.
A vew weeks ago the roof off the stadium off AZ(in the netherlands) was blown away by wind.
I always love the hesitation at 1:00 as to how the trimmer gets dunked. Who needs a second take?

Oh man, FivePoints went Roman on us! 🤩 Fantastic video about a somber subject

I heard those clippers are cutting balls out here 😂
Thanks for the discount of Manscape man. Can't wait to use it soon
Donald Templar AWESOME!
in our structure class, we learned about the blue crane diaster because if they would've accounted for these things it might have been preventable. also shoutout to that teacher for shouting at us multiple times that we might kill someone
I now expect a video on stadium fails caused by poor construction/materials
The worst stadium disasters are multi-purpose stadiums.
The roof of Montreal's Olympic Stadium. This was a disaster from the time it was designed. Who thought that was actually gonna work?
Stupid frogs never bothered to test the mechanism in a wind tunnel. Actually, the first retractable roof that worked was The Civic Arena in Pittsburgh.
When gigantic crane lifting gigantic stuff starts to make weird noices, run the fuck away and be fast
That's a shame about the Knick-Ei stadium. It was absolutely gorgeous before... well... you know.
A stadium in England caught fire during a football game. Can't remember the Club. Video is on CZcams. It was a massive fire. Wasn't anything related to how it was built I don't think but maybe you could have added it for a bonus.
Edit: The Club was Bradford
