That's a pretty impressive repair you done on the floor. The frame turned out pretty good too. I think we're all going to be impressed with the finished product. Don't sell yourself short Mike. You've got a knack for that kind of work.
*did
@@SeanONeill13 he finished the task, DONE!
Appreciate you pushing through those times where you have lost motivation. To us, it's 30 minutes of nonstop excitement. To you, it's 30 hours of monotony.
Your video content and your skill set are top notch. Love it.
DP, described you as very shy when you first started YT. I now watch your video's not only for the content but for the comedy and self criticism, very clever.
Mike I worked on aircraft for 35 years along with cars, trucks ,lawn equipment for myself with a complete house Reno and when you get into big projects you have to divide the project into tasks. On large aircraft with the task system you do a job sign it off and move onto the next and not look at the whole project except for the next task. When I did my house looking at the whole project at once you can be over whelmed and have a panic attack, take a part of the project complete it pat yourself on the back and move on.
That chassis and cab floor looks so good, it's a credit to all the hard work that you've put in. Think when it's finished it's going to look so good, like the 555 you're never going to replace it, it will have at least 30 years plus of working life left. 👍
I fully understand the "rut", that's why I have three or four projects going on at the same time. When I get frustrated at one, I switch back to another. Projects don't get done as fast, but it keeps me from getting frustrated. The frame and cab look great - can't wait to see what you do in the engine bay!
So much patience. The thought of spending all day wire wheeling and rubbing down every square inch of the bottom of a truck seems like torture to me.
Keep going, Captain!
Mike, it's time to turn this dump truck build into the trade-up series. Since Dirt Perfect is selling Lt Dan, it would be the perfect opportunity/upgrade/next replacement for your needs! I know, another DP hand-me-down and budget/smudge it! Maybe he will give you the derby discount!😂😂😂 BtW, take the hood off the cab. It will be much easier to maneuver, plus nicer when dropping the engine back in!
I absolutely love the progress that you're making on that dump truck that you're making. I can hardly wait until the very next video.😊 Thanks for sharing! 😊
Captain is qualified to use the PROFESSIONAL paint, I'm having trouble finding the Beginners paint.
Getting out of the rut is usually the step I’m stuck on. Maybe I’m just lazy. 🤣😂
The truck restoration is coming along great and your floor repairs look very solid. It’s a good idea that you did all the seem sealer with all those overlapping joints it would have held dirt causing it to rust again.
Your videos are never boring, Captain!! The amount of work you are putting into this build just blows my mind. It will all be worth it in the end, and you will be SO proud of it. We will be proud of you, too. Hopefully, if people would start clicking the Thumbs Up button, and commenting, your Channel will be able to grow a lot faster because it will be recommended by CZcams more, and that will mean more videos for US, and more $$$ for you. Then, if you still want a new truck, you can buy one. Although, this one's going to last for another 30 years, or more. GREAT JOB!!!!!
Rome wasn't built in a day. This truck build is progressing a day at a time. Building from the bottom to the top. Your doing just fine Captain
People who say you should have bought a truck doesn't know the satisfaction of seeing the finished job
Your voice kept reminding me of someone and it wasn't until you sat in the chair and painted the frame that it hit me. You sound just like Bob Ross. 😂
I was thinking he sounded like an automotive Mr Rodgers 😅😊
Nice to see the "Chair-man" From the Kleeman motor paint division is not afraid to get his fingers dirty.
Even after the video was finished I just kept watching. Everything was so pretty. 😂
Well as of DPs live last night where he announced Lt Dan is for sale.....(however noble the plan for the proceeds). You are now OFFICIALLY my only chance to see a Dump Truck restored in a small southern Indiana river front community by a guy named Mike.......I hope you understand the gravity of the situation and see this project to fruition.....
great progress Mike don't get to discourage about the boring part of the work you're coming to the fun stuff soon, great video 👏👏👏👏👏👌👌👌👌👌👍👍👍👍
The ole good enough one day...drives you nuts the next. Been there, done that, on nearly ever project I have ever done lol.
