First Time Trying Malaysian Tea & Roti Canai with a Local
VloĆŸit
- Äas pĆidĂĄn 4. 07. 2024
- Just an hour outside of Kuala Lumpur city in Malaysia is a town called Klang where we were invited by a local man to go on a Malaysian food tour. We started our day off with the famous Bah Kut Teh known as 'pork ribs tea' a famous stew that originates in Klang. Then we tried some local street food by Port Klang and ended the day with our first time trying the Malaysian tea known as Teh Tarik, which means 'pulled tea', alongside a delicious Roti Canai and Thosai served in a local mamak restaurant called Jai Hinds. But that wasn't even the best part, we were served our Teh Tarik by a ROBOT!

That uncle is one generous dude! God bless you and thank you, Klang Uncle, for showcasing our one-of-a-kind Malaysian hospitality to this British duo! đđđȘâș
Amazing content, being an Egyptian Malaysian who grew up here. I would say we are such a diverse country and there is so many different places you could go to and try various different food across Malaysia
Dude make egypt food tutorials
Rare dude
I would in the future
Hi Egyptian friend, I am a MALAYSIAN.. I love Egypt too is my bucket list vacation to travel because of Pyramids
Iâve only been to Egypt since I was very young but my father is there right now for business purposes and he told me itâs a great place to visit, he promised to take me there again in the future.
Betul tu
Well adviced. Dont be a litter bugs. Malaysians should be clean.
Agreed

Uncle Jimmyâs hospitality is whole new level! đđœđđœ
Teh tarik and roti canai are popular breakfast of Malaysians, they can be found almost everywhere in Malaysia
we can see why đ
Very Good Malaysian Hospitality Uncle Jimmy... More U give.. sure more U get... đ
the hospitality of malaysia...now your subscriber are growing up...before come to malaysia 19k subscriber now 26k subscriber...please enjoy and explore more place in malaysia. malaysia have 14 state you just 1% of malaysia
CZcamsrs that promote Malaysia get promoted immediately. Lol
we look forward to exploring more! đ
Very generous gentleman Jimmy for bringing you around.... myself smiling to see it... chutney is made of coconut, chili and some nuts. Creamy tastes...
Terbaiklah Uncle Jimmy!
Btw that tosai / dosa as you've already figured out, you've had it before. 4 different sauces/dipping is the most I've seen but the non-optional one would be chutney. The one you had before was mint chutney (the green colored, minty one). This one is what they call tomato chutney, orange-ish red color. The plain coconut chutney is white in color.
Teh tarik..national treasure
Klang is my home town, welcome to Klang Malaysia, I wish you have a great journey together, very sad I'm not around to welcome you guys, however please return again and never give up to our beautiful Malaysia....and thanks Jimmy for welcoming our guest.
Thank you đ
Crispy Tosei + coconut chutney = heaven! Nom nom nom.... hehehe...
Nice Uncle Jimmy! You just show Mario & Olivia how we Malaysian spend our time Jalan-jalan Cari Makan around local diners đ
Your friend Jimmy knows his food in Klang. You're finally eating like a local. Lol!đđ
What an amazing guy Jimmy turned out to be with his wonderful smile. Come to that the food looked out of this world too. đđđ
he's a great man with a big heart! We had a lovely day with him đ
Mario & Olivia are so blessed with the generosity of Jimmy hospitality. You guys were in good hands.
Guys, I really like your approach to travel. love the simplicity no pretensions style. you are going to make it big, but just try not to forget the humble beginnings. it just wouldn't be it anymore. and by all means I hope you get as many endorsements as possible. Travel certainly isn't free. Just stick to your original formula as long as you can. Thanks and enjoy !!
Thanks man, we really appreciate that. That is the goal, we are always trying to stay true to ourselves. CZcams is already full of pretentious stuff, it doesn't need us adding more!
Next time would love to watch u guys order in Malay: "teh tarik satu", "roti canai satu"đ Have u guys tried Satay? I recommend u go to Rumah Sate RONO at Bandar Kajang, they also use robot to serve customers đ
Thanks for the tip, good to know the order you say it in, we would have said the number first otherwise đ will try to start using the language more as we learn!
@@TravelsonToast yeah, english sentences when u translate it in Malay its kinda backward đ
But even if u say the number first people here will understand...
The food looks amazing guys! Here in Korea, I noticed there are a few robot-like self-serve places popping up where there is no staff. A lot of ice cream shops are like this where you just go in, take what you want, scan it, pay, and go. Not sure what this all means about the future of humanity, but it's very futuristic! lol
This is a good recco âđŒ
thanks a lot uncle Jimmy for your great entertain & hospitality ..đđđđđđđâ€â€
I miss south Asia. Hopefully I can go back soon
Visit malaysia.. Amezing.. đ
south east, not south
southeast
Amazing video as usual. Thank you for sharing.
Glad you finished your roti. No wastage.
HahahaâŠu two are so cute and funny!âŠiâve seen many videos of tourists come to Msia and record the way the teh tarik being pulled, but never heard the kind of remarks Olivia made, âŠâput your mouth and catch the teaââŠhahaha, very funny Olivia đđâŠand when Mario said, if he did it the tea would go all over the places, it reminds me of one Korean guy channel named âChu BroââŠhe did it and that is exactly happened to him and all over his faceâŠCheck out his video on teh tarik..youâll definitely be treated for some hard good laughsâŠanyway, happy exploring more of Malaysia guys!âïž
hahaha glad you enjoy the vids, thanks!
You guys are on fire, supercharged!đ
That was lots of fun! Such a nice guy ya ran into to take you out and show you around. Great video guys!đđ
Uncle is Malaysia hero
This is what we love to see in traveler's vlog, explore and mingle with locals, the best when you met a good local that know his town well, thank you Mr. Jimmy for showing our Klang/Port Klang to them, its rare to see traveler touring our town nowadays. Back in the day, Port Klang has so many activities, boats jetty to local island nearby to pulau lumut, pulau ketam, boats terminals for people travelling to sumatera. When tourist ship or Navy ship docking on the port, we can see lots of sailors, tourists, Navy, going to town. Sad to see the `quiet' & `lonely' Port Klang today.
It's a shame to hear it's not as busy anymore!
jimmy is so fatherly
Nice... Tq gaisss!... Love u channel. Tq welcome my country!..

