2023 was predicted to be a great year for me going into it because it happened to be the 10 year anniversary of my Star Stable journey! And you all made that possible for me, every dream from my childhood was accomplished last year thanks to you guys. ♡

Welcome to my channel, my name is Kitti Spiderweb and I make documentaries regarding the history of Star Stable Online. I research deep into the archives of the beloved horse game, and even draw from my own 10 years of experience with Star Stable Online.
History and nostalgia is not all that drives my channel, but to also give a critical opinion from a veteran's perspective on how Star Stable may have failed their community.
My videos are to give aid for those who feel frustrated with the modern game, as we are one of the same.

Its the fact that the Christmas side quests take longer than the main story quests...
OMG And the fact that the Christmas quests were basically seasonal? They did not have to put so much effort into a storyline that appears for four weeks only but they did anyway, to ensure we had a great holiday on our favorite game. ♡ I wish this type of unconditional love & effort was displayed more often in the modern game )': Thank you for your lovely comment.♡
Aww, I wish they had a retro version of the game for old players to re-experience the nostalgia and newer players to experience the old sso with old music,sound effects, graphics,story, but that will never happen… I love your documentary bc it takes me back ❤
I feel like another game (not a horse game) had that. It was próba club penguin.
With the boycott fiasco and Star stable basically having a lawsuit at their doorstep i needed one of your videos to relax. ♥
What's crazy to me is that whenever I had a bad day in the real world I use to turn to SSO to escape, and recently SSO has been the one to create the negative energy in my life... I have a lot of thoughts surrounding the recent controversy and hopefully I can find a way to explain my thought process without adding fuel to the fire! :'D Thank you so much for your comment, I literally laughed out loud! xD ♡

@@shingibanggibboongbbongbanggibecause sso did A/B testing. So they offered a cheaper lifetime star rider deal, and it advertised it with all the normal perks of regular lifetime star rider, so people bought it. Yet when they got it, they didnt get one of the perks that was advertised, the weekly allowance. When they emailed sso, they said that they were doing testing and that the buyer should’ve read the deal more closely. So they basically just scammed a bunch of people. And people are also mad about the late star coin code at christmas, and these two have caused a boycott.
i just don’t get why sso always has to make these festival maps like the winter village etc instead of having quests in jorvik. except for steve’s and now hollow woods, everywhere else are rarely to no players seen (at least on my server) and it’s so sad :( feels like all those great places on jorvik are being more and more forgotten about..

I am so glad you mentioned this because I completely agree! I'm no longer fond of off-map areas like Galloper's Keep, the Cloud Kingdom and the Winter Village... it may help the game run smoother in some aspects but for me it completely defeats the purpose of holidays in Star Stable!
It is upsetting how much of a ghost town Jorvik becomes during the events, and even after events... I have friends who cannot remember the last time they were in places like Mistfall, Epona, Golden Hills...
I'm glad that this year the developers did increase decorations around Jorvik! Which I hope is a step in the right direction, maybe next year we will get holiday quests in Jorvik. =) Thank you so much for your support!! ♡
One thing I noticed is that sso no longer makes those little illustrations for quest items in your backpack, it may seem like a minor change, but it was those little details that added charm to the game, now quests are just "ride to this place, click your mouse a couple of times and you're done👍". Btw great work on the video💕
Exactly! They just made us collect winter magic or whatever for daysss that didn’t give us much of a reward, and setting up Jorvik to prepare for holidays is something I REALLY miss. I hope they build up their quest writing team, because no one’s happy with the quest situation rn.
I completely agree with you!! I appreciate the effort in introducing something new like the Winter Crystal this year, albeit a recycled concept from the Hollow Woods, but endlessly grinding for a reward that won't mean that much to me in a few weeks does NOT put me into the holiday spirit!!
They do have some quests within the Winter Festival, but they take minutes to complete and more often than not have nothing to do with the actual holiday. Yeti hunting with characters who I don't even know the names of is just an excuse to kill some time or collect winter tokens. I don't actively seek out these quests, it is not something I look forward to every year in particular...
The old Christmas preparation quests meant a lot to me because we had the opportunity to help out a wide variety of characters from all over Jorvik, characters we have established a connection with through other permanent story quests. It gave me a sense of unity on the island, I could sit there for hours completing these quests and be starving for more when I've completed them all for the week.
Apologies for the rant! I am just so passionate about the old storytelling around Christmas, because who would've thought to write Christmas cards with the Vet or help Felicity build a sled for Andy? So immersive. ♡ Thank you for your lovely comment!! :'D
@@helIokitti Yes absolutely!!! They barely put any effort into the quests nowadays so they can move onto the part of the holiday that’ll get them more profit. It’s sad to see honestly, and the grindings exhausting too. I just gave up because I knew it wouldn’t get me anything of value. SSO need to take some notes from the early days… also I enjoyed reading the rant HAHA I love hearing other people’s opinions on SSO !