If it's good enough for you, then it's good enough for me. Well done Mike, you are the one who has to live with what you've done. Hope you are, as you said "fired up", then don't worry what anyone else tells you. They are not the ones who own the vehicle, you are!!! If they want a different colour or paint company used, tell them to buy their own vehicle and do that the way THEY want. Then you can gripe at them, 'cos they didn't do it right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bye from UK.
Definitely understand the low motivation moments, keep pushing yourself, looking forward to seeing the results
Looks good, I get the hitting the “motivation wall” I am there right now with reorganizing my small shop, watching you get thru that project one step at a time helps me stay with it, the truck is going to be awesome once it’s done, stay the course, its one step at a time, with a once and done (as much as possible) attitude. Thanks for the update, appreciate your time and effort on videoing and sharing, looking forward to the next video.
You won't need no stinkin new truck in a few years! This is going to be a beast and a beautiful one at that! Great work!
Captain Kleeman is the new Bob Ross!!
Looking good Mike. Glad you did the seam seal on the underside too. This thing is going to be too nice for you. Lol
project creep can be frustrating but in the end the final results worth it. the dump truck is afterall a dump truck, its going get used. with all the work youve put in Capt, ole girl oughta serve you well for awhile. no glass was broken in the process 😄
Another enjoyable "cup of coffee" (okay, two cups) video, thanks and take care!
If you have never used a needle scalier before, you should go to Harbor Freight and get you one. They are amazing for cleaning around bolts and brackets. I use them all the time. They are even good for cleaning slag off of stick welds. I love mine.
I can just feel your pure enjoyment with this progress! Congrats! Thanks for sharing your journey. Blessings.
Great job Mike. What an awesome transformation!
Frame & bottom of cab turned out really good.
good morning i hope everyone has a great day
Notification crew represent! 😆
Great to see you so excited at this point in the project is all looking great Bud keep it going nice work Captain 👍👋🇨🇦
Another fine addition to the Kleeman Khronicles and I see where you've now opened a new business on the compound.....Kleeman Paint and Body Shop. You're making good progress on the truckster...should be a worthy addition to the Kleeman fleet of vehicles. As always....great channel....great content.
Some really top notch "shade tree" work considering there are no leaves on the trees right now. Looking real good there, Captain.
You are going to have this truck almost as good as new when you are done.
Not everyday I see a frame off resto on a dump truck. Cool stuff, keep going man.
I admire willingness to tear into projects and learn as you go. And you do it on a pretty tight budget. Keep up the good work! You are awesome.
Good Morning! i Love watching your Awesome videos. Awesome project on building You Dump Truck. have a Blessed and Safe day! :)
Your truck cab floorpan is looking great. You're doing a fine job in removing the rust and painting it on the top and bottom. The frame is looking great too. Thanks for taking us along as you recondition your truck. I always enjoy your videos - keep them coming. (In my opinion, the outtakes don't need to be special.)
Kleeman, out in the woods piecing junk together with more care and attention to detail than some actual vehicle build shops or CZcams channels do on SEMA builds. I completely understand the frustration of the rut and not getting things done, been working on the same truck for fifteen years. Course part of that is because all that is left is the stuff I can't afford to do, even by myself.
Mike, you put in the boring work and now you are on a roll getting the frame and cab floor rustproofed and painted. Be motivated as you push ahead. Blessings to you.
Thanks Mike, couldn't comment for a while I was in YT jail. Keep up the great content. I like the personal stories you sometimes throw in.
I think your work is far far better than you realise Mike, you should be proud of your achievements as you put in so much effort on all of your projects ( personally I’ve no idea how you fit them all in ) You thoroughly deserve all of your successes and your channels are definitely favourites of mine. Keep doing what you do please , best wishes to you and yours, from Britain 👍🇬🇧🇺🇸
That freaking floor looks new! It's totally awesome! If the backhoe comes out half as good, just wowza!
You hit the nail on the head at the 6:15 mark! I thought I was the only one that felt this way.
