- ll the opposition parties congratulated Mr Swinney and took the opportunity to stick the boot into the SNP and their record of the last 17 years.
New SNP leader John Swinney is to become Scotland’s next first minister after winning a vote at Holyrood.
Mr Swinney won the backing of 64 MSPs, with his nearest rival Scottish Conservatives leader Douglas Ross picking up 31.

What Lorna Slater conveniently forgets to mention is that it was there muscling in on the private rental sector that subsequently caused rents to spiral out of control.

If you’ve never had a proper job in your life and are totally out of touch with reality, don’t panic, become a politician.
There should be a minimum standard. At least a qualification in management and experience in the job, together with a knowledge of business and accountability.

The issue is all of those parties are the same, they are not working for Scotland but against it. Conservatives offer lukewarm warm opposition to the worst aspects but in Westminster they are doing damage to the country.
I don't think Westminster taught the SNP how to steal members money. And they are not telling them to waste money on building Ferries that don't get finished, etc etc etc.
@@brianpowell2868 the conservatives a party I have been a member of and whose ideals I support are just as corrupt in Westminster, track and trace, Ruanda (so many backhanders, high fasts rail, IT contacts. Politicians sadly are looting this country for personal gain.

As an SNP member, I would support the Scottish Government going back to the electorate for a new mandate, for concerning the Green Agenda alone, I feel that many of the large energy companies are exploiting the genuine climate crisis and the naivety of many to make huge profits whilst brandishing those who challenge their policies and practises as climate deniers.
Scotland can be both an energy exporter and maintain its fragile ecosystem and physical environment, which is a wonder of the world and which is currently being abused by multinational energy companies that are primarily doing what favours their shareholders rather than the communities that have to live with the consequences of their actions.
The SNP needs to return to being the socially progressive party that it once was and to reestablish the case for Independence by being sound in all of its policies.