I had no intention of completing the Winter Crystal from the beginning because of how long it was originally going to take, whenever I have time to kill though... I do find myself mindlessly wandering around collecting the snowflakes.
Just because I have nothing better to do, not aiming for any sort of reward or anything because quite honestly it just isn't worth it!
I would love if these old questlines would become resurfaced and made public in the new SSO team's eyes, especially with how much the community wants engaging Christmas quests nowadays! Maybe it will spark some inspiration? ♡ Thank you so much for your amazing insight
@@helIokitti I really hope they do incorporate some more interesting quests that hold some value! I’d definitely play more during the holidays if I knew there were some exciting quests waiting for me :) and np LOL u made so many good points!
one thing i always notice when watching ur documentaries is how the horses seemed to be so much faster?? i love it and i miss it
OMG I totally notice that too!! Personally, throughout the years I believe they have made the horse riding mechanics a bit wonkier and I can see how that could make a horse seem slower. I also like how crucial timing was when jumping back in the old days, as the riding mechanics were a little less forgiving than they are nowadays. =) Thank you so much for your insightful comment! ♡
I really hope Sso makes engaging quests again. The yeti quest was something but it felt like the story didn’t matter because it felt very unfinished. I miss putting up Christmas and having meaningful quests. I also miss the star coins they gave us like 3 times a year. I just didn’t realize how much the old sso team cared about the game I was too for young. I loved the mystery of the game and now we meet the soul riders at the very beginning and it feels a little off.
Back then you had to put real efford in the quests and i loved it.
I hate that sso keeps making everything simple. Like taking care of your horse, which was only possible back then at the stables.. or waiting for the bus to go to the shopping center.. even the shopping back then made so much fun, looking everywhere for the right pieces that match color 😢 the vibes today are nothing compared to the vibes sso gave around 2013 😢 the hype when the fresians were released, unlocking Golden Hills, building the bridge to Jarla.. i loved every single update back then..😢
there was such a sense of community! we had to interact with the towns people and got to learn more abt their personalities etc. with the new team i’m sad to say i doubt we will ever get a similar experience again. I feel super bad for the little kids that play sso now. the game is all about currency not focused at all on the quests. especially if it’s not a main quest
i miss the small daily quests the most. espc. flying over jarlaheim and knitting with the old lady. loved to do these..

Oh this was a trip down memory lane- albeit I wasn’t playing since 2011/2012, I was able to participate in my first Star Stable Christmas two years later, and I still remember the magic I felt as I looked upon the completed Christmas tree, or how utterly in awe I was as we got to ride our own sleigh over the roofs of Jarlaheim. It feels so far away now, but I miss it so much. It truly felt like a holiday. I did the quests because they were fun and made me feel like I was part of something bigger, not because I dread missing out on spare items and barely can get myself to even complete a quest once, no matter how short they are. As the winter village was first introduced, it was still great! It was the only place that we had snow in that year, which made it special, and we still had quests helping out all the little guys that were fun and didn’t take one minute to complete, just to do them each day every day. If I remember correctly, we also still had at least a few of the old quests, which made Jorvik feel alive as well. Now? We have snow in Jorvik, which basically takes away the purpose of the village, and the quests are boring and tedious with no engaging story or fun snippets about know characters. I just feel like Star Stable has lost its love. The developers don’t write quests anymore so players can enjoy them, they write them so they can say they gave something. The frequency of horses is increasing, the content decreasing. It just doesn’t feel like a rpg anymore- it feels like a collectors game. Collect horses, collect lights, collect clothes. It is boring, and I barely ever get onto the game anymore, not because I hate it, but because I miss the feelings I had back them so much I can barely stand being online anymore. It was my childhood, it was such a beauty. Such love being shared by thousands across countries as you played and watched others play. All ruined, because of greed.
I’m sorry this turned into a bit of a rant, but every time I watch videos of "the old times“ it almost feels like I have lost something loved. No way to revisit it but to look at old recordings and in memory.