You are a smart worker when it comes to making things work with what you got to work with. I hope that makes sense. I'm stating this as a compliment. Not trying to be sarcastic, but paying a compliment where a compliment is due. Been a subscriber to both(?) of your channels for about 2 years now. Never miss an episode. Keep up the good work!
Been around since 1908 Captain!! I used to live in Lincoln until 2 years ago.....always had great products from them!!!
Good to hear!
Yet another inspiring video from the master of ingenuity. Great job Captain.
"Been there" 18:40 back in the 1980s my dad gave me some paint to finish a motorbike trailer that would hold 3 bikes (built in about 4 hrs). Normally I would have used a paint in the UK called Hammerite, my dad gave me some of his black ??? paint and I sprayed it on with the compressor and proper paint gun. The black paint dried fast so I gave it a fingernail test and it flaked off, there was no adhesion. I had to wire brush the trailer end to end and start again (that took 3hrs of brushing).
One of the lads in the shop had a dog that always went home the colour of what we were spray painting ;-) The dog would always get in the way, I do think he was always trying to help.
Safety in our shop -we did not have any safety gear just a shout "Watch Out" that was it. NO hats, gloves, glasses, masks, boots just a pair of tweezers to pull bits out of your eyeball and duct tape to stop blood making the steel rust.
All the best, I wish I lived closer I would give you a hand.
Frame and cab look great. Can"t wait for whats next. Will be waiting for you next video. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, ideas and videos. Truck is starting to look like a truck again, very impressive. Wishing you and your family the best.
And just like that Bob Ross shows up to paint a happy little captain in his chair into the video 😅😊. And now I have to COMMENT 😮😊.
Seam sealer looks good Mike, I’ve never used it! 👌🏻👍🏻👍🏻 the paint looks good Mike! Yeah, the more everything improves the more motivated you’ll get! Thanks for sharing my friend! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👌🏻👌🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸✌🏻✌🏻🙋🏼
Flashbacks from the movie Red where they go under the hood of the car to get down into John Malkovich’s character’s house. Yep, good old Marvin Boggs, who lived in an underground silo that’s entrance was covered up by an old rusty vehicle, and you entered it through the hood and went down through the engine compartment.
Trust your instincts..YOUVE DONE WHAT AMAZES ME MOST..YOU REJECTED IT CRITICALLY...SND RUBBED IT OUT..
VERY RARE...AND NOTED..! Keep it up
💪
Hi yeah capt. Lol that cab I think won't rust for quite awhile! Ring lining the underside was a great idea! A freind of mine ring lined his whole toy fourrunner
Bob Ross over here. Love it.
Captain, I truly appreciate your honestly with how projects really go both mentally and physically. Your videos have really reinvigorated me, seeing you struggle and push through the same stuff I do has somehow improved my attitude and motivation:) Keep
up the good work.
Great video Mike! Good call on ditching the bed liner! Lee
Yes sir did the same and looked at the finished with pride and a smile ,Well done done thank you for sharing
Mike, great energy, attitude and great work ethic!
The way to overcome the "rut" of a project is to acknowledge and embrace the suck... put your headphones on and get it done. Happens to me every project that involves sanding.
Looking good! And you're practically done - just got to put all the parts on and you'll be ready to go.
Think you explained how many projects start and never get finished. Getting goals done makes you want to get more done, but there can be some parts that feel like they are dragging out and make you loose motivation.
Have had it happen on group projects starts with 3 or 4 friends making something and by the end there is 1 or 2 of us left with the finished item
I love the bomb shelter idea!
It could be like Narnia.... or a Tardis!
Looks great keep going don't quit now great video thanks Mike
Capt it’s looking great. That frame is in great shape. Keep up the good work
Hi Mike. The frame and cab bottom look great! It's going to be a nice truck when you are done. If you wanted to, you could probably thin out that bedliner with acetone to make it flow easier. Maybe try it again on the dump bed when you get to that part.
