  • Ford Mondeo Vignale takes its name from Alfredo Vignale, founder of an Italian coach maker. The company founded in late1940s, was taken over by De Tomaso in late 1960s. De Tomaso also owned Carrozzeria Ghia, and in the early 1970s both coach makers were acquired by Ford. Since then Vignale name appeared on several concept cars, until 2013, when Ford decided to use the name for its luxury sub-brand. Ford promises high quality. All Vignale cars undergo additional inspection. The Vignale quality centre checks 100 extra points, like fitting of parts and quality of paint. On the outside Ford Mondeo Vignale gets a different grill pattern, chrome details all around, and Vignale alloy rims. Inside the dashboard is covered in leather, and the Vignale leather upholstery has a hexagon-shaped emboss like on the grill. There is also elegant stitching on the sides. Standard equipment is plentiful.

    Got a used 2018 Ford Mondeo Vignale Hybrid sedan, 190hp, had 48000 km on it when I bought it. It's a head turner here in Italy, caught plenty of people checking it out while parked. Beautiful car. Looks aside, it's been incredibly reliable so far and super smooth and comfortable even on long trips. I've been very happy with it. The only con that comes to mind is that visibility from the driver seat could be better but you get used to it really fast. Oh and for our streets it's a massive car, you gotta be careful during some maneuvers because roads here in Italy were not designed for cars this size in mind

    Good review with some question marks. 45k - are they nuts? That insist that this one is rudiculously over priced, I do not believe it is that harsh. Driven this one and the V90 (a very good luxury car indeed) I found that the twentysomething thousand EUR difference is just right. So either the Volvo is ridiculously over priced as well or you just went a bit far with your conclusion. Just my two cents, not necessarily a right one, but I feel badges mean too much. This car rides as well as the Volvo, even more quiet. Of course the V90 is more of a beauty and offers a bit more in most of the segments but still. Superb LK is a good comparison here but if you are consistent that one should fall into the same over-price category.
    Thank you for your reviews I like them.

    Marek clearly doesn't have any idea how many people would say that they might just have the Ford over the Audi A4 . Times change you can deal with it or deny it. I learned that and eventually we have to acknowledge that. Ford can compete with some mercs even because lately mercs have suffered major letdowns in the quality of they interiors like creeks and bendy stuff hahahahahah

  • @Nath_Drev
    @Nath_Drev Před 2 lety +4

    yeah, you can get an A4 with no eqipment. Manula seat no message no leather small screen. jest beacouse it is a audi badge its automaticly better. but if i had thet driveway, i easily had taken the ford. it looks much better.

  • @mmmfloorpie
    @mmmfloorpie Před 6 lety +4

    Reviewers don't get this car. It's not to steal A4 owners. It is for people who are loyal to Ford as a brand and who have extra money to spend. They are already in the Ford dealership and say "give me the fully loaded one".
    It's like in North America. Ford could sell a $100000 USD F150 and people would buy it hand over fist.

    • @MarekDrives
      @MarekDrives Před 6 lety

      Let's put it this way, I know what they wanted to achieve, but they failed miserably. Vignales are sold at a huge discount, and leather dashboard seems to be the only real benefit. Fit and finish in some areas leaves a lot to be desired.

    • @llllll7484
      @llllll7484 Před 4 lety +3

      Marek, I have driven over 170 000 km with this car. Biturbo diesel. Get your snob approach, but zero issues, great drive, extra comfort. Needless to say that colleagues with Volvos and Insignias had problems with less mileage. In the end if you have badge fetish do not choose it. If you actually drive a lot - well you might want to be more realistic.

    I realise this is an old review but I feel compelled to comment. A good review is unbiased and covers what we need to know as consumers - your review is biased and superficial. Why you think VW/Audi group cars are a benchmark is beyond me, they are generally less reliable, more expensive to fix when they inevitably go wrong and are so advanced that the executives had to engage in a complex deceit to get through emissions testing - basically their over rated tech did not make the grade. You, like so many other sheeple have been brainwashed by clever marketing. You disrespect Ford as a brand but forget about the Mustang, the RS rally wins, the GT 40 which beat Porsche and Ferrari and the huge success of their commercial vans and pick ups. Sone older Ford examples fetch huge sums in auction too.. For you to say in the comments that this car is trying to be something it is not is laughable bearing in mind the lies your favoured brand told to consumers for some years - isn’t that what they did? The Vignale is a high trim level akin to Ghia from years ago, it is what it is. Personally, I would very much prefer this to an Audi A4 and possibly an A6 - it is better equipped and more luxurious than most examples of both, rarer, better looking imo, less expensive (no, more expensive really does not mean better all the time) and frankly less dull. The only kind of person that would be concerned about the badge on their driveway is the kind of person that needs to work on themselves to address personal insecurities.

    • @MarekDrivesENG
      @MarekDrivesENG  Před 10 měsíci

      Actually I had a fresh Audi A4 review on the channel at the time, and I included this line in the script to send people over to that review as well. Also it triggered a lot of comments, so I got the engagement I was hoping for :)
      As far as Mondeo is concerned, Ford is a strange brand that makes their car good in low-to mid spec, but higher trims make no sense whatsoever. Unfortunately Ford Poland had only high specs on the press fleet, so I felt right to show people what they are potentially paying for.
      A few years later I saw a bare bones Mondeo for half the price of this one (my friend got is as a company car), and for that kind of money it was a brilliant car, even though it had a screen the size of an old Nokia. But it was a lot of car for very little money. The Vignale is a cynical, overpriced and failed marketing exercise. They were discounting these like crazy, and having seen a couple of used examples I fear the quality control never improved.

      +ZAHARIA COSMIN (69RUP) Romanii de obicei isi cumpara Golf si eventual Passat daca vor ceva din clasa medie :). Nu sunt fan VW, dar in cazul de fata, as alege un Passat oricand in locul unui Mondeo Vignale sau dupa cum am spus, mai pun 5k pe langa cei 45k si cumpar 430i. Poate nu e la fel de dotat ca si tehnologie ( optiunile la marcile germane sunt stupid de scumpe ), dar cel putin arata mai bine la interior si s-ar putea sa fie mai confortabila.
      Ford incearca sa intre in segmentul premium, dar nu ai nici-o sansa in segmentul premium cu un interior atat de urat, ce seamana cu o Fiesta de 12k. Se mai pune problema de brand, cand spui "Ford", atributul "premium" nu intra in top 5. Din pacate sau din fericire, segmentul premium e dominat de producatorii germani si va ramane asa mult timp de acum incolo. Poate nu fac nemtii cele mai bune masini, dar cam asta e imaginea ce si-au creat-o ( facem abstractie de Dieselgate :) ).
