The grassy area in front of the greenhouse should be made into a fenced in unique play area with bug motels, bird feeders, interactive water feature, swings and "hobbit" tunnel/house. Maybe lawn checkers or horse shoes?

@@jgwood10 She wondered what to do with it. Often landscaping (herbaceous and hard) is based on walk patterns and habit of use. She already has a decorative fence around her raised bed garden, so I could see carrying that down to just before where she has the concrete containers with the bulbs stored in front of the greenhouse. If Benjamin likes that area to play, then why not make it a play area Laura style? I could see them putting in an outdoor train.

Their very own 'Secret Garden!' A safe 'Fenced- in' area! Just a low fence for a boundary... or a low 'Stone' wall would be awesome.

Plant another Weeping Willow...or tree that will hold a 'tree swing' someday.

Yes, they need a nice Quiet / Big Mellow Dog (look up A Great Pyrenees) They Guard children & protect pets/livestock. (that is their job)

Love the look of the high tunnel split into two. Paul's ingenuity to build the trays to hold the pots upright is brillant!
My local garden center has had those little wood grids for years holding up shrub pots...I always thought that was genius too!

It is really fun watching the tours and how everything is changing. I think we all live vicariously through you guys to a point. I have planted things such as ninebarks, coral berry and honey berries (and can't wait to get helebores!) after watching your videos, so it is nice to see how your plants are progressing to see what I can look forward to. I learn so much and get so many ideas from your videos on top of just enjoying warching them!
It will be interesting to know if all your 'blown-away' seeds begin germinating and producing beautiful flowers all over town, wherever the wind has dropped them!

Never apologize for a long garden tour!!!! We love them. Lol, this is sick but I was laying in bed the other night thinking/hoping you were going to save your Iceberg climbers by the gazebo. Yay!!! Makes me 😊. I had to move from my old home and left my beautiful garden that had over 50 types of roses. I sure do miss the garden.

I too, move from my gardens of 19 years..to be near growing grand kids. I looked at it as a (start a new) and slowly I will have lots of gardens again... but my grand kids childhood is short.!

Thank you Aaron for pushing for this garden tour! I love seeing everything in a mess beforehand and then watching it all come together as time passes! Absolutely loved the drone video at the end for a couple different reasons. First because the trees have no leaves yet you can see everything perfectly and secondly by zooming out a little more you got a great perspective of your property and the surrounding area. I've always wondered how your home was situated in your neighborhood. Fantastic video I was mesmerized for the entire time!

Wow so many changes! Thanks for the tour, it was so inspiring. When your children are grown, your garden will be mature like your parents. This footage will bring back memories for your family and you will see how time, the seasons, and the years ebb and flow and create beauty in our lives. Enjoy it and embrace the change!

I think they should leave it as is. Benjamin loves to roll around under the willow and play with the cats. Sometimes things are just better left alone. They can always bring out a blanket and have a picnic on the ground.

Yessssssss, thank you Aaron for the drone footage and encouraging Laura to record a tour now while things are in such a dug up planning stage. I think this video will be good to look back on and also to do a comparison when things have finished/1year up date and maybe a couple of years updates. I montage from start to where you are, seeing the changes....forward planning for videos (drone footage).

Why not do both walkways -- your idea and Aaron's? They would provide alternative paths to the various areas of your enlarged yard, when it's all complete. And, it will provide you with more sweeping areas for plantings.

Laura, I've been digging up tulips from a spot by my back door for over 10 years and they just keep coming. This will be the last year for them since the patio will cover that spot. My hellebores are in bloom, alliums coming up and bloomerang is going gangbusters. Peony is also starting to come up very fast, this will be a very exciting garden year. Lots of fun!
I dug up a 4'x4' area of daffodils and replanted some elsewhere and gave some away thinking I could plant something new in that area. I turned it all over and put compost in . Dang if a good number came up in that spot! Don't know how they managed to grow right side up.
I hope you guys don’t move for 20 yrs, that way we’ll be able to see it grow. It takes years to mature. It will be glorious.
I’m going to buy some Spring Grove arbs this season & next year plant Green Giants once our home is built. Do you have any experience with GG?

i have been growing GG for about 15 years at various houses we have lived in. I garden in a zone 8. Believe it or not in about 4//5 years they will be huge. They put on an amazing amount of growth each year 12 to 18 inches a year. Best advice I can give is give them room and air to grow when you plant them. If you plant them to tightly packed together they tend to get spider mites or even mildew on the inner branches. Other advice do not over water them we live in a very hot humid climate and seriously I don't do a ton of extra watering and only use my irrigation system say once a week (water prices are very high). I use a 13-13-13 general cheap Home Depot generic brand fertilizer in the spring and toss it literally around them and that is it. I have never had blight or disease like I have seen others comment about on the internet. Hope this helps.
@@MK-qo6wothank you...at this very moment I’m researching how to plant them for privacy between building lots. We are building on 2.2 acres so there’s plenty of open space. I’m not sure how many to plant between us & a future neighbor who has decided to put his driveway very close to the property line. I’m happy to hear they grow fast.
@@annemelon5283 to be honest I’ve never lived in one place long enough to see my plantings mature or trees I’ve planted grow large. But they’re there for others to enjoy. My parents lived in the same home for over 60 yrs and the landscaping changed many times over the years. That’s what’s so fun about gardening & can be frustrating as well.
I played under an enormous elderberry when I was little, it was one of my favorite places 💚💚
Yes! When I was a kid the neighbors pine tree was our “rocket ship” a few branches we still there that we pretended to shift gears and fly the rocket! What a good mom, encouraging their imaginations!!!! 💖🤗

Such a great tour of the property! THANKS AARON! I enjoy hearing about the WHOLE process. Definitely need the larger scale walkway/entrance! Plus having that walkway line up with the path that wraps back around to your veggie garden is a great idea.