While the cab is flipped you can do the roof very easily.
hello Mike & it's is Randy and i like yours video is cool & Thanks Mike Friends Randy
Thats lookin pretty good son. Keep Smilin
All that work is paying off, looks sick.
Great job. With all of this experience you will sale right through putting a floor in the 555!
Ospho is a rust remover and it’s a primer coat, about 40 per gallon and this stuff is like water and goes a long way! It dries as a white powder layer and you wipe it off, and you can paint over it or put your own primer over it! I’ve used it a lot and it actually kills the rust, would be nice to spray that bed liner spray on the frame! That would last a long time! Just thinking out loud Mike, I’m cool with whatever is in your budget!
It’s really coming along Mike looks great!!
This thing is really looking good! Great job
Nice work Mike. Your motivation is rubbing off, I need to get my butt in gear on a few projects. 🤣 if only it wasn't 20 degrees right now. Better days are comming though!
It's looking good,I understand the intricacies of working with paint, not easy but worth the time involved.❤
Yes I run into what I call the dead zone where you are progressing but it takes so much time and effort.. I just say to myself this is the hard part that after this things will move along as planned and before you know it. The job gets done just as long as it gets done right.. never short yourself cause it will be the thing that will bite you when you least expect it. I tell myself will it matter 9 years from now? Is it going to define me? Nah, I'm too much of a hard head.. and it's ok when you don't feel like it some days. It's your body telling you to slow the pace and not to get burned out doing something.. think of it as a goal and how it's going to improve your progression on other projects.. and you know that you did it right and it will be sound.. enjoy your work.. and just letting you know I understand and it doesn't get any better the older you get. LoL Good job Captain Keeman.. you get there.. hang in there.. you got this....
Instead of the store bought "undercoat", when I had an old truck I painted the whole thing with roofing tar. I thinned it with gasoline ( the gasoline evaporates) and brushed it on. I called it Tar Baby. You sure are putting a LOT of work into it. I hope it all comes together. I look forward to Monday and Thursday mornings just to see what you get done. bty, it was nice seeing the turkey and chickens again. Got any goats yet?
well alrighty, this project is starting to come together. you have certainly put alot of work into it and i believe it will last longer then the 30 years you project. keep up the great work and video's.
That's a FINE outro! Great work there Captain!
Thanks!
You need to make longer videos im into what you are doing on them.
Keep it up .
Loving this project Mike keep em coming blessings from Shropshire.
Morning Captain, great video as always. I know that it may not be good for content, but listening to music helps me get through monotonous tasks, thus helping me move on to the next step, thus helping the progression move forward. Keep up the great work.
Sure is keeping you hopping, nice work Mike!!💪🤗🇺🇸
That floor looks great. I think you have done a great job, a grinder and paint shows the welder I ain't 👍🏻👍🏻
You are doing a nice job Captain. :)
Yeah, motivation is hard to keep sometimes. I always have the finished vision in mind to try to keep me motivated. I've been working on getting a 96 Thunderbird back on the road and like you say, 30 more "one more things" you really want to move on. I certainly understand.
As always love the content. You have me cracking up at times and on the edge of my seat the rest. Wishing you the best of luck.
Thanks!
Great work! Not going to lie I usually just paint over the light stuff.
looking better every video. This is a great project and it has my interest so much, keep up the good work!
Good job and video. I would recommend mounting the rear axle to make it easier to move around and set the cab on. I would also recommend using white raptor liner on the back of the cab to help with rust prevention under and around the back window
If I ever get a rear axle, I will be sure to mount it lol
When I get stuck on a project I take a day off and go do something fun. Then I figure out what a bite would be on the project and do just that bite and then move onto a different project. Eventually the project gets done and my mood changes. Progress does provide motivation, or at least it does on my diet. 😮
Great job there Mike.
Great video Captain and thank you for it. Just a suggestion bit when you were lifting your cab and the concern about your window. If you use old tires as a landing pad they are rubber and will grip and provide cushion as they will flex abit . Just trying to be helpful. Cheers!😊
Looks amazing Mike awesome work
Enjoying watching this project come together. 👍