I'm someone who's been playing SSO since literally the beginning and I'm playing to this day in my free time, even though I'll soon be 22. 😁 Honestly, it's my comfort game and from now on, your channel is my comfort place too. ❤ I love how softly you speak (you sound like twilight sparkle from my little pony, it's so cute 🥰) and how nostalgic are your videos. I'm pretty sad, that the game lost some magic throughout the years but I'm glad I can watch your videos and remember how beautiful it was. Thank you. 💕

Watching this in the middle of summer. I joined 3 years ago when the game was still mostly like the old one, I could see the old Silverglade village before the makeover for a few weeks. The game was 10 years old back then. I thought I'll never ever catch up as 10 years worth of content is so much that you can play all day long and never see when it ends. I was wrong... The main quest took about 3 months and the side quests with reputation requirements (including soul riding) about 3 more. I was completely finished before the Christmas event. I was looking forward to it as someone told me it's fun and there are a lot to do... Well, Winter Village came in and it was completely empty! No quest, no race, not any activity at all... I was so disappointed. And I was stuck on level 20 while many people were 21-23. This only means that there were months worth of content that no longer available for us. I never understood why they do that. Yeah, add new content so it won't be boring but never remove any so those who want could enjoy it. Yeah, it might be too much eventually but the choice is up to the players what they want to do.
Thank you, this video has brought me so much joy. I'd pay the price higher than the current game costs to play old SSO because of nostalgia and its warm atmosphere

I did appreciate the couple holiday themed quests outside of the winter village this year, I just wish they had more holiday themed stuff outside of the winter village. Thank you for the video!! I played the game when I was younger but not very much, so it’s nice to learn about these celebrations that were in the game :) hopefully in the future some of these quests will make a return. Although I tend to be a bit overly optimistic with this stuff, lol.
What an amazing video! Again making me wish that I played in the old days. The events nowadays are just boring, grindy and mostly recycled cash grabs, while it seems that they used to be enjoyable, original festivities that actually represented the holiday in question. All the while having questlines that are even more exciting than some story quests these days. No hate to the star stable team, they've done a good job at making the game better recently, but the quest and event teams could really use some refurbishing.

I wish I had been around for SSO’S old days. Not only r they having a big downfall; but they r also making the quests less and less enjoyable. But I’m kind of on 2 sides regarding the winter magic. It’s kind of good because it gives u something to do in the 5 weeks of the event. But it’s also a little not good because some players r really busy irl or busy in game with their club or friends or something. I wish that I myself had experienced these good old times when SSO was actually kind to their community and made quests that everyone would enjoy. Now u can see they r clearly lazy. The intro quests haven’t changed, the yeti quests haven’t changed AND u get the exact same rewards as last year. We also had to force them to give us sc. Thank goodness they listened. But they used to give so much free gifts when the game was young. Now all they do is recolour items, copy paste messages to players and reuse rewards and quests. And not only do they reuse stuff and not give ANYTHING free anymore, but they also don’t really give good chats and reasoning on their website. I remember seeing a skit about a player tricking another player that they were going to give them a free horse. Then the kid learnt a lesson. Also I see conversations on Reddit better than SSO themselves. Yet there’s nothing from the ACTUAL company like that. They also never mention if it’s the last time of an event. For example Valentine’s Day, Easter and the yearly iceberg that came with seal pets that cost 💲 5️⃣0️⃣ sc!!! Merry Christmas, Star Stupid.

there is a game you can download that created 2017 sso and you can play the old game with quests, rep, horses, sr, sc, etc!

honestly don't understand why they removed all these quests over the years. i would take these over the snowflake collection any day hah, they seem to make jorvik feel more alive! crossing my fingers we'll get something similiar next christmas. we do have those northern light activities, but a lot of them don't feel very organic, maybe except for james' scamming antics (lol) and the story telling sit-downs with all the pillows and stuff.
if only they just kept these quests in the game and remained the same :(. nobody really minds that theyre "old".
