  • Hey everyone thanks for watching! I did end up installing the cylinder back on the aircraft off camera due to busyness. :( one day I'll make a video on installing a cylinder so subscribe for that at least. leave a like and comment any questions you might have.
    thanks again
    Andrew.

Time lapse is ok however I’m watching your videos to learn. Would like to see more dialogue during the removal. Otherwise thank you

I enjoy your videos. Makes me understand a little more about the slab of metal I am flying behind

Informative video. I'm pretty sure I'll end up having to do this in my hands-on training before my O&P in a couple weeks, and the DME may have me do it too who knows. I'm a rotary-wing guy, so need all the help I can get on pulling jugs or really recip/piston engines in general. Thanks!

Ah you could loosen fasteners then knock cylinder out to get clearance. But of course its just a theory. Shit never goes easy in aviation, this I know

I always look at the camshaft when a cylinder is removed it could turn into an overhaul

Uh, couldn't you inspect the valves and seats, and fill it with fuel to see if they're sealing well? Then check the ring gaps? Why was it sent off?

yes cleaning the valves might have solved the compression issue but not the excessive plug fouling and oil consumption. I did state I found that the piston ring gabs were aligned at the bottom of the cylinder which was the problem. But the decision was already made to send the cylinder to the engine shop by the aircraft owner and the engine shop inspects and cleans the valves anyway.
Hope this answers your question. Thx for the comment.

Where do you work? I’m currently in school for my a&p just trying to see what’s out there

I work for Space X and do aircraft maintenance as a hobby.

Yes sir! Great place! Great owner. I highly recommend getting anyone to get maintenance done there.
