If you tried getting in on your opponent by parrying their anti-air in New generations, you will be sent flying across the stage completely screwing you over. 3rd strike perfected the parry system because they realized that parrying was an offensive technique, not defensive

Ryu doing hadoken makes his whole clothes wavy, something you will never see in 3D models. just like how Kim's pants smoothly move in KoF XIII and they could never make them act the same in his 3D model in later games

    SF3 is what truly defined the gameplay:
    Parries, dizzy meters, EX specials, and super jumps is what the previous SF games were missing.

      I feel like people tend to forget that this was considered a flop for capcom at the time.
      Now its Revered to one of the best fighting games by most.

    SF3 Vanilla Parry had a directional command where you'd like to be after you parry. This should've been included in 3rd Strike but in a reduced level so the velocity you fly in will be just right for offenses or defenses, not like the airplane velocity we're seeing here.

    One of these days I wish more people would check out the Bounce Mechanics in Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus. You can turn them on in the Extra Menu that can be unlocked.

      @@MonsieurMaouji If you've ever played Hokuto no Ken (Fist of the North Star Retsuden), you know that bouncing a character on the ground like a Basketball was a ridiculous gimmick for flashy combos even though it technically wasn't supposed to exist in the game. GGXXAC lets you adjust the ground bounce mechanics in the Extra Menu so that when you cause a knockdown, the character will bounce on the ground and you can "dribble" them.

    Never played the new generation. it was only in an arcade from mine across the bridge 30 miles away, I had no car. I wasnt walking all day to have a machine to eat my quarters. But knowing this now, I kinda wish I could have experienced it. Seems like it would have been fun.

    Soul calibur 6 is TRASH , compared to 1 & 2, because they neutered the weapon parries in the fighting system. Parrying in both SC and SF3 was both anti-corner trap move, and it was essentially a built-in combo breaker. When parrying was removed from both SF and SC , corner traps became a problem again

    3rd strike parries got it right, because to me the whole point of parrying usually is to get back on some nasty punishes. If you're flying on the otherside or if time slows down for your reset, you're not getting that punishment on some cases.

    That Daigo's Ken parry of Chun Li's ultimate was special because it was harder to execute and many did thought that it was impossible back then. After that legendary moment, Nintendo's next Street Fighter releases made parrying way way way way way way easier, that come back victories from those types of parries have become a thousand times more common.

    Hmmm, I like the push bounce in air parry and the standing and crouching parry part but not the bounce part. It could create some new combos but could ruin some of the craziest ones from 3rd strike I've witnessed

    It’s one of my least favorite mechanics in a fighting game of all time. It completely invalidates zoning and most projectiles and makes the game basically rush down the game.
    You can play Chun Li who’s rush down. Or Akuma who’s rush down and set play. Or Ken who’s balanced with a focus on rush down. Or Yun who’s rush down. Or you can pick someone who’s not really viable.
    One of the worst characters in the game is remy who’s a zoner.

      A reversal in SF is a move that's done the exact frame you return to neutral, usually after getting up from a knockdown or out of blockstun.
