Ford hopes its petrol/electric hybrid Mondeo can convert enviro-conscious buyers in the medium range segment. This isn't a hybrid of the fashionable Plug-in sort, but it can still return over 50 to the gallon in regular use and offer a tax-busting sub-100g/km CO2 rating. And you can have it in either saloon or estate guises.

extremely informative and helpful review, sir, thank you. after owing two Mondeo's already, i was considering buying a very well-priced SH vignale from 2020, but had already been a bit sceptical after a test drive today. your review convinced me to keep looking: the first Mondeo to no longer be a diver's car plus the dated technology plus the wasted boot space were enough to convince me.

So the Mondeo must be built differently than the US version (Fusion). The Fusion hybrid and plug in hybrids don't have a 6 speed auto, rather they have an eCVT transmission which houses a generator/motor which is electrically coupled to the 88kW traction motor inside. Also because the eCVT houses the electric motor, only the battery is in the back of the car which I suppose is why the Fusion hybrid and plug in hybrids are not available as an all wheel drive. Also the Fusion does not use the Ti-VCT engine but an Atkinson cycle iVCT so it only varies the intake cam timing rather than intake and exhaust cams, which is also a 2000's era engine.

You are correct, this car has the same specification in Europe too. It was mistaken in the video, im pretty sure.
