VloĆŸit
- Äas pĆidĂĄn 17. 04. 2023
- Join us on a journey of culture and cuisine as we experience Iftar for the first time in Kuala Lumpur with our local Malaysian friend. Ramadan is a special time of year where the Muslim community fasts from sunrise to sunset and Iftar is the meal that breaks the fast each day. We've always been curious about this traditional meal and the unique flavours that come with it and our trip to KL gave us the perfect opportunity to finally try it out. In this video we'll take you along with us as we explore and sample various dishes such as the classic and delicious Nasi Lemak, Kueh, Roti Jala with Kare Ayam (Chicken Curry), Pengat Pisang, Soto Ayam and many more. Along the way we'll share our thoughts and first impressions of the food and the Iftar experience as a whole as we break the fast at this HUGE Ramadan buffet. Come along with us and let's discover the magic of Iftar with the locals in Kuala Lumpur.

@@chefsofsweden absolutely correct. So many delicious foods how can we tahan (cannot control) especially the local kueh. My favorite tapioca kueh. (Just kidding) saw your video how you cook and break fast with orphanage children. That's very kind of you guys. More blessings
I have a friend getting married in Malaysia next year and I am so excited to go back and eat more food there!
Oh gosh whose foot you going to eat?
â@@shahidaismail5892 haiyaaaađđđ
â@@shahidaismail5892 đ
Foot? Okay gotcha. :)
Oh my,a foot you said,i will just assumed that it's a special delicacy the chef created specially for the First Iftar.
The yellow cake you eat is made from tapioca, that's why it is quite sticky because of its starch. The cucur kodok is made by crushing ripen bananas. The seri muka is made from glutinous rice and pandan custard. I am really glad you enjoyed the food. Do try more afterwards.
Thanks for the info!
That is a Malaysian culture especially the Malay & Bumiputera invite guest.
Malaysian Hospitality at itâs BEST!! đ kudos to Bro Saeed (i hope I got it right), for offering the BEST of Malaysia to our guest & the world đđ
So food jealous right now!!! What a spread. You guys are so lucky! Happy Travels
Ahh i remember the ikan bilis anchovies, Olivia favorite đ
The guy ( saif?) has a very nice accent when he speaks. Very calm and clear. Feature him more! đ
that fish dish you see is not a "curry" but a type of stew. Most real traditional Malay dish are not curry but a kind of stew that we call Gulai. But because when the British came here they were used to Indian curry and they saw that the Malay dish have some similarity or look like Indian curry so they end up calling all dish like that as curry when in reality the way we cook it and the spices that we used are totally different...our "curry" or stew are more a like to Thai style dish with a lot more coconut cream and fresh spices instead of dried spices like in Indian curry. So in Malaysia we tend to differentiate between Indian style curry and Malays style curry.
Thank you for the interesting insight on Malay food!
Actually, we also eat/dip Roti Jala(Net/Lace Roti) with Durian Gravy(Durian flesh, coconut palm sugar, coconut milk & pandan leaf), besides curry gravy... And the small cute lime is called Calamansi(Kasturi in Malay) Lime(Limau)... Laksa Johor use Spaghetti as it noodles & gravy similar to Malay style curry with fish flesh...
You've hit jackpot.
This is as authentic as it gets.
As a malay. All Kuih is my favourite. đ€©đ€©đ€©đ€©đđđ
nice! finally you guys get to eat a well prepared Malaysian cuisine for Iftar. It's looks so delicious guys! enjoy!
Hope both of you get invited to EID Mubarak celebration too.
Hi again guys... Now that Ramadan is nearing its end, you should head to KL and attend the Hari Raya open house at the palace. It'll be the grand finale with a bang. There'll be a lot of people but hopefully, the whole experience out of it will be a thing to remember. To avoid long queues, go at around 3pm. If you want to be more adventurous, go to Kampung Baru on raya day and just drop by any house that you see has some people in it and wish them "Selamat Hari Raya". 99.99% you will be invited in. The open house concept that we subscribed to will almost guarantee that. Have fun!
you guys inspire so many people trying to go outside their comfort zone you have no idea.. hell yeah brother!! go to south korea!!!
Thanks so much, it's great to hear that! We would love to go there at some point đ

the the prophetic and right way to break the fast is just by having some dates and water with something naturally sweet like honey...we shouldn't eat excessively like it some kind of festival đ .. gorging on food like there's no tomorrow
Judgemental person
posh place
For buffet if they serve seafood and lamb, just eat seafood and lamb only without rice.
haha yeah rice or noodle will make us full fast!
Good tip đ
More worth it
Too bad this year no open house by pm anwar at putrajaya.
She said "made with only brown sugar"
It should be "made with brown sugar instead of white sugar"
Not carrot but pumpkin in that dessert (pengat)
The place look great

Hopefully you guys enjoy your stay in Malaysia especially with those hundreds varieties of Malay cuisines. Malaysia Boleh đ đ đ· â€ïž

How was entering Malaysia? I read that they still have covid entry requirements.
No requirements
A lot of the food is very close to indian food
There's some disputes the origins of popiah whether it's of Chinese or Malay
Washi ibn Harb reported: They said, âO Messenger of Allah, we eat but we are not filled.â The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, âPerhaps you eat separately?â They said yes. The Prophet said, âEat your meals together and mention the name of Allah over it, for you will be blessed in it.â
Sunan Abu Dawud 3764

We can still eat meat etc. After having dates.
@@JesusisaMuslim the point is don't over eating in the month of ramadan..what people are doing here in Malaysia when it's the month of ramadan they consumed more food and focused more on food..and the food consumed aren't healthy at all.. junk food full of sugar, remember..junk food will produce junk mind
There are too many delicious foods in Malaysia. I don'tđ know which one to eat.
No to buffet đą
I love Mario. His always enjoying the foods. But not Oliver. Typical British. Nothing but just fish & chips.