Welcome to my hometown.
I dont know how you met uncle jimmy but he's so sweet. Mario and olivia too, you guys are so sweet. Great video though.
Good content. Keep it up. Do visit Penang one of the best state in Malaysia.
Here now!
Just sharing, if you have finished your plain curry/dhal/chutney that comes with your roti/flatbread/dhosai, you can always ask for a second serving of it for free. Unless if it comes with a chunk of meat/fish/chicken with it. The same goes for broth/plain soup and/or sauces that comes with your chicken rice, noodles etc. You can even ask for a free additional serving of curry/sambal that comes with your nasi lemak too. Just ask the waiter/seller and I'm sure they'd be much obliged to fulfill your request. Bon appetit!
oh wow, amazing, thanks! we've eaten this dish so many times since and never thought to ask for more so that's good to know!
The pleasure is all mine mate. Enjoy your stay here. đ€
if you live in Malaysia 20 years from now you will know everything about Malaysia đČđŸđČđŸ
Enjoy your time in Malaysiaâ€đ
Thank you đ
One reason we tarik the tea/coffee/milo or any hot drink is to cool down the hot drink. Time to time it become a signature drink n do some improvisation on and it become an art of pulling drink
Malaysia , welcomes you both, please enjoy our happy food and friendly people, you are sure to put on extra weight at the end of your journey.
Laidback and very welcoming , our hospitality.
Thank you đ
Thereâs a lot of great places out of KL that you should visit in Malaysia that you can learn our culture, try out our best traditional foods while having a shortvacay, the places such as - Bandaraya Melaka, Ipoh, Taiping, Penang, Langkawi Island, Kuala Terengganu. I know as a backpacker, maybe it will exceed your budget. But if you willing too, just give a shot ! đ€đ» Welcome to Malaysia !
We look forward to explore!

Thank you for visiting klang!
You should try rojak klang if you're visiting again :))
@@YDYoshi you talking bout the botak tauke in bukit tinggi?
Come to Kota Kinabalu, there are many best places
I remember the first time I experienced a robot waiter in Malaysia was in Kuantan at a Steamboat place at the Kuantan City Mall. I distinctly remember it was cat themed, named bella, and meowed and nya(d?).
Try roti Pisang, roti sardin, roti telur, roti tisu(kayu), roti bom(PETRONAS Taman permata), roti Milo, roti Milo(kayu)
Robot servers for restaurants have started to be used in several restaurants across the country since the advent of Covid19.
You could hv dedicated one whole video on various types of roti canai if u really wish to explore
since like 5-10 years ago i think it is cheaper to cross to sumatera or other part of indonesia by plane, but indonesia is huge so some of migrant worker still do like to cross by ferry/boat if they live near coastal town/cities since most airport from KLIA to Sumatera is far away from the seaside
Thanks for the info đ
Welcome to Malaysia.

You should try Roti Tisu next! It is a unique kind of roti canai where it will be shaped as a tall cone and it is very crunchy! I hope you read my comment!
Sounds good, will give it a go!
