- Last issue I made a floor/foundation for my cabin in the woods. I impregnated the frame with insect and moisture protection. Also painted the floor. For someone who is building a cabin like this for the first time, I think it turned out pretty good. Today I assembled the front and back walls and installed the joists on the roof. If I can build my cabin off the grid...everyone can. It just takes a little patience.

Would love to know where all this premium lumber comes from. If I was to buy 2x4’s from any retail box store up here in Canada CZcamsrs would be asking me, “Why the 3rd rate materials?” I’ve never seen such straight boards in my life.
