- In this video, I picked the Brinks 30mm padlock, and it can be found at Walmart or the link provided below.

I used the Covert Instruments FNG for picking these locks, you can find those tools in the link below.

Thanks , so much , being a 70 yr. Old beginner, very helpful , slow , clear explanation, now I understand that middle finger helps guide pick on each pin , never knew this , thanks moe
Thanks for talking us through the process, it was very helpful for me
I'm just getting into lock picking and waiting for my kit. I'm handicapped and mostly left-handed even though I can hold things with the right. I did get as vice to help practice. I did successfully pick one 20 or so years ago when my friend locked herself out of her house using 2 paper clips, very lucky.
Good video, i personal start from the last Pin most of the Time.
Thank you so much for doing this video. I will share this link with my newbie pickers who buy my lock bundles who ask me lots of questions. This is a great breakdown of everything from how to hold your pick to how to SPP and everything in between. I’ll pair it up with a link to a guide on tensioning video. Well done my friend.
Thank you 🙏
Been getting a bit frustrated lately. I'll have to slow down and go step by step. Thanks for the reminder, Sandman. 🙂
Great demo! I wish there would have been a video like this when I started. This is sure to help many beginners. 🙌
Glad it was helpful!
I start in the back and go back to front, front to back… no wasting time coming back to 1 every time. Gotta slay those locks like it my job haha.
Thanks Sandman Great vid
I dont go back to 1, I'll start at the back and come forward and then go backwards back towards the back and so on😊
Hey Sandman. Thank you for taking the time to make this video and share with the community.
My pleasure!
Nice, educating and entertaining show, thanks for sharing 👍
It is good that the beginners can see that they don't need expensive 'superpicks' to open a lock!
Have a nice whatever bro 😏
Thanks for watching!
Well explained. I've said this before but I really do appreciate the slower but more thorough picking techniques you show. Much better than me shoving a tool in and wiggling it until I get an open. Nicely done, and be good to yourself.
Thank you. I agree. I prefer seeing the problem solving, skill based opens versus luck based opens. It’s a part of my “artistic process” lol.
Great little how to video, good luck on getting to 5K!
Thanks so much!
I actually picked one of those up a week ago. It's a Yellow Belt lock. Great video!
Thanks!
As always!!! Great video Sandman!!!😊
Glad you enjoyed!
Have a great rest of the week sandman 👍🤜🤛
You too!
@@sandman_locksport 🙏👍
I do this but I go back to front instead of starting at pin 1
Good video!
Thanks!
@@sandman_locksport I have a more substantive question for you. LPL mentioned sometimes with cheaper locks you have set the shorter pin first before tensioning. Do you have any idea what he meant by that?
@@JoBianco no idea. I’ve never seen him do that personally. I prefer speed picking where you look for binding pins in any order, and this technique requires looking for binding pins in sequential order. Both techniques require binding pins. The length of a pin doesn’t matter. Especially on padlocks because they usually have smaller pins in general, such as master and American. Looking for shorter pins makes no difference because if it’s not ready to set, then there’s no point in touching it at all. You need to look for the pins that are binding. Regardless of their length.
@@sandman_locksport Appreciate the response. I don't understand it either; I'll see if I can find the reference
LPL would never overset a pin...!
Lol jk, that was very well done 🤘
Haha 😆 thank you
What vise are you using?
It’s a panavice 350 but any $15 vacuum table vice will work just fine
Is it important to go from front to back, or is it the same to go from back to front?
In the style of LPL, he demonstrates front to back, but most locks pick back to front, due to using tension in the front of the lock, it causes the pins in the back to bind first typically. However, when speed picking, I just pick the first pin that I feel that is binding.
When you say " Nothing on one " ( or which ever pin you're on , ) what do you mean ?
I am saying there is no binding, it is not giving any feedback, it is merely springy and not ready to be set. There is no feeling. There is nothing. Nothing on one.
Do you hear the click at the volume level in the video or is your mic picking up the click and making it louder? Nice video Jesse!
Both? Lol 😂
Also vise itself works as amplifier of sort
@@sandman_locksport I better get myself a vice.
@@droolingdruid9363 I kinda thunkit but that's a loud click in the vid
That's it??
super helpful video , thanks !
Glad it was helpful!
@@sandman_locksport question dude , The LPU Belt website, do you have to pick all the locks to go to the next belt ? some locks I cannot find for the life of me !! Advise?
