- This is a fascinating and comprehensive account of the history, origin and use of the Tracing Board in Freemasonry. It was written by the imposingly named Brother E.A.T. Breed and first published in 1904.

2:09 - Where is this supposed "initiate" being adorned with a mop and pail? I am quite confident that Brother Breed erred in this observation of _both_ versions of Hogarth's Night.
I must agree. I thought this was odd when I put the video together. I guess at a stretch there is a 'mop' and a 'slop bucket' visible in the engraving, but they don't have much to do with the main characters.

I was amending my ritual book's deacon floorwork after our latest GLoInstruction meeting last week - what a nightmare, truly. It always seems to be something to do with the deacons, or the salutes. 🫣
We don't have a tracing board anywhere in my lodge.
Perhaps “J”amaica and “B”arbados were representations of where the pillars would stand in lodge? I have no idea. Just a thought.
