    Hi, great video. I have a 508 and was fault alerts and service light coming and going for months, this started after leaving car parked for 6 weeks and I fear battery voltage and ecu have played a part. Although the car started fine when I returned from holidays.
    Recently the fault alert comes in every time engine starts and service light stays on all the time. My Obd2 shows no faults but this week car displayed a gearbox warning fault before going away again. Could this simply be the battery being low and the ecu registering a gearbox fault that just needs clearing. Car runs perfectly and gearbox smooth.
    Sorry for the detail but thought I would seek your experience.
    Regards Craig (Australia)

    One maybe somewhat odd question - would a 2007 Peugeot/Citroen EGS semi-automatic gearbox have any safety mechanisms to prevent accidentally putting into reverse when moving forward at a considerable speed?

    • @Mad4FrenchCars
      @Mad4FrenchCars  Před rokem

      Sounds like who ever installed a new Cluch didn't program it properly. It could also be other issues such as a cranck shaft seal from gearbox side hasn't been replaced during Cluch replacement and now it contaminated Cluch with oil. Or it could be something else, I would get it scanned with Diagbox as sometimes some faults doesn't show up on a dash but it's stored in a ecu.

      Just to confirm is it manual or semi auto? As ehdi can be manual aswell as the ehdi means you have stop start. If it's manual then it's not that many things that can be wrong but if it's semi automatic then it could be a whole range of things. It's strange that it doesn't slip on lower gears.

    • @Mad4FrenchCars
      @Mad4FrenchCars  Před 2 lety

      I would start from checking things like battery it might be old and these do affect semi auto gearbox. Another thing to check would be gearbox actuator fluid level, and also little visual inspection to see if there is no visual fluid leaks. If battery is good and actuator fluids seem to be fine. Then I would plug Diagbox and scan the car for codes as even if it doesn't come up now it will be stored and that would help to find out what could be wrong with it.

      Not sure what codes mean I had a different codes then Cluch was going all I can say is if its a semi auto then it turns off gears if you get gearbox error and error could be couse by anything. Most of the time is a slipping Cluch causing a gearbox to give gearbox faulty message and gears disappear. Get it scanned with Diagbox that's the only software wich will show you exact problem. I am not familiar with 2.2 set up but I am prity sure that you do need to change a gearbox oil even on a fully automatic boxes the only difference is a process itself is different. Peugeot say its a oil for life inside them but that is nonsense as I think the different is manual gearbox oil should be changed every 40k miles for best results and same with semi auto. Full auto boxes oil last around 130k - 140k miles so much longer but still it's not life time

    I have a question, coz I just recently bought a 2011 Peugeot 508. It has cost me so much more in repair than the car itself. First the clutch had to be changed, and now my car is back in the workshop after 4 months. Now the problem is the gearbox actuator, they said there is a leak, and now just waiting for the part to come. I was advised by a mechanic to never drive it in automatic but rather in manual mode so that my car would last longer and work better. Is this true or what? Then what is the point of it having an automatic mode, if I would need to use the manual mode for it to live longer?

    • @Mad4FrenchCars
      @Mad4FrenchCars  Před 2 lety

      Hi mate these semi automatic gearboxes are rubbish my advice would be fix the car and sell it and get manual. I now have 1.6Hdi 508 with 5 speed manual and it drives lovely. 1.6 Ehdi with 6 speed semi automatic gearbox is just horrible invention. I don't think it will make any difference if you drive in auto or manual if it will decide to cause problems then it will regardless. Actuator leaks are common to leak. Normally it's a plastic hose between actuator hidraulic fluid reservoir and actuator. Hope it's a easy fix. These cars seem to eat clutches much faster then a normal manual ones aswell. There is a fully auto option aswell I believe on some 2.0hdi 508s wich is much more reliable aswell but 1.6hdi with 5 speed or 2.0 hdi with 6 speed are just proper solid boxes and last ages

      @Mad4FrenchCars  Před 10 měsíci +2

      The presure is deffinatelly low. It does sound like a leak somewhere or maybe need to bleed a system with diagbox few times. Then you installed a hidraulic slave have you pressed it and put some hidraulic fluid in it while releasing to fill it up with fluid. If you havent then maybe you have some air in a system. I would try to bleed it with diagbox to try to get rid off air if its any in a system. Very hard to advise without seing it but its either a leak or a air in a system. I dont think it would be anything to do with actual actuator.
      Try to blead it few times also try to actuate cluch with diagbox aswell maybe that could help to air it out aswell. If there is no obvious leaks then i would try to do that. Have you connected a hidraulic slave sleve and high presure tube with metal clip? Let me know how it goes mate. I have done one myself today on a 2013 3008 just havent finished yet but curious to know what happen with yours.

      To depressurize a gearbox hydraulic system you have to go to gearbox section on DIAGBOX and chose repair then choose gearbox programming and choose depressurise a hydraulic circuit DIAGBOX does it by itself once you choose the option. After Clutch replacement you need to pressurise the system again and sometimes run a bleeding setting and also need to program a gearbox. nothing major as DIAGBOX does it itself things like a gear learning also clutch biting point. one thing to mention some cars require a economy mode to be deactivated to perform depressurization.

    • @Mad4FrenchCars
      @Mad4FrenchCars  Před 2 lety

      @@bobson5361 it's a semi automatic right? I am just thinking if this particular fault related to actual gearbox oil or actuator fluid. If its actuator fluid then I would start from checking actuator for obvious leaks and also see how much oil is in a actuator reservoir. As it might be low on oil struggling to build a presure. What other simptoms do you have does the car drive at all how does the gear change feel?

      @@Mad4FrenchCars Hi, started by showing gearbox faulty, changed the clutch plate, pressure plate and slave cylinder but had an issue during pressurizing, only to realise the pump wasn't functioning well. So imported the pump, changed the actuator fluid, the gearbox oil too and there was pressure build up, did gearbox programming and vehicle moved, but after driving for about 20km, gearbox went to manual then ultimately neutral and had to reset by removing battery terminal for it to move again. So it keeps loosing pressure when driving and has the P0842 as a permanent error

      If you do it yourself will probably cost you around 500 with 4 piece cluch kit with dmf and hidraulic fluid, gearbox oil. 1100 is reasonable for a job to be done.
