In this weeks Legendary Weapon Preview I look at the Vladof Sickle, a Legendary Assault Rifle that is more like a shotgun, and hey look a star wars reference in the title:). - Hry
It's not just that enemies move around more and run from grenades. I am slowly noticing neat little "A.I." improvements.
1. Skags will play fetch with grenades that don't explode right away and bring them back to you. It's really funny. Try it with by throwing grenades with no grenade mod equipped. I think they are just eating the grenade and then just running at you normally before the grenade explodes but it really looks like they are play fetch like a dog.
2. Those psycho sluggers will smack Tediore reloads back at you with their baseball bats.
3. I don't know if this was just a glitch but when playing sherif Amara, I killed about 6 enemies with one shot and a lone surviving enemy just ran away and I never saw him again.
A psycho actually killed me with my own grenade once. I was so stunned

My impression from watching this is that accuracy and fire rate would probably help most. The damage it dished out to Traunt at the end I think shows that it's doesn't lack damage when all pellets land.
That or some juicy splash damage, evidently. When all your pellets explode, having a funky pattern hurts less.
same for me, that weapon dont worth a slot on my bank, but i dont want to throw away in case it gets a buff in the future
There is a variant of that gun called the Boom sicle (it's fire damage and has splash damage) which I found and it is extremely good on an Amara elemental focused build ! As always great video.
Slash damage? This isn't Warframe...

Got the same variant but it's also good on fl4k mine is non elemental though
@@carloslovato8923 I have a Radiation one, Anointed Beastmaster. So while Gamma Burst is active I gain 65% more radiation damage. I don't have an elemental build though. Going to make one just to test it out
As soon as you find a Trevanator or Faisor you can scrap this thing though. Both of those are way better on Amara.

I have a really strong verison of the Sickle which has explosive rounds. its soo much stronger than the one without, I found the normal one a bit weak and not too enjoyable but the explosive one changed my outlook so much for it
Edit: That Snowdrift relic you go at the end. I'm soo jealous haha, I've been after that exact combo of snowdrift Otto for ages! nice drop!
I agree it's a blast with boom prefix but a pass without.
Boom Sickle is what you want to find. Also put the crosshairs to the left of where you want to hit using right side of the reticle for center because of the pellet pattern. It's a close range wrecking machine if you learn its nuisances.
Its a startrek referance, because Fasior sounds like phaser...
Also, it has three settings, first one is "warning", second is "stun", third one strights up kills your ass...
Been running this on Moze. I have an entire build centered around this gun for her, with points in the DW and SoR trees. Since it's basically a shotgun with a larger ammo pool, ammo conservation isn't a huge problem. Great gun for mobbing, pretty good on bosses and named enemies.

Man, the reload and shooting sounds of Vladof weapons are just fantastic. Some of the best in the game.
I think overall BL3 nailed the gun sounds. They all sounds waaaaay more satisfying than previous games. Not to say that there weren't great sounding guns in BL2 but BL3 surpasses games of the past.
Only a few minutes into the vid so not sure if you brought this up but scoping in with sickle tightens the pellet spread significantly, but yea the base model isn’t great, the damage is good but it just needs a fire rate buff imo, I mean it’s a vladof gun for crying out loud! This gun is obviously homage to the hammer shotgun from BL1, so it’s fire rate should be similar to that beast
I found a really cool one that was cryo with added splash damage, I think that version would be optimal
Used a radiation sickle on amara for a bit, but the firerate and reload were just really lackluster
I would love to see them bring back the omen
I used it a little bit on speedy kill skill Zane. It was pretty ok.
I could see this as being great for an Amara shotgun build for being a bit more efficient with your shotgun ammo pool.
Sickles can come in any element, though I haven't seen a cold dmg one. All the elemental ones have a blast radius, so that synergies with mose decently.
I have a freeze one.
Think they should do something about the bullet decals, it's just weird not being able to look at spread patterns and stuff.
I pulled it on my normal playthrough with Moze from Graveward it was ok but the accuracy from hip for full auto hold the trigger was too poor just ended up going back to a Hyperion shotgun only benefit it really has is a shotgun using assualt rifle ammo pool
Just say the Faisor references both Star Wars and Star Trek. You do technically set your weapon to stun and/or kill your target in both franchises.

I can see this thing wrecking with a Cryo Zane build because of his ability to get in peoples faces and be pretty okay. Plus he's got good firerate and reload synergy which this wouldn't mind it seems.
I think one of the main draws of the gun is not so much the damage but it's a shotty with significantly more ammo than a normal shotgun. Which is certaintly nice to have.
The Red Text on the Faisor is indeed a Star Trek Reference not Star Wars. Phasers are the regular weapons in Star Trek and the sentence "Set Phasers to stun" is a famous Star Trek quote. I don't know why the called it "Faisor" and on the weapon card it is "Faiser" maybe copy right issues?
I will say for freezing a freeze sickle is great for zane cause he can freeze easy with low ammo consumption to keep ur action skill out forever
Can confirm is good on Moze, weirdly it seems the elemental ones may have splash damage on them or can spawn with splash parts, or at least the radiation one can which makes it considerably better
I tried the Sickle and gave it more than enough time on my lvl 50 Moze but for an assault rifle that functions like a shotgun, it gets outperformed by the Faisor. After sampling all the legendary Vladof assault rifles, the Sickle I found a little underwhelming, the Damned is ok but not spectacular, the Faisor and Ogre are both great if you're looking to profit from splash damage, Lucian's Call is good as a cryo mobbing tool, and the Shredifier is a lot of fun if you get a variant that comes with a secondary chaingun barrel. I need to do more testing with the Dictator when I get my hands on a lvl 50 one.
I really like my Faisor with radiation damage on Moze. Its a very good AR!
I'll explain the Star Trek thing. So, in many many Star Trek episodes, they say "Set phasers to Stun" or "Set phasers to kill" as their phasers had two separate settings so they would determine the level of threat and what phaser setting was needed at the time. I think this was meant to be a Star Trek reference, but... I do kinda get where you're going with Star Wars and that quote. Would be possible that Star Wars was taking a page from Star Trek in that scene.

