    This is a very neat pillow. Could be used for children as well as folks in a nursing home. Great job. May need to make a few of these for our local nursing home. Thanks for the inspiration. ❤️

      It’s the different textures they like. Also for people with dementia

      I was thinking the same thing it would be much easier for senior to handle than a bigger quilt. Such a great idea for all ages.

    Love this and thank you so much for the inspiration! I am just finishing up a zippered fidget pillow for a woman with dementia.
    For the top left square, I used a blue fabric that looks like a dark sky with clouds, but used a trim with plastic things that look like large water droplets, for rain. My cloud is puffy and crinkles. I did very similar with the rainbow and a puffy cloud above it. For the 3rd square I used two fabrics, minky with two small prairie points facing inward along the side and bicycle cotton. Added elastic that has two slide buttons. A nice headband elastic with ruffle sides and added a half ring to hang something from and a flower. For the last square, I used purple fabric with a pocket that has a fake fur swatch in side and 2 butterfly decals on the outside. A large prairie point at the top with some bumpy shiny embellishment and a cam snap to close. Then added a ribbon with a small bell.
    On the back I am putting a pocket that will hold about 5 laminated memorable photos.
    Again, thank you so much!

    love this. My father is in a nursing home and he happens to be on the Alzheimers floor even though he doesnt have it but i was wanting to make something or buy something for the people on that floor. I noticed they need something to do and i wanted to give them something so that they can have it to play with. I was also thinking about buying some baby dolls for the patients there too. It makes me sad to see some of them just sitting there with nothing to do. Great idea thanks will be looking into getting some or making something

    Love this! I want to make one for my father in law who has Alzheimer’s , he’s starting to become a skin picker so this would keep his hands busy! I noticed he picks a lot more since his cat passed away, she was 20 years old a constantly would just lay on his lap and he would pet her for hours so he misses having something to rub or pet! I’m thinking instead of buckles for him I would do maybe shoe string somehow because he loves tying and untying his shoes & maybe buttons because he likes unbuttoning and re buttoning his button down flannels. Maybe one quadrant I could put like a furry piece on so it feels like a cats fur? Idk there’s so many possibilities! This is so fun! Thank you 😊

    Thank you for sharing. If this is for alzheimers, under the crinkly piece one could sew a clear vinyl pocket to add a laminated photo/photos attached with ribbon.

    This is great! I'm in the process of making a sensory blanket for my new grand daughter and I'm always looking for more ideas to add to it. I love the rainbow zippers! I wonder if you could have incorporated a mirror under the minky instead of the elephant applique? I have recently purchased mirror sheets and am anxious to try them on a project. My only issue with that is the washability of the final project. Thanks! Nice job!

    I just started making small fidget mats. We have a several family members w sensory issues. I find that the mats wash well in a lingerie bag. For this pillow cover, maybe turn it inside out and wash in a lingerie or mesh wash bag. It should be fine.

    You should be able to wash it in the washer in a washer bag without any problem.

    First visit to your channel, and I am intrigued by this fidget pillow you created. Since you mentioned that it was created for a teacher, I am curious about how this is used in a classroom setting? I like the idea that you mentioned that any of the quadrants could be recreated for a quiet book as well. I'm hoping to make a few of those for my grandchildren, and will try to incorporate some of your fun ideas. Do you have any tutorials for quiet book pages?

    • @QuiltersWorkshop
      @QuiltersWorkshop  Před 6 lety

      Linda Beckman Hi there! Thank you for your comment! The teacher who i made it for, has some children in the classroom who feel more calm and focused while playing with something quietly in their laps. Unfortunately i currently don't have any quiet book tutorials at the moment! Perhaps soon! :)

      @lindabeckman3053 Před 6 lety

      Thanks for your quick response. I'm studying to be a teacher, so this really interested me! I hope you do a quiet book in the future, but in the meantime I'll see if I have any luck on CZcams... I've wanted to make one for years, and now that I have grandchildren I simply must make the time to create one!

    Maybe this could be washed in a lingerie bag? It is mesh, and would keep the buckles and zippers from snagging on things.
