  • I have no idea why are there flickers every now and then in the video, it isn't there in my offline rendered version, *youtube problem*. Anyway, I had this Peugeot 508 1.6THP Premium for 3 years now, and this is a retake of the POV drive as I did one with my old camera previously. You can check out the video 3 years ago here • Peugeot 508 1.6THP 201... . Feel free to ask me anything about the ownership of this car, the video only has some of my comments on the car. Peugeot 405 sri auto bought in 1995. Mimeage 159,000 km. Just had reat qbsorbets changed after last year. Plan to change front ones this year. Our pug has been pretty reliable. Love the ride, stability and low slung looks.
    504 had the best ride qbd stability. Remembered how it glides thru the water in heavy rain with disdain. 406 coupe was sadly written off after yhe rearcleft tyre burst at Duke at the corner 1 km from MRR2 in 2012. Missed it so badly even after 12 years!!!!

    Really nice car ^_^ in my opinion this is best thing exept if u want insignia or something like that it is allso fine, but for the looks and interiour style in my opinion non car can beat it for that price, and its not that old even now, u get a lot for the money, my neighbour has the same just it is facelift but interiour u really cant tell the difference ^_^ and it allso have the same rattle or more sqeking that kind of noice, it comes mostly from door handles and arround gear shifter, it is thiny plastic, not a hard one compared to some places for example where your legs are... neighbour found slution we were drink coffe and talked about it, u have many people that do spund and vibrating isolation on cars, one guy had on yt same issue with BMW f30 allso that noice where the gear knob is... and recommended a peace of vibrating foam a thiny foam 2-3mm and friend ordered it and did it the same, just remove all plastic on door handles middle console, friend allso removed on dash bord i meam around that 1 long piece and put that foam, there is no rattling or anything on doors u can hear just a thiny bit but u need to have strong palms to squeze that handle to hear some noise so hope that will solve ur noice rattling, it really helps in any car, and allso to that guy on yt allso worked well... feels premium now how it schould feel becouse it is big sedan and looks modern and premium its schame to hear that noice... but overal i am really considering of getting one, dont have much for facelift model money but this looks good too and yeah chicks turn heads;) for 6500-7500%,€ u can now get at least where i am from with wery nice equipment allso will get seat heatting seats and electricaly operated seats and can find for that price a 4 zone climate control wich is nuts... great car overal, think it schould be at least 1500-2000 more expencier for what it really gives to ovners

      Sorry for the late reply. Some of the most common issues are high pressure fuel pump, turbo regulator valve, turbo hose, valve cover, brake fluid reservoir sensor( need to change whole reservoir even though only sensor), sometimes engine too but if covered under extended warranty then still ok.

    • @LouisSiah
      @LouisSiah  Před 3 lety +1

      Spare parts can be quite pricey, you'd have to spend some time looking for parts online. As for reliability, I'd say it's just like any other modern European cars, lots of electronic sensors so you can expect to get error codes every now and then but doesn't mean the part is faulty, it could just be the sensor. So just drive it with the mindset of owning a European car and not a Toyota or Lexus and you're good to go :)

    Hi bro, just curious if you know this but is there a difference in reliability of the 308 turbo and the 308 non turbo (Vti model)? Because im pretty sure the 308 turbo has the same engine as your 508. Would you recommend it still in upcoming years? Would it be a money pit? Thanks Louis :)

    • @LouisSiah
      @LouisSiah  Před 2 lety +2

      Hello! I would say if you manage to find one with proper service and maintenance record from a direct owner like me plus have extra cash prepared just in case then it should be fine, touchwood mine has been pretty reliable although it has problems here and there but all were fixed under warranty along with a while long list of parts replaced under the recall program so it runs great now. Although I still wont suggest having a peugeot as your only car. And i believe the 308 non turbo would be more reliable than the turbo variant, less parts always means less problems.

      @LouisSiah  Před 2 lety +2

      @@syedaidrus4250 Okay so I did some searches on Carlist, if I only have RM15k to get a car I personally would go for a 2016 Proton Saga. a 2015 would cost even less. It's a pretty low maintenance car and how unreliable can a saga be right :) the parts can be easily found and you can service it everywhere. I personally would prefer a manual though rather than the cvt, because manual is cheaper to maintain than cvt transmission. if you want a smaller car, there's the perodua axia 2016 which cost a little higher than the saga but i'm sure can nego here and there. but i would choose saga.

    • @LouisSiah

      Hi there. If serviced accordingly i dont think anything serious would happen, mine is 1.6thp at 75k km and still going strong, it was only before went to get some recall parts changed that there were some issues but it was all covered under warranty. Having said that i would recommend the 2.2 diesel, it's a way nicer car to drive and more reliable. The prince 1.6thp engine isn't as reliable if you have to compare between the 2 engines. • @LouisSiah
      @LouisSiah  Před 4 lety +12

      hi bro, if you're lucky the car would be just as reliable as a japanese but because there's more sensors and features than a regular japanese so it may seem to be more problematic but most of the time it's just sensors or it could just the car battery. engine wise it's under extended warranty like mine is covered until jan 2021, my car is manufactured 2015. gearbox is pretty reliable too as it's an Aisin gearbox aka toyota gearbox and it's under extended warranty too. the car does seem to have a few very minor problems here and there once in a while but thats the same for every type of cars. like mine the driver side mirror only folds in occassionally which is sad but i live with it. just one advice, this car needs proper servicing, and on time. there's a facebook group too, try searching for Peugeot 508 club malaysia, there's loads of info on ownership there, but naturally you'll see people posting about their problems and asking what to do, don't let that put you off because that's the main function of these owner groups, if no problem those people won't purposely post in the group anyway

    Hi Louis, may I know have this car been reliable so far?

    • @LouisSiah
      @LouisSiah  Před 3 lety +1

      i have experienced high pressure fuel pump failure, engine oil leak, cracked engine valve cover, coolant leak, faulty engine and gearbox mounting and turbo intake hose. All those where fixed under warranty. On top of that a long list of items was also recalled and exchanged for free by service centre. After all the recall and problems that i mentioned fixed by service centre, the car is awesome now. So if you want to get this car make sure it has been maintained properly and has done recall as well as have a clear service history like mine, i keep all my records. It would be better to have warranty if the car hasn't face the problems i face cause those are common problems.

      So far I have experienced problems with high pressure fuel pump, right drive shaft, turbo hose (I think that's what it's called), coolant outlet tank leak, engine oil leak, engine and gearbox mounting, horn rosak.. All those fixed under warranty. And also a whole long list of parts changed under recall program which is free which you can check with peugeot if any recall parts for your peugeot. Make sure to check with different authorised peugeot service centres cause all will give you different opinions and answer, yes after sales service is pretty bad. Luckily my peugeot is under extended warranty program until 2022 which covers most of the engine and gearbox parts. So far i spent the most on servicing only, which cost about rm400 to rm1.4k each time every 6months or 10k km, rarely rm400plus actually, that's when very minor servicing. And have to service back at authorised service centre cause got warranty.