I've been loving vlafof shotguns on moze actually. All her ammo regen with the guns natural ammo regen feel great
I have been using Snipers and ARs with shotgun underbarrels.. and refusing to use the actual guns. It's working really well for me too
It looks good for me. Maybe that would be good for shotgun Amara build.
I never got that, but it looks strong for me, specially considering it consumes rifle ammo and does average shotgun damage.
I think accuracys buffs might make this a little better. Btw have you tried out the sleeping giant? Its a neat gun with the special effect of increase reload or fire rate. I havent seen too many people use it but I think thats because the damage can be a little better and the special effect can proc more consistly.
I have a lvl 47 Quasar. I believe that you said that you wanted to test the synergy between Amara and using the Quasar. How do I get it to you?

If this thing had guaranteed splash like Westergun, it would be amazing. Probably. The explosive ones sure sound like the best.
Although if you can bump fire rate to nutty levels somehow, maybe that raw damage can go all the way? It hits like a truck that just happens to be swerving, but if you have six trucks...
They really should buff bullet decals though. GBX pls.
Yes - 3 shots placed well, recover health + shield, youre good to go for another 3 kills likely. On FL3K at least. Fire Rate buff would be welcomed to I'll bet.

I found one that does splash damage. Doesn't make it much better unfortunately. Maybe to balance it they should make the fire rate much better since it is a vladof and increase the damage a little.
This reminds me a bit of the Hammer from BL1 - which was top tier and has never been duplicated. They need to revive that thig for sure. It destroys anything in its path. This thing, not so much. If it just shot straight, no fancy pattern, it would prob be much better it seems from watching your game play here.
I'd like this gun a lot more if they'd just increase the fire rate. Since it can't come in elements I don't think it would be too much to ask, it certainly wouldn't make it OP, being a Vladof it would be much more fun that way too.
The sickle needs like 5x the firerate. IMO it should fire roughly as fast as the lyuda
I don't hate the Sickle but it needs help, larger mag and needs to be significantly faster rate of fire.

They should decrease the spread and maybe the damage and increase the fire rate by a good bit. I mean it's a vladof shotgun right?

I think they should increase crit dmg on base gun making it more rewarding for critical HITS. This would do a lot for builds, especially fl4ks crit build.
My sickle has +150 splash damage which is weird
Imo, that gun feels less impactfull, than purple Jacobs masher AR
Sickle is a weapon I want to like but have to admit needs a buff. There are so many good AR's and so many Amazing shotguns that the sickle just seems lost
If they increase the fire rate and boost accuracy and range it could be more worthy of legendary

You're doing less chunks then I do with this gun and you're not even on M3
It's definitely just about lining up those headshots and being the right distance. Much easier to use it effectively on mouse and keyboard of course
I dislike these gimmicky bullet patterns tbh, I think this gun is meant to be used with blast prefix which gives it splash. Also I agree with you about regular fade away, gitm is not so overpowered anymore and you have a reason to use fade away without it
Zane seems to be the fire rate king. Zane could be tanky enough. Maybe.

This should have been the Borderlands equivalent of the Saiga full auto shotgun but it fires waaay too slowly for that. I am disappoint.

Maggi has the Jacobs crit modifier also so that might be why

@@hiich1584 Sure thing. Jacobs weapons have a hidden crit modifier that varies depending on the type of weapon, (pistols have a different modifier than snipers etc).
Its there unique feature like tediore reloads and hyperion weapons gaining accuracy from holding the trigger down.

The Vladof shotgun mode (or this gun) just doesn't seem to put in the work they should compared to, well, actual shotguns.
I thought the opposite for a while. Vladov underbarrels seemed easier to roll an 8 mag and 10 pellet count with 1 ammo per shot than true shotguns by tedior and hyperion. At least in my first playthrough I shot more vladov shotgun than any other brand.
At least for purple/blues that is. They have a hard time keeping up with uniques for sure.
isn't this gun a slow firing AR ? not a shotgun? the explosive version with a element is far better.
It is technically an AR, however due to its firing pattern and design, its more like an assault shotgun that's been classified as an AR.

Im early on, but it may be better for a hit-N-run tactic: Moze with the large shield, or your invisible ability for sure. Yes, Close Quarters combat CQC indeed. Youre far too exposed so far. And taking too long to kill.
This gun just feels sluggish. Pass with that sickle fire pattern.

Even if they added vladof trademark rapid fire to the sickle it still wouldn't be as good as the Butcher.

Derchlands The gun simply doesn’t do enough damage compared to other weapons in the class. It’s a novelty at best, and the utility of using AR ammo for a shotgun style weapon is bad for two reasons, why would you waste AR ammo on a this when we have a plethora of AR’s that are meta. Also, there are weapons such as say the faisor that do the job better. The weapon feels like a handicap and needs a significant increase in raw power and fire rate to fill the niche it’s trying to fill.
