  • I know the decals are from the wrong year, but I really like the tiki logo, sorry Kona purists.
I got this frame from my dad who was on his way to the dump for a neighbour when he stopped by to ask if I wanted it.
Its from 2004 and the bottom bracket was seized pretty tight, though thanks to the magic of editing you cant really tell how bad it was in the video, I'm guessing that's why it was scrap bound.
Splatter was done with a burst oil pen, toothbrush and some Montana Black Lollipop pink.
I topped it off with some Rustolem Clear coat to protect the paint and decals
Paint is Spray.Bike Bays Water blue:

    Decals from H. Lloyd Cycles

Thanks for watching and if you enjoyed the video please like and subscribe for more of the same and part 2 where Ill be building up the frame.

A bolt and washer to hold bottom bracket tool on helps me immensely. I then take an old skewl pipe wrench and cheater bar to it. The pipe wrench I purposely filed the teeth down to make even more duller than it already was. Now it's more like a massive crescent wrench. My beefy spanner wrench took a dump and I stripped out the adjustment screw somehow. I've always wanted to paint a frame however I live in apartment so that's a no go lol.

Yeah, I've seen that with the washer and bolt on the BB tool before. I was frantically looking for something that was long enough and the right diameter.
Thankfully it gave eventually with just my foot putting the pressure down, but it was a serious faf.
I've got a few homemade tools I want to make, including a headset press with washers and a threaded bar.
This is the 4th frame I've painted and the 3rd with spray.bike paint. If you do get a chance to paint a frame, I'd highly recommend them. 👍

@@Adambuildsbikes if I find a steel frame MTB that fits spot on I may have it media blasted and powder coated

You ruined nice original paint. The finish of the respray is really awful. 😂

The original paint was in a very bad condition and not salvageable, hence the body filler and re spray. I'm really happy with how it turned out, but we all have our different tastes 🤷‍♂️
